This two anime series somehow come to my mind at the same time very often.
I used to think FMA is a really amazing anime overall even for the ending(epi1-51)... and I still do
but after I watched Code geass second season... I thought the ending was the most amazing ending I have ever seen from an anime...
I agree to the fact that there are tons of good anime with good story lines and good endings.
But everyone have their personal preference. Mine's happen to lean towards this two.
For the reason that they both have really insightful endings. With FMA that the brothers are looking forward to the future, and with Code geass that lelouch sacrificed himself to upkeep his beliefs.
And in both animes, both the main characters gradually develop their personality in an interesting way.
These two series both have a so called "sad endings" people are talking about...
But... Is it really?
In the end, I think they both have happy endings!
Whoever agree with me, I will be happy ^___^

Put a spolier-warning over the code geass ending

It really depends on the person's attitude when watching it.

What Gintoki said, it depends on your personality if you think it was happy end or sad end, like the cup of water 'is it half full or half empty?'

Full metal alchemist, isn't sad at all, although I was sad when I saw a ton of fan girls drooling over Edward.
Just watch the Movie, and it'll give you a happy ending.

About Code Geass, to be honest, I thought it was a piece of shit.
A common guy getting some powers, some hot girls appears , robots, and that's it.

I don't understand how people can say Code Geass is good, but I can't change the population which likes this anime.
Also, there are too many people spoiling it, some goes for the you, brainless numb skull.

Thus, I never finished it, and I never will finish it.

The FMA ending is sad that it made me rage on how bad the ending was.

IT wasn't the ending in FMA that was sad, it was other various points in the serious that was much sadder.

The ending of FMA wasn't sad.
The ending is the movie though, not the 51st episode.

Lelouch was a bit of a douche by the end of Code Geass anyway, didn't really care if he was 'only pretending'.

Sorry my fellow Crunchyroll friend, but I for one am NOT a fanboy/fangirl to think Code Geass/Fullmetal Alchemist's ending is actually sad.

For that is pathetic .

depends on what you think a sad ending really is
just watch and determine if its sad/not sad for yourself and dont rely on others to determine it for you
