Hey boys and girls, to another epically boring tutorial from me ¬¬

First of, you need to open your Adobe After Effects:

Once you have your After Effects up and running, open up a new composition.... maybe 1920,1080.

Then go to: Layer > New > Solid or the short cut on making a new solid would be, ctrl+y

Hit 'enter' to rename the solid such as 'cover'

Then we duplicate the solid 6 times, Toggle the switch mode or hit 'f4' and select the 3d option box.

After making them 3d, you ready to make the first step on making the cover book and play around untill u have it down as u want it to look like.

Such as this:

After we made our basic cubic shape (mind me its not really cubic as cubic is a 3d square), we are going to pre-comp it. To do so, first select all 6 layers then go to Layer > Pre-Compose.

After pre-composing, it will show as a 2d layer, so want to turn on the 3d layer and also the collapse transformations, to be able to edit it in 3d space.

After you do that, you duplicate the pre-comp layer once for now and move the duplicated copy back into 'z space'.

After doing so, copy it once again but now u rotate it by the 'y axis' as to form the spine of the book and then push it back to the sides using the 'z axis'. but once you have done that it will be to wide for the spinal part of your book, so what you do it, you select the spinal layer, press 'S' (Scale) uncheck the chain link, change the width down untill it fits perfectly.

Now you will have a the basic for you book cover.

To animate the cover from opening and closing you'll have to change the position of y intersect of the pan behind tool (basically meaning changing the anchor point to a certain place, in 3d space ofc).

After changing the anchor point for the 'front cover' layer, all you need to do it make a keyframe, press 'w' and rotate over the 'y axis'.

You can also add pages, by using single solid layer or you can dublicate the back cover of the book, then you move it in the middle, press 's' uncheck the link and on the 3rd digit u see put it about over 100 to increase the thickness in z space.

mr.blabbler taught me this =)
