Chapter 3

My Are We Energetic

“The band is Exile who else!” Koshiba stated. Exile was their senpai so it would make sense that Avex would use their own band to get another one higher up. That way, if Tenshi Maiden actually lost, nothing bad would come much to it.

However, the reaction of the other nine girls right now was deadly. Lyn and Michie were holding their iPod tightly to the point their hand was turning white. Nanako, Mari and Kaoru had a huge scowl on their face. They looked like they could team up and knock over Koshiba to yell at the manager any moment now. Nori and Megumi both just looked very disappointed at the outcome. Sakura and Tori had both suddenly stopped bouncing on their chair like they were doing a few seconds ago. Of course Tori was still moving her legs about. (If you like Exile gomen! Exile was the first Avex Trax band that came into my mind XD.)

“Uso da yo (It was a lie),” Koshiba managed to state out. She had a slight feeling this was going to get even worse reactions from the band. “Tehe, gomen if I scared everyone!”

“Nani (What)!” All nine girls yelled simultaneously just like when they sang. Koshiba plugged her ears. Did they really sound that loud when they sang? There would be no need for microphones then. Just yelling would work.

All the girls went silent for a few seconds. Koshiba guessed they were wondering whether to kill her or not. As bubbly as Tenshi Maiden acted, they still were pretty deadly at times. Right now would be a good example.

“Well it is like Shii-chan to joke around,” Mari stated.

“Ma~ne,” Michie agreed. None of the girls tried to question if she was just agreeing because she hadn’t paid attention to what happened or because she actually agreed.

“But she looked so serious,” Tori replied. “I lost all my energy for a second.”

“Tori losing her energy is a pretty scary thing. Shii-chan’s joke was too evil!” Nori playfully whined.

“Tori kawaisou (Poor Tori),” Megumi stated forgetting about who this mysterious boy band would be. “Losing her energy...”

“I really was going to go kill the manager,” Lyn sighed in relief.

“Who is the real band?” Nanako asked.

“It must be Back-On then,” Kaoru stated in a sarcastic manner.

“I really didn’t think you would all look that deadly when I joked around! Well my speciality acted up again! Tehe. Well now the real band is Hey! Say! JUMP,” Koshiba spoke as serious as the first time.

“Haha, very funny Shii-chan, that is a joke right?” Kaoru asked with a slight glare.

“Shii-chan no more jokes onegai!” Sakura lightly complained. Koshiba blinked a few times at her fellow bandmates.

“We want to know the real answer,” Megumi stated.

“This isn’t a joke this time minna, I’m being serious,” Koshiba replied.

“Hontou ni? (Really)” Lyn asked still not believing Koshiba.

“Hontou ni!” Koshiba replied as a huge smile formed on her face. She said that with such excitement, a huge reaction happened in this room. It was so loud that the Manager could hear them from where she was talking to the company on the first floor. Tenshi Maiden had their room on the second floor.

“Oh my gosh! Yatta!” Sakura and Tori had entwined their hands and started jumping around the room screaming incoherently. Lyn and Nori were now screaming excitedly to each other. Mari, Kaoru and Nanako and the usually quiet Megumi were yelling and flailing their arms wildly around the same time. In the noise only few snippets of anything could be made out.

Koshiba was however still at the door. But after a few seconds of taking in the view, she joined the nine other girls. They were having a screaming frenzy and didn’t care if any other people could hear them. A boy band, was the only thing that rang in the girls’ heads.

Nobody had noticed Michie who was deep in concentration as she tried out to find the boy band’s name. When Michie was concentrating, she usually blanked out. It was only a special ability that she had but nevertheless, it caused her group much annoyance at times.

“Finally something fun about being an idol!”

“I want to meet them! They seem so kakoii ne!”

“Kyaa! Something interesting!”

“Ima, nani ga okota? (Right now what just happened)” The girls went silent for a moment as they looked at Michie who stared at the eight other girls. All movements stopped. They should’ve realized that Michie would have gone of into her world when Koshiba stated she was joking around.

“Michi! Hey! Say! JUMP! We get to meet them!” The girls didn’t bother to scold her as Sakura yelled that out in glee.

“Wow! Hounto ni? Lucky!” Michie immediately joined Lyn and Nori in screaming. The room became a chaotic place once more as everyone went back to what they had been doing before Michie had commented. The only difference was that Michie had joined Lyn and Nori.

“TENSHI MAIDEN! MINNA URUSAI! (Everyone is too loud)” All ten girls froze midway. This voice sounded like their manager, and she also sounded very angry. They all peaked towards the door and realized, it was time to calm down.

The girls immediately calmed down and rushed back to their seat. Even Tori sat on the chair once more swinging her legs back and forth. This was as still as she could get on a chair.

“I could hear all you girls from the first floor! Do you know how embarrassing that is for Avex Trax?” The manager demanded to the girls. The answer was obvious. It would be very embarrassing for Avex Trax. But nobody had stated that Avex would know about it.

“Gomenasai,” All ten girls said simultaneously. The girls, when they just debut as Tenshi Maiden were very hyper. They were all a bunch of bubbly, childish, nonsense girls. Therefore it had gotten them into trouble many times. Back then all the girls had to say gomenasai literally every day.

It had gotten better but the thought of being with a boy band around their age had once more tweaked the childish side of all the girls. Being a teenager girl that wasn’t allowed to be near boys was hard.

“Good now that you have all settled down, I assume you have obviously heard the news. However remember that Tenshi Maiden’s job is to be better than boys! They are your rivals! Do not expect to be nice to them while you are with me!” The Manager immediately gave strict instructions to the girls.

“Hai,” All girls said once more. The Manager then smiled. She could never get mad at all of these girls. They were innocent. A lot. And horribly troublesome at the same time.

“Good, now let’s go to your next show. Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ!” All the girls groaned.

“Ehhh ima! (Ehhh right now!)” Tori complained.

“Yes right now. Do you want your oricon spot or not?” The manager asked.

“Demo, (but)” It was easy to tell that Tori still wanted to run.

“Tori, the faster we finish the faster you can be free,” Nanako guessed what Tori was thinking and once more tried to persuade her. Tori cocked her head to the side to think for a moment.

“Ok! Nana-chan!” Tori agreed and she started cleaning up with everyone else. Their bag and clothing were everywhere. The girls jumped over each other and their bags to grab stuff. They took a while to sort everything out into ten separate piles. Each pile belonged to one girl.

“Ahh we are late! Manager is going to kill us! Hurry up!” Koshiba stated as she checked her cellphone. Without anymore words she ran out of the room. Kaoru then jammed her final stuff in her bag and ran. Nori, Mari and Lyn followed right after. Then Nanako and Tori ran. With Tori’s speed Michie was sure that she could run ahead of Koshiba.

“Mou! Sakura can you stay with me for just a few seconds?” Michie asked. She was the furthest behind everyone since all her stuff was miraculously placed in unusual places. Sakura looked torn between following the rest of the band and staying with Michie.

“Michi! Gomen just this time!” With that Sakura also dashed away leaving Michie behind.

“My very helpful bandmates,” Michie muttered to herself.

“Gomenasai!” Sakura yelled giving a quick bow of apology as she arrived at the bus. The other girls but Michie were there. Sakura ran to the back of the bus and immediately hid in the corner. The other members looked at her strangely as she hid.

“Sakura nani shiteru no? (Sakura what are you doing?)” Nori curiously asked as she peaked over.

“Hiding,” Sakura spoke as she curled herself up into a ball. “Don’t tell Michi I’m here no matter what.”

“Now only Michie,” The manager spoke to herself. The other bandmates were all leaning towards the right of the bus where the building was. Sakura was counting the seconds that were passing.

Just when the manager decided to leave Michie here and let the bus leave; Michie came running out of the doorway.

“Michie!” All the girls started yelling out of the bus window to grab her attention. It didn’t seem she heard as she continued running. They continued yelling oblivious to the fact the manager was once more getting mad.

“Be quiet!” The manager silenced them after a short while. She glared for better affect. Her ears were ringing at the girls’ high pitched voice. The girls slowly went quiet and settled back into their seats.

“Gomenasai! I had to find a few stuff…”Michie trailed of expecting to be yelled at.

“INTO THE BUS NOW,” The manager gritted her teeth and spoke every single word separately. Michie didn’t answer a single thing as she ran inside the bus. The manager followed after. The instance she did that, the bus closed the door and started leaving. Michie quickly sat down at the front of the bus.

“SAKAGUMI MICHIE! NEXT TIME YOU ARE LATE! I WILL MAKE SURE WE LEAVE WITHOUT YOU!” The manager yelled at Michie. She flinched. A few seconds of silence passed within the bus. Then, with a calmer voice the manager spoke again.

“I know you are the type to lose stuff randomly and space out but can you at least make sure not to be late?” The manager asked Michie. Michie suddenly looked like she was going to cry. Her eyes became sparkly and wet looking.

“Gomen,” Michie said through teary eyes. The manager sighed.

“Just go and talk with your bandmates,” The manager spoke as she left the group to be.

“Michi! Don’t cry!” Megumi immediately spoke as she tried to comfort the teary eyed Michie.

“We all make mistakes!” Mari also tried to comfort Michie by staying optimistic. “Think of this as a chance to work on your flaws!”

“Arigatou Megu, Mari demo (but) I did make a mistake,” Michie replied still teary eyed. Two teardrops fell onto her cheeks.

“Let’s forget about it?” Tori suggested as she bounced to the chair right beside Michie. Tori poked Michie on the cheek. “Smile or be angry Michi! Just don’t cry!”

“Good idea Tori! Sakura! Where are you?” Michie’s sad voice immediately changed into an angry voice. Her sudden expression change got weird looks from her other eight bandmates; but they didn’t say anything much about it. She looked sad and angry at the same time. Here most of the bandmates thought that was only possible in dramas.

Not anymore.

No wonder Sakura was hiding.

Chapter 4

Who Me?

“Yamada-san! Please leave this room immediately!” Nakito and Azami both watched nervously as Yamada left the room. He still had a sleepy look on his face. Nakito doubted he even realized what he was doing right now. That sleepy face “prince charming” as fans in this class would call him; would make a startling discovery if he woke up outside of the classroom. Well at least she knew the kick theoretically failed to wake him up. Who knew it was that hard to wake up an idol.

“Uwaa, kore saiaku (Uwaa, this is bad),” Azami whispered from behind Nakito. The class was silent for a while as the teacher glared at the door. Yamada was already outside so Nakito didn’t understand what she was doing. Making sure he wouldn’t open the door again?

A few seconds passed. A few minutes passed. The teacher turned and faced the chalkboard once more. Then class started, the only difference was an empty seat beside Nakito and the much quieter atmosphere inside the room. For the teacher to kick an idol out, it had a huge impact on the classmates.

“Hey Azami,” Nakito spoke without turning around after a few minutes of confirming the teacher was back into her lesson. Nakito usually called Azami, Ami most of the time. When she said Azami, it meant that Nakito was being serious about something. In this case, it was probably scolding Azami about Azami’s bad idea about kicking Yamada. Either that or Nakito’s guilt was acting up. Nakito had such a strong guilt sense that lying was near impossible for her. Sadly it got her and her friends into lots of trouble.

“Yes Naki-chan?” Azami replied from behind Nakito. She tried to sound as innocent and sweet as possible hoping it would calm Nakito down. Nakito turned around to Azami. Nakito’s face looked normal and Azami didn’t know if that was supposed to be deceiving or not. She just smiled at Nakito and hoped it wasn’t supposed to be a trick.

“Ne Azami, do you-,” Nakito was cut of as the teacher noticed her head turned around and not facing the white board. The teacher was in a bad mood and right now was the perfect chance to let her anger out again.

“Kuchiki-san, maybe you would want to join Yamada-san outside right now?”

“Eh?” Nakito replied as she quickly spun around and faced the front. The teacher usually gave a lecture for the whole class about talking while she was teaching. The teacher only asked them to leave when they did something very bad like throwing stuff or stupid. Yamada falling down would be classified as stupid. That is, ignoring the fact she had kicked him.

“I said, Kuchiki-san. Maybe you would want to join Yamada-san outside right now?” Nakito just stood up. Although it was question, the real meaning was leave. So, Nakito walked over to the door right behind Azami. Azami gave an “I’m sorry” look as Nakito opened the door and went outside.

Nakito quietly closed the door behind her in case her teacher would drag her in and give a lecture on how to close the door properly. There were a few after thoughts lurking in her head. Maybe the teacher had forgotten that Yamada was an idol who would obviously have girls after him in this classroom. And that they would be throwing ice cold looks at Nakito. Like a few seconds ago. Also, wasn’t there a chance that Yamada would talk to her? The point to kick students out is so they won’t talk. That wouldn’t work here. Also, how do you talk to an idol anyway?

Yamada was sitting against the wall right beside the door. His head was leaned back against the wall and his eyes were closed. Nakito thought he was sleeping and she quietly walked to the wall opposite of him and stared out the window. This wasn’t such a bad way to waste time. Their classroom was on the west side where there was a small wood and meadow.

Nakito liked nature and went to the meadow often. Azami went there with her to take pictures. Azami had a huge collection of pictures at home from animals or Nakito looking at the camera with her peaceful and content expression.

“Did you get her mad too?” Nakito heard a sudden masculine voice ask. She jumped in surprise. Nakito slowly turned around from where she was standing. Yamada was staring at her amused that she had jumped. At least his eyes were awake now and not sleepy looking. It seems he had realized he had been sent out of the room by making her mad. So that sleepy look was fake?

“Yes,” Nakito replied. She gave a slight smile out of politeness. Yamada could tell it wasn’t real though. Nakito sat down with her legs up in a fetal position. It would be easier to talk to someone famous if they were eye level. Or so she felt.

“What did you do to make her mad?” Yamada asked and in a joking way he added, “Did you fall of your chair too?”
From that Nakito could guess that he didn’t know that she had kicked him. This was a relief to her, but Nakito’s guilt still stayed with her. Her smile still played on her lips.

“I was talking with Azami,” Nakito replied and her sentence just ended. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk to him but Nakito just didn’t know if it was right to talk normally to a famous person. He looked at her waiting for more information. “And I was asked to leave.”

Was it her or did he look a little bit dejected about what she just said? Maybe the fact hers was much more boring then his. Falling of a chair, everyone laughs and think you are retarded. A person gets yelled at for talking. Nothing happens. Well staring would count.

“I guess we will both stay out here till the bell rings umm,” Nakito stared at the boy who now looked like he was trying to think of something. Nakito guessed it was her name that Yamada was stumbling on. She sighed.

“It’s朽木 (Kuchiki), 朽木 ナキト (Kuchiki Nakito),” Nakito replied. They had sat together since last year and from now on they would probably continue to be together. He still hadn’t remembered her name.

“Isn’t Nakito a boy name?” He asked. It was an innocent question but Nakito immediately got embarrassed. She hid her red face by putting her head down onto her arms. It had been a while since someone had asked her that question.

“Oi! Sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings! Are you ok? Are you crying?” Once more Yamada misinterpreted Nakito’s emotions. He crawled over to her left and peered at her. Yamada was trying to catch a glimpse of her face and figure out her emotions.

Nakito looked up at him. Her face was not burning anymore, so she was hoping it meant that she was not blushing anymore. Yamada’s face was pretty close to hers and her first reaction was to move to the opposite direction of him. Yamada’s face showed clear amusement as she immediately sped to her right.

“Nanda(What), daijoubu ka. (You’re fine)” Yamada still looked amused. “I thought I had made you cry for a second there.” Nakito just blinked at him.

“Eh?” She replied. Nakito was confused. So Yamada had misinterpreted her embarrassment as her crying? “Crying? No…I was just embarrassed.” It seemed that both had forgotten about Nakito’s name as the topic spun into embarrassment.

“I can see that,” Yamada replied. “Your cheeks are still pink.”

“What, really?” Nakito replied as she hid her face again.

“No, I’m joking around,” Yamada replied with a smile. He was clearly amused again.

“Mou,” Nakito complained as she actually blushed. Nakito hid her face again.

“Why do you have t hide your face when you are blushing? Nothing bad about blushing,” Yamada was curious and asked an innocent question. He really didn’t understand Nakito as amusing as she may be.

“Because,” Nakito replied still hiding her face. She didn’t say anymore.

“You aren’t going to tell me?” Yamada asked. Nakito looked up her face normal once more. Was she going to tell?

“Ie (No),” Nakito replied. Yamada found her unusual. She wouldn’t talk to him properly hiding almost everything. She didn’t show him any emotions from the heart. All Nakito did was look at him, blink and hide. The smiles she gave were fake. Had he done anything wrong?

Yamada opened his mouth to say something else but before he could, the bell rang. People immediately crowded the hallway as class ended. A few took curious peeks at the still sitting Yamada. Yamada had lost his sight on Nakito. When he tried to see her again, she had disappeared.

When the bell rang, Nakito had run back into the classroom using the students as distraction. She had been as quick as the wind and quickly sped inside the classroom. Azami looked surprised at Nakito’s expression. Sure her friend was naïve at times but she never looked flustered.

“Naki-chan!” Azami ran over to her friend and gave her a hug. “Daijoubu (Are you okay)? You look flustered.”
With very small energy, Nakito told everything that happened during the short while outside. Azami took everything to heart but when Nakito finished ranting; Azami had a stern look on her face.

“Naki-chan! Baka! Instead of going on about those! You should’ve apologized!” Azami scolded her friend. “I’m taking you with me and we will go apologize!”

“Ami I don’t want to! He didn’t know it was me so can we please go home?” Nakito begged her friend. She tried to walk to her desk but Azami grabbed one of her hand. Nakito didn’t like the grip Azami held on Nakito.

“Naki-chan, look at me,” Azami forced her friend to face her. “You feel guilty right? So you might as well let that guilt loose by telling him. Also think about how he felt when you just randomly disappeared.”

“He probably didn’t care,” Nakito muttered. Why would he care? Yamada didn’t even remember her name!

“What did you say?” Azami asked.

“Then why are you coming?” Nakito asked. Nakito wasn’t going to tell Azami what she just said. She switched her sentence.

“To cheer you on, make sure you don’t run away and also to maybe accidently talk with Yuto-kun!” Azami replied smiling at Nakito. Yuto, right Nakito had forgotten about him. Yuto and Yamada were best friends. Azami personally liked Yuto but Nakito still did not figure out if it was because of his fame or because Azami just liked him. She couldn’t ponder much about it right now as Azami started dragging her.

Oh why am I being forced to do this? Nakito asked herself as she was being dragged by Azami to find Yuto and Yamada. The two girls found the two boys at the shoe racks. They were just sitting there near the entrance talking about something. Nakito didn’t think the boys personally knew that girls were peeking at them.

“Yuto-kun! Ryosuke-kun!” Nakito felt very embarrassed as Azami yelled out their name from across the shoe rack room. Since her arm was being latched on by Azami, she just turned around and faced the wall. At least Nakito wouldn’t have to see the facial expression of the two boys. Or the glares of the girls that were peeking.

The two boys looked at each other. They knew Azami was the person who would randomly come up, start a conversation and leave after her friend appeared. It didn’t matter much to Azami whether Yuto was in a conversation already or not. She just popped in and out. Yuto and Yamada were used to Azami’s random habits. At this point Yuto had pretty much figured out he should just walk over to the girl. Yamada followed. Both boys noted that Azami was holding another girl’s hand and that girl was facing the wall.

“Is there something you want Imamura-san?” Unlike Azami they preferred to be more formal to her. She didn’t comply.

“Don’t use san! Nakito wanted to talk to Yamada!” The boys felt bad for Nakito when her hand was yanked forcing her to turn around. She didn’t look very happy to see them and immediately put her head down.

A girl usually talked to a boy when they fell in love. They also look dejected because a friend forces them to confess. Right now’s situation fitted perfectly to the idea of confession. The two boys looked at each other mistaking this for a confessing situation. Yamada didn’t know how to react in this situation. Yuto just shrugged.

“The girl from before,” Yamada spoke. “Nakito was it?”
The way Yamada said it made it sound like he remembered her name. Nakito wanted to point out that Azami had just said her name. But she couldn’t since Azami continued talking.

“It’s Nakito alright!” Azami replied. “Now tell him Nakito.”

I don’t want to, Nakito thought in her head however Azami’s smile was deadly. It looked playful and happy but Nakito could read the words behind it. Azami was going to kill her if she didn’t reply right now. Nakito gave a gulp as she spoke.

“If I do tell him can we do it somewhere else just us two?” Nakito asked. She didn’t know it but the two boys were mistaking the whole thing. They thought she was going to confess her love.

“Urmm, sure,” Yamada replied. He wasn’t sure how to react and just agreed. It could be the right thing for all Yamada knew.

“Yuto-kun and I will stay here!” Azami spoke smiling. “If you screw this up, I’ll make sure to drag you here over and over again,” Azami whispered to Nakito. Nakito didn’t like the thought of that. She quickly complied and shuffled away. Yamada just stood there until Yuto nudged him. Then he followed right after.

Yamada didn’t know what Azami said to Nakito but Nakito was sure quick to comply. If she was going to confess…how was he supposed to reject her?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two watched Yamada and Nakito disappear. Once the two looked like they stopped walking Azami sighed and sat down. Yuto looked down at her, and then he sat down beside her. Then he sighed. Azami took a curious look at him.

“Ne, Yuto-kun! Do you like singing?” Azami asked Yuto.

“Singing? Well, I’m fine with it,” Yuto replied.

“I like singing! Although I’m not a famous girl idol, I still sing for fun a lot,” Azami replied. Azami swung her legs a little content that she was near Yuto.

“Ehhh cool. Are you good at singing?” Yuto asked Azami. Azami looked thoughtful.

“I don’t know. I think I’m fine at singing but Nakito says I sound like a crow once a few months back. She said I got better though,” Azami replied.

“A crow…” Yuto trailed of. An image of Azami cawing appeared in his head. He quickly shook it away. That was a bad image. “That must be an interesting voice.”

“Eh you think so Yuto-kun? Ureshii (I’m happy). Maybe I’ll let you listen to my voice someday?” Azami suggested.

“Hmmm maybe,” Yuto didn’t know if he should be happy with that offer or not. The cawing image wasn’t that soothing.

“What about dancing? I think dancing is fun too,” Azami asked Yuto.

“Dancing…it’s nice,” Yuto replied. A silence stretched between the two. Yuto didn’t have anything to say and Azami was just happy to be near Yuto.

“Bread!” Azami randomly stood up surprising Yuto. He moved sideways a little surprised.

“Bread?” Yuto asked at the sudden change of topics. It wasn’t related at all to singing or dancing.

“I want to go to the panya (bread store) I always go to for curry bread,” Azami said.

“But what about Kuchiki-chan?” Yuto asked.

“A you called her chan and not me!” Azami immediately sat down again. “What is with that?”

“Eh…well,” Yuto tried to think of a reason. There topic had switched once more.

“Well it doesn’t matter!” Azami continued on and she stood up once more. Yuto blinked. That was fast of her, he didn’t even reply.

“Eh?” Yuto asked confused as he stood up beside Azami. Azami looked at Yuto with stubborn eyes.

“I’m going to the panya. When Naki-chan comes, tell her I’m at the panya and tell her to hurry up too,” Azami instructed she grabbed his hand with both of hers and shook it hard. “Arigatou ne (thank you) Yuto-kun.”

“Ha, hai?” Yuto looked blankly at Azami. She gave a straight nod and before Yuto could say anything more, Azami left the shoe racks. Yuto just stared at her blankly.

“Nanda yo sore? (What was with that)” Yuto asked the air. He got no reply.

When Nana looked up she immediately regretted saying sorry. She had to crash into him out of all the people she knew. It was her classmate and the only person who Nana despised being around. She didn’t know him well, but she always felt he was an attention seeker. He was always talking to somebody when she saw him. Gokusen 3 didn’t help either. It just made him seem more of an attention seeker. Wasn’t he the only one not interested in girls in that drama? Didn’t he have the cool role?

“Nana-san daijoubu? (Are you okay)” Takaki asked.

“Oh, it’s you,” Nana spoke in her ever so calm voice. She blinked once. “Daijoubu yo arigatou. (I’m fine thank you)”

“It’s you?” Takaki looked blankly at Nana. “Is there something about me?”

“You’re annoying,” Nana simply replied. Her simple statement shocked all those around them. Did the cold and quiet Haruki Nana just call the idol Takaki Yuya annoying? “Sore jya shitsureishimasu. (with that excuse me I’m leaving)”

Nana stepped to the right of him and continued walking. Maybe she could cook for her family tonight. It would be a hisashiburi (once in a while) thing anyway. They always liked what she made and ate it eagerly.

“Matte (wait)!” Takaki turned around to face Nana. Nana also turned around to look at him, her expression never changing. It didn’t even ripple.

“Is there something you want?” Nana asked coolly. Their head was locked as cold eyes stared at confused ones.

“No nothing,” Takaki replied shaking his head and breaking the connection. When that cold eyes met him, all that he was going to say just melted into thin air. This girl seemed dangerous in an unexplainable way. Takaki went back to heading for his destination.

Nana’s gaze didn’t leave him for a short while. Her cold gaze stared at him a little bit longer before she too, turned the opposite way from him and started heading towards the entrance. Nana’s movement was graceful and silent as she exited the school.

Takaki didn’t know what was really going on. He was the classmate of Nana and knew her name, but he had never talked to her. So what did he do to make her call him annoying? Did he say anything to her ever? The words you’re annoying still rang in his head. Takaki himself acted calm in Gokusen but he had never created such a calm and ice like voice. This girl wasn’t acting either. She was real.

“Hmm,” Nana looked at her black roses. She held one bud tenderly in the grasp of her two fingers. “I hope you will grow into a nice rose.”

Nana carefully snipped some flowers and held them in her hand. She could put those in her vase in her room later. The last batch had wilted. As Nana finished her gardening and entered the room she looked at the clock. It was 3:45. She still had a few minutes before she had to leave.

Nana put her roses into the skinny hourglass shaped white vase she had. She then placed her vase onto her desk. Black and white, an elegant touch to her simple room. Maybe she could draw right now. The vase would be a good thing to draw.

Nana brought out her sketchpad and her pencil. She pushed out her chair and sat down in a fetal position. This way, her sketchpad could rest on her legs. Nana was careful and detailed. The vase shadow contrasted getting slowly darker. Nana used her fingers to smudge the shadow a little. For the vase, she even drew the tiny cracked brown outlines that the vase had. The rose, she drew the tiny dew that was still on one of the roses, every single thorn and the tiny bent of the petal. Nana was almost like a professional artist.

Nana was working on the roses when she noticed that one of the rose had slipped from its original position. Nana frowned a little and put it back in its proper places. When Nana tried to draw it again, the rose had once more slipped. She frowned and put it back again. It kept slipping and after a while, Nana got a little bit annoyed.

“You’re annoying,” She spoke to the rose as if it was a person. A sudden flash of memory popped into Nana’s head. The memory of when she had said the same words to Takaki. Nana stopped drawing a few seconds and set the pencil on her desk. To think a single black rose could remind her of that memory. That was stupid.

“Nana! It’s time to go!” Nana heard her mom call from downstairs. It took her out of thought. Yes, that was right, she shouldn’t think about that memory.

“I’m coming,” She replied. Nana sat her sketchpad beside her pencil. She looked at the still out of place rose, gave a sigh and walked downstairs. The boy was annoying and shouldn’t be in her memory at all. She could forget by being busy. Hopefully.

Rin walked through the door as people around her immediately shuffled out of her way. Her stare was cold and piercing. Almost everything she was wearing was black. The only thing that wasn’t was the rim of her school uniform which was red. Her aura was intimidating and scary.

She could get ice cream again. That was one positive thing about school. Seeing the way how Rin could always help Nana, she could always get free ice cream too. That was one weakness of the cold Rin. Ice cream. She would do almost anything for it.

What was there to do once Rin got home? Her parent’s didn’t approve of her being all gothic. They would probably only complain when she got home. Maybe she could read the manga she had about vampires. What was the title? Vampire Knight? Or she could listen to music but that wasn’t going to waste time. Besides Rin was going to get yelled at about homework anyway.

“Hey, move,” Rin spoke coldly to a bunch of giggling girls younger than her. They immediately moved out of the way as they saw her stare.

“Go, gomen,” One of the girls spoke as an apology. When Rin looked at her she shrunk back towards the wall. Rin just continued walking.

Around the entrance, there was a bunch of boys giggling and rough housing. They were blocking the entrance much to Rin’s annoyance. She wanted to go home.

“Move,” Rin spoke towards them. Although they were taller than her, she wasn’t scared. No, Rin’s stare was her most lethal weapon.

“Gaki (punk), what do you think,” The boy stopped talking as he saw Rin’s stare. She gave a very icy smile.

“Yes?” Rin spoke.

“Na, nande, mo nai, (nothing at all)” The boy spoke. “Oi, let’s go somewhere else. Quickly.”

Rin watched as the boys ran of. How fun it was to scare people. Rin was amused about it but her icy smile disappeared. At least now she could go home without any worry. The door automatically slid open for Rin as she exited out to meet the cool air of an afternoon.

“Matte,” Rin turned around to see a boy run towards her. He was puffing hard and much to Rin’s annoyance had a very big smile on his face. She stared at him. He smiled back.
So her stare wouldn’t work with this person. So this person might as well be the only person who could face Rin. She didn’t like the sound of that.

“Nan dayo(what is it)?” Rin asked coldly back. “I have stuff to do. If you have to say something hurry up.”

“I was walking around when I saw you bullying all those people. Doushite? (why)” The boy asked.

“It isn’t any of your business what I do Inoo-san,” Rin replied coldly.

“No, I guess not but I just want to know why,” Inoo replied. “To be so mean. Isn’t that heartless.”

“I don’t believe in what I can see Inoo-san. You, the world in front of me. It doesn’t mean anything to me,” Rin replied. “Shitsureishimasu. (Excuse me)”
Rin started walking again. Who was this boy to think he could just ask something like that. Inoo didn’t even know her well. He had no right to ask why.

“Matte!” Inoo called again. Rin stopped walking again and turned around to face him her stare still fixed on her face. He still smiled.

“What does matter to you?” Inoo called down to Rin. Rin looked at him coldly.

“I may ask the same for you,” Rin replied before walking of. What mattered to her? Things she couldn’t see like ghosts and stuff. He didn’t matter that was for sure. She shouldn’t matter to him either. Inoo should just leave her alone.

“Oh hi!” Mayuko spoke loudly as she noticed the boy. She didn’t even realize he looked scared. Mayuko walked over and gave a pat on the back. “Shouldn’t you be at home or work? I’m here for my Science textbook!”

One thing about Mayuko was that she was very bad at reading the atmosphere. When a boy is scared, most likely a girl shouldn’t pat his back and act all happy like Mayuko was doing right mow.

“Ano(umm),” The boy replied clearly even more scared of Mayuko now. “Who are you?”

Mayuko gave a laugh. “Oh yes you don’t know me! Right! I’m鈴木 真由子 Suzuki Mayuko at your service! I know who you are!”
“That’s wonderful. Can you please not be so close to me?” Mayuko immediately moved back from the boy.

“Ah, sorry! I didn’t realize I was so close!” Mayuko replied still with her big smile. The boy just nodded clearly not amused.

“If you are going to get your Science textbook can you hurry please?” The boy asked in a tone that was intended to be kind. However, there was harshness in it.

“How do you expect me to grab something if you will be staring the whole time? It’d be so uncomfortable!” Mayuko replied.

“Why would I look at you?” The boy retorted.

“Why wouldn’t you?” Mayuko replied. The boy opened his mouth to shoot an insult but he stopped and closed his mouth again. When he opened his mouth once more, the words were kinder.

“Fine, I won’t look okay?” He said sighing. This girl was slowly getting on his nerves.

“Do you promise?” Mayuko asked. He nodded. Mayuko trusted his words. If a famous person lied then this world was useless. Then yet again, famous people were good actors and actresses. Lying wouldn’t be very hard for them.

She walked over to her desk and peeked in. While doing so Mayuko took a quick peek at the boy. He was looking outside. Satisfied, Mayuko grabbed her textbook. It was a good thing he wasn’t looking but what was he staring at? As Mayuko moved backwards so she could pull her textbook out, Mayuko was still thinking and she hit her head on the chair.

“Ite (Ow), baka tsukue (stupid desk)” Mayuko spoke to herself. She put her left hand on the bruise. The boy looked over at Mayuko from the window area.

“Are you okay?” He asked at Mayuko who was clutching her head with one hand and the textbook with another.

“Ah! You said you wouldn’t look!” Mayuko cried out.

“You just hurt yourself, what do you expect me to do? Ignore you?” The boy asked.

“How would you know I hurt myself if you didn’t look?” Mayuko accused.

“I don’t. You said ite so I assumed you hurt yourself. Who says ite unless they hurt themselves?” The boy was a little bit annoyed at this person. He could swear this girl was the most dorky person he ever met.

“I might. You weren’t supposed to look even if I got hurt,” Mayuko replied as she stood up. The boy sighed.

“You hurt yourself and you expect me to ignore you? I’m not heartless.”The boy replied.

“Of course I expect you to ignore me,” Mayuko replied starting to feel annoyed.

“Baka (stupid),” The boy muttered under his breath as he looked down. Then he looked at Mayuko again. “Can you leave?”

Mayuko’s final patience burst with that comment.

“Right now and with pleasure,” She replied through gritted teeth. With that an annoyed and angered Mayuko left the room.

“Stupid Ryutaro,” She muttered as she closed the door behind her and started walking towards the exit.

“Stupid Mayaki or whatever her name was,” Ryutaro went back to looking outside. His parents were sure late today.

Mayuko’s angry footsteps echoed through the hallway. She realized that although as annoying as Ryutaro was, this silence was even worse. It didn’t help for her to hear her own footsteps. She kept thinking there was a ghost or another person in the hallway.

“At least I grabbed my textbook. But why does time afterschool have to be so scary,” Mayuko shuddered as she continued walking. “Ryutaro-kun is creepy too. How can he stay afterschool by himself?”

Mayuko walked a little bit more shaking her head in disbelief when a sudden thought hit her.

“I forgot to ask him why he was here!”

“岡本圭人 Okamoto Keito,” The boy replied smiling. Miyuki blinked in surprise as she realized who he was. “And you are?”

“加藤美雪 Kato Miyuki,” Miyuki replied.

“That’s a pretty name. Beautiful snow,” Keito smiled. Miyuki blushed.

“Arigatou… (thank you),” She gave a slight bow as her voice trailed of. Silence stretched between the two as both ran out of things to say. Their teacher continued with his business as he ruffled paper in the background. The teacher probably didn’t realize but he was creating an even more awkward scenario for the two.

“Why is,” Miyuki begin but she immediately became quiet wondering if her statement would insult him. She was always careful about hurting others feelings.

“Hmm?” Keito looked at Miyuki. “Nanda (What is it)?”

“Nan demo nai(It’s nothing),” Miyuki replied quickly.

“Why is Kato-san here after school?” Keito asked the question that Miyuki asked. Unlike Miyuki, he didn’t find it rude at all.

“Ah, I always stay here after school,” Miyuki replied. Keito gave a small smile.

“You already told me that Kato-san,” Keito replied as Miyuki blushed in embarrassment.

“Gomen (sorry),” Miyuki replied her voice going quieter by the second. “I stay here after school since my home is empty until around 5…”

Keito didn’t catch the last few words but he nodded. So there was something wrong with her home. There was also something about five. Maybe five as in the time or the number of family members. Where else could five be used?

“Ah, I was supposed to be tutored so I can catch up on my studies but all I was giving were work sheets,” Keito spoke his side of the story. Miyuki stayed silent trying to figure out a way to not sound rude.

“So you are waiting for your parents?” Miyuki asked. It sounded a lot better than, so you are helping me and not doing your work? Or why are you not doing your work?

“Yes, that’s right,” Keito replied. Keito had told his dad to pick him up at seven expecting to be taught something. However, nothing was going on.

An eerie silence fell over the place as Miyuki and Keito both stopped talking. Miyuki took this chance to start doing her English homework once more. Keito would correct sooner or later, she had a feeling but at least Miyuki was getting something done.

Keito took a slight peek at her homework. She had changed the answers he told her was wrong. Miyuki’s work was sure neat. There was no erasing smudge or any pencil lines out of place. Of course, she still had mistakes on her English.

“Hey Kato-san,” Keito suddenly spoke up. Miyuki stopped her work once more and looked at him.

“Say the time in English,” Keito spoke in a calm voice. It was hard to tell if he was hiding something to it or not.

“The time?” Miyuki replied. She had no questions on her homework that indicated time. What did he want?

“Eh tou, (ummm) five…tenty five?” Miyuki replied looking at the clock. Five tenty five, five tenty five it’s past five! “I have to be going now.”

Miyuki packed her pencil case as she put her pencils and erasers back inside. Then she carefully placed her homework and her pencil case into her shoulder bag. They all slid in carefully as if Miyuki didn’t even want the stuff to slip out of place even a tiny bit. She then zipped up her bag, slung it over her shoulder and walked towards the exit.

“Kato-san!” Keito called after Miyuki. She turned around.

“Hai (Yes)?” Miyuki asked. Was he going to say bye?

“It’s fifteen not tenty five,” Keito replied. “You have very interesting English. It was a pleasure to talk to you.”

Miyuki blushed in embarrassment at her mistake once more.

“A, A, Arigatou Okamoto-kun,” Miyuki bowed and then she left the room. Their teacher did not seem to have noticed what just happened as he continued working on the computer.

“Sensei (teacher), may I phone my parents to tell them to pick me up?” Keito walked over to the teacher.

“Yes, why didn’t you say so earlier?”

“Hmm, sa (well)…”

“Why are you watching me?” Haruki turned around to face Hikaru. He gave a mischievous look back.

“Because you still haven’t told me what you are drawing,” Hikaru replied.

“Why do I have to tell you?” Haruki asked. It was her drawing after all. He was just interrupting her by staring and asking her what she was drawing.

“Isn’t it nice for someone to admire your work?” Hikaru asked. Haruki sighed. He wasn’t admiring her work; he was asking what it was. It was obvious it was the classroom too. How can nature have math questions on it?

“Ie (No),” Haruki replied as she started sketching the desks. She didn’t bother turning around to see Hikaru’s facial expression.

“I know! It’s part of a gakou (school)!” Haruki could guess right now that Hikaru had a huge grin on his face. He probably thought he was a genius. Now if she could turn around and punch him…

“Sore kamo (Maybe that),” Haruki replied as she continued drawing.

“You said something different from something! Great so I’m on course, maybe it’s a classroom right?” Hikaru replied his voice somewhat more happy and mischievous before. Haruki was debating whether to say the truth or let him down.

“…Sore kamo,” Haurki replied again.

“Are you repeating sore kamo instead of something now?” Hikaru asked switching away from the picture.

“… Sore kamo (maybe that),” Haruki replied once more.

“Hikaru-kun! Kochi kite onegai! (Please come over)” Haruki heard a girl call from behind her. Please let Hikaru go. Please let Hikaru go. Haruki prayed over and over in her head. This way he wouldn’t disturb her drawing time.

“Mou sugu, (Almost)” Hikaru called back. Although Haruki didn’t show any facial expression inside her, she felt disappointed. It meant more questions that she didn’t want to bother answering.

“Is it your gakou?” Hikaru asked.

“Sore kamo,” Haruki replied again. If she repeats the word, maybe he would be annoyed and go away? Instead, Hikaru was even more pressuring.

“Sore kamo, sore kamo. Then it is a gakou. I say this classroom!” Hikaru replied with a huge smile. Haruki ignored him and continued drawing. He can shine in his own “smartness”. She wasn’t going to join.

“Hey anta! (you) Hikaru-kun o kotae! (Answer Hikaru)” Haruki heard a girl behind her say. A chorus of girls agreed with this one. She could bet that Hikaru was thinking, are you going to listen to them or get killed.

“Gomen,” Haruki mumbled. That could silence them. Hopefully.

“Ma, minna (Ma, everyone) relax!” Hikaru spoke. Great he was acting like the alpha male leading a bunch of retarded females who were all swooning at the sight of the alpha. Haruki rolled her eyes. Hmm, so should she draw the apple on the teacher’s table or not…

“Haruki-chan, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” Hikaru said in a sweet voice. Haruki wanted to vomit.
However, she just started to randomly sketch the apple on the table. It sure was a good stress reliever to draw. She still didn’t understand why he was talking to her today when she was usually “non-existing” the rest of the days.
Great the girls were squealing. She couldn’t concentrate at all. Haruki was afraid to ruin her picture so she moved her paper out of the way and started scribbling on the desk instead. She was drawing little devils stabbing people. One person looked very strongly like Hikaru.

These people should just be quiet and go of somewhere. Anywhere. She hadn’t done anything. It was all Hikaru’s fault.

“Now, now, let’s all go somewhere else,” Haruki was surprised when she heard Hikaru’s voice. He jumped of the desk Hikaru was sitting on. Haruki heard single footsteps walking away. Then a whole pack of footsteps followed after.

“Arigatou,” Haruki quietly whispered. He had just helped her, whether purposely or not. But he had and that was the point.

“Daiki!” Raina waved her hands to the boy who was staring at the river. He turned and waved to her.

“Yo, Raina-chan! What’s up?” Daiki asked smiling as Raina came up closer. The two were classmates and also childhood friends. Their bond was very strong even if Daiki was a celebrity. Raina had to worry about crazy fans all the time. But it didn’t matter to her. A childhood friend was much more important.

“Nothing really. I had dance class. You know how I do hip hop?” At this Daiki nodded, “Well my mom changed it to foreign dance!”

Daiki immediately started laughing as Raina frowned at him. She sure didn’t find anything funny about that.

“What’s so funny about that? Daiki you should feel pity for me! Pity!” Rain replied a little bit annoyed.

“Imagining Rai dancing tango or salsa is too funny!” Daiki replied between his laughs. Raina lightly hit him on the head playfully. Daiki grabbed his head where she hit him and stopped laughing.

“Nobody said I was doing the tango!” Raina replied the side of her mouth was twitching as she tried not to smile. “I had to do some weird dance with my knees bent and my back straight.” There was a few seconds of silence as Daiki took that in.

“Doesn’t the dance have a name?” Daiki asked as he tried not to laugh. Raina cocked her head to the side as she thought for a moment.

“I don’t remember. I wasn’t paying attention,” Raina replied innocently. Daiki smiled.

“Well that sure shows that Rai doesn’t like the dance,” Daiki replied.

“Shut up,” Raina replied giving a little angry face at him. Daiki just started laughing once more.

“But beside that, what brings you here?” Raina immediately switched the topic from her dance. She had a feeling it would turn out like this.

“The bridge? I came for peace and quiet, but you arrived,” Daiki replied. “You made me laugh instead of letting me think.”

“Hey! Are you stating I’m not quiet?” Raina’s tone raised a little from the already loud voice she had.

“Well you sure aren’t right now,” Daiki retorted and with that Raina became quiet. The silence stretched for a short while as both viewed the scenery. After a while, Daiki started talking again.

“You know how I go to Horikoshi Gakuen right?” Daiki started.

“Hmm of course, all famous people go there. What did you fall in love with an actress?” Raina teased. Daiki was being serious and he shook his head.

“No of course not. I didn’t fall in love with anyone. The point is, Yamada, Chinen and Yuto also joined this year. It’s nice seeing them and all but, I just realized how restricted of a life I have now,” Daiki stated.

“Restricted? What do you mean by that?” Raina asked curiously at her childhood friend. He had a somewhat sad look on his face. The mood was turning serious and her bright smile changed as her face showed concern.

“Well, I most likely won’t be going to university and you will,” Daiki pointed out. “I have to come to Horikoshi because it’s the best place for famous people to go to. I can’t walk around normally. I probably won’t be able to talk to you sooner or later.”

“Then do you not like being an idol?” Raina asked.

“No, I like being one. I’ve been one since I was little I can’t go back now but…I just wish I wasn’t so restricted,” Daiki replied.

“Well which is more important your idol job or being restricted? And look we are talking right now. So the last sentence of yours doesn’t make sense!” Raina replied trying to keep optimistic. She put a smile on her face. “Daiki you have to smile too!”

Daiki gave a small smile at Raina’s cheering. She would always hear him out no matter what. Raina would also always try to cheer him up.

“Hmm if you insist,” Daiki replied.

“Oh, I do,” Raina spoke smiling. “I don’t see your restriction at all. But I’m not an idol. Think about this Daiki. If you have restrictions why not overcome it somehow? Let’s say as challenges for being an idol!”

“Hmm, Rai good idea!” Daiki agreed smiling. The two gazed at the falling sun parallel from the bridge. It glowed brightly showing a huge flaming sunset that engulfed the two. They were quiet and happy to be in the others company. Childhood friends were the best of all friends there was no disagreeing between those two.

“Daiki,” Raina spoke first this time. “Let’s go play somewhere together one day! Just to get you to relax and all that!”

“How? I would have huge paparazzi after me,” Daiki replied as he turned to face his friend. Raina face was bright red with the sunset glow. She also looked peaceful and thoughtful at what Daiki just said.

“Well then wouldn’t they be taking pictures of us right now?” Raina asked. She sure didn’t see any place to hide cameras unless they installed some in the bridges.

“Ahh, good point. Then let’s meet at this bridge again one day.” Daiki suggested.

“No! It’s too close to my house!” Raina immediately complained.

“Well shopping malls and amusement parks will attract too much attention,” Daiki pointed out to Raina. “If that’s what you are thinking; no.”

Raina gave a small pout before sighing. There was no point in disagreeing. “Fine Daiki have it your way. The bridge it is. At least it’s near nature.”

The two both nodded at each other. A mutual agreement.
