As many of you fellow gamers already know, dating sims and Ero-ge are popular genres in Japan, but don't even exist in our part of the world. At times, it feels like these games are unneeded, but we as americans are really missin out on a big part of Japanese gaming....the big question is: should we even have them? The variety of games coming to america, such as cooking and planting games, have helped subdue these otaku questions...but do you think the idea of these sort of sims will ever be popular in the US?

personally, I want some innocent Dating Sims, but nothing beyond that....your thoughts?

No, I don't like them. It takes away the excitement of flirting and meeting possible lovers.

After all, you cannot kiss, hug, touch or do it with a video game character.

I bet those games will be popular with losers who cannot go on actual dates with actual people, especially those Edward Cullen obsessed fangirls.

Sakura Wars, probably the most famous Japanese dating-sim game (also has an anime) is getting a western PS2/Wii release later this year, it is like a half dating sim, half action game.

Personally, I'm cool with games like harvest moon, but I could never play a straight dating sim-game.
