The thing is, so many people love this guy, which makes me question his effectiveness as a convincing villain. I just think Orochimaru was a better villain. After all, most people hate him and isn't that the whole point of being a villain? I dunno, that's just what I think.

Wow, you seem to feel very strongly about this subject. I am a semi-Sasori fan, meaning that he is not my favorite Akatsuki but that I liked his appearance and jutsu he used in the manga/anime. I guess I could agree that Sasori's hazy past and him suddenly turning evil may have lowered his status on the Great Antagonists chart (haha).
Regardless, I think he was a good villan because he was basically crazy, a psychopath who felt nothing when he killed people and gutted them and turns them into puppets, and basically killed anything in sight. He didn't even care when he fought Chiyo that she was his family. Notice I say 'good' because he wasn't really amazing. There are better Akatsuki, but Sasori was blunt and amusing, in my opinion. He was a good character.

if you ask me, i think sasori wasn't really evil. Just a bit angry because he had to sacrifice his man-hood to get the immortality he wanted. Thats why he is bent down all the time, because he's secretly clutching the area where his man-hood used to be and sobbing quietly

i dont think kankuro was as popular as sasori because he was part of akatsuki
and as for the way he died i though that was not very "satisfying"
watch the episode and you'll understand what i mean.

didnt he become a villian cuz he was feeling lonely? ..
started with da parents thing like sasuke..became a little crazy...ended up ... eh yeah u get the point.
but personally i think sasori was a great villain!
plus even though he was a puppet it seemed as if he still had a heart for his grandmother... u no how she said something bout " he knew i was going to do that" or something when sasori was killed...

and kankuro has always been in my top 3 fav ninja in naruto
however i do agree with you it is kinda stupid that people like him because they think hes hot i got some news for you girls if thats the reason you lIke him YOU SHOULD GO JUMP IN A HOLE cause that is stupid

I think he's a as good as most of the other villans.
Why does he get so much attention? At the end of the day this is shounen. When a shounen character is involved in one of the best looking fights of the entire series people will pay attention to him. Kankuro hasn't done anything cool since the Chunin exam so that's why people don't care about him. In sheer skill and ability... Sasori = Kankuro ^ (Kankuro x 2). He makes him look like a total fool. Kankuro doesn't even make his own puppets, let alone have wild Kazekage puppets that can do bloodline jutsu. In fact, Kankuro uses Sasori's reject puppets that he made as a little kid. Plus, i've only seen Kankuro control 1 puppet at a time. He's got 99 more to go before anywhere near Sasori's level.

i think that sasori was a good villian for the part he played in naruto but he had to be killed of to adevance the plot.
And also dosent it seem that at least half the akatsuki have flash backs to there childhood to show that their good guys stop me if im wrong?

he was a great villain and brought the concept of puppet master to its strongest conclusion. one scratch and your dead. plus hes very intelligent and his motivation seems to be centred around immortality and making things live forever as his puppets. much like tobi.
