I've noticed recently a lot of people been complaining about how PC some things are becoming. While I do understand your stances, there is one simple question I would like to ask all of you. And I do hope you can answer this for me:

"If 'political correctness' is really all the rage as some people make it out to be, than how do you explain most of the decadent popular/political culture in which "political incorrectness" is the guiding force to its popularity?"

*Now prepares for tomatoes being thrown at him*

Gladly.

Popular TV Shows?: Shows like "South Park,"Blue Collar TV", "Family Guy," "Mind of Mencia," Chappelle's Show,"Any show on Comedy Central, Talk shows like "Jerry Springer" or reality shows in general. All of those shows have blatant display of political incorrectness ranging from cursing, making race, religion, gay jokes, insulting and belittling each other, and doing disgusting and obscene antics to gain ratings.

Popular music? Rap songs that objectify women with misogynist lyrics, promote greed, money, total capitalism, obscenities, violence, and ignorance through their music. Not to mention many popular musicians exploiting themselves sexually .Does that sound "politically correct" or non-offensive to you?

Popular political pundits? People like Michael Savage who expressed unsavory, biased, offensive opinions and belittle all of those who don't share his point of view just to gain ratings. Ann Coulter who've constantly bashed "liberals" to get ratings. Bill Maher who've belittle conservatives on his programs to get ratings.Michael Moore who've constantly pissed conservatives off with his offensive and biased opinions to boost his popularity. Does that sound like "political correctness" to you?

I'm not saying all of popular culture is this way. I'm just saying that the majority of popular culture seems to be based on "offending certain groups of people" or existing for "shock value" or "being controversial for the sake of being controversial as being shocking will certainly get some attention". In short, I believe "Political Incorrectness" is the guiding force for most aspects of pop culture. In addition, I also believe it's shortsighted for people to complain about political correctness and not realize that political incorrectness. is actually a big part of our popular, mainstream culture.

I hope I clarify some things for you. If you disagree with me or still not clear on what I'm talking about , feel free to post.

Thanks, I guess.

Though it's bit contradictory for you to say it's an interesting topic yet say you could careless about it(Assuming that it wasn't sarcasm)......

no it wasn't sarcasm and i can think your topic is interesting and still have no opinion what so ever about the topic. I found your opinion interesting to read but I just don't care if people are politically correct or not

It's a lot easier to answer an OP when it gives one an idea of what to respond to. Examples help clarify your position on a topic.

Your examples are the odd sort of "political incorrectness" that is trendy yet rarely very profound or enlightening. It's a common theme in mass media to provide things like these that seem to challenge the status quo but play right into it. People are attracted to their characters because of their "departure" from the ordinary, but it is at best a circle-jerk affair.
