People with a bad reputation......
Posted 12/24/07
I would just try to mend the situation or help out. If you cannot help them change for the better (I don't mean change who they are, but more like bad habits if they want to change). If all else fails and you really can't do anything about them, just accept them for who they are and move on. If they have a bad reputation and still your friend, then you don't have to listen to what other people think. If its is a family member, you will have to deal with it as a family and sort it out. Good luck.

Yes, yes it is. You simply made a word more complicated than it already was.

^^ I recommend for you to just do your job, and keep poop... Ok?

~ If it is just a word, you are basically saying that such thing is not happening in our society. As It states up there, reputation is ubiquitous, for all of you that doesnt know, it means it is everywhere, it is like being omnipresent, but not exactly the same. Its ubiquity proves it, that it is not just one word, for it is happening right now, all over the world, and people are concerned about it.

~ If you have a bad reputation, just as the person below me says:

Would you care if you are ignored? No? Judging a person's reputation is everywhere, in schools, and in all other public areas, and it is setting a bad example on children. Bad reputation = giving children idea to be prejudiced, and to be racist. Good reputation = giving the impression to children that they are so high and up above, they can hurt people. Is it a thing you can call NOT complicated? Not just on children, but this topic has many effects, and it is not just a word.

~ Hurting people because of their bad reputation? Is that what you call just a word? What if that person dies? What are you gonna do?
~ To Poopkeeper: You are being so pessimistic, and it is not making you learn, thus making you not knowledgeable of the harsh reality that this world is in.
I'm enjoying how much you're proving your point through a forum full of children who don't know half the things they're typing and people who like to make people like you get so worked up over something like this.

Pessimistic? Quite vague since I'm you sure as hell didn't point out the reason for my pessimism (I sure as hell not learning shit from you by any means).

Reputation is just a word, a nice explanations of words being words is from that one movie with Morgan Freeman, The Shawshank Redemption when he was being interviewed on if he has been reabilitated (Good film).

~A bunch of children does not make a difference, how old do you think I am? 200?
~ Vague? You dont wanna know... You showed it at your first comment. Once a person comments on something, and if that comment is not optimistic enough, of course my first impression would be that. That is how it works.
~The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 drama film, written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The film stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne and Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding. The film portrays Andy spending nearly two decades in the cruelty of Shawshank State Prison, a fictional penitentiary in Maine, and his friendship with Red, a fellow inmate. This movie exemplifies the gap between box office success and popularity. Despite a lukewarm box office reception, The Shawshank Redemption received favorable reviews from critics and has enjoyed a remarkable life on cable television, home video, and DVD, and continues to be noticed by popular culture. It is frequently ranked amongst the greatest films of all time.
( I havent watched the film, but is indeed interesting.)

This guy agreed to...

~ The point is, in my opinion, reputation if far more important than just a word, so I hope thats ok, and nothing else. I do not wish to argue.

You nailed it, I could've sworn you were around 200 years old .

I'll type this out right now and it's more clear than any of your posts so far; my post was simply a statement, nor negative or positive. You highly misunderstood it as many people will misunderstand the meaning gay in a sentence in many ways.

Since you didn't see the movie (thanks for the whole info about the movie, I'm sure I'll be telling people that in the future), then you wouldn't understand my last statement. In the movie, Freeman describes on his behalf on the word reabilitated as a word he doesn't give a shit (a word he also says). That's just how I see upon reputation; I don't give a shit on your past and what you say you will do in the future, I judge on your actions the day we meet and from that point on. Before you recommend me to, "do your job, and keep poop," I'd love for you to at least get to know me before assuming I'm an ignorant being (ignorant because in your own words, you have pointed out that I simply ignore what is going on in my society).

I have a bad reputation as a womanizer and a druggie.

You see, my school is in a rich neighborhood and most of the kids are preppy. I dress fashionably, and have a few friends who use drugs, and thus - some people think I`m bad news.

Fortunately, I dont do drugs, I am in several AP classes and am smarter than most of them.

I suppose, the fact I moved back here from Hawaii doesnt help.

if they are either a family member or a friend then my only question is: why the fuck do you care what others think? who the heck gives a shit what others think, what's important is what you think of the person. no offense but your question is just stupid.

i hope this question is only theoretical and you're not one of those annoying, wishy washy "friends" who will only stand by their "friend" if it means you can still maintain a nice "i'm-such-a-wonderful-oh-so-good-person" image in public. if that's the case, no offense but you're not the type of friend or family i'd want.

if they're a good person you defend them, if they're not well, then all you can do is agree that they are wrong but love them and accept that they are fricken NOT perfect seeing as they are a family member or a friend.

as for all of you harping on reputation, i suggest you all worry more about what you think and less about what others think you should think. learn to think on your own and make your own judgements instead of relying on what the public thinks.

your own judgements no matter who self-centered and biased they may be are at least your own. think on your own rather than following the pack. this is what my parents taught me. they didn't teach me to rely on public reputation but own my own personal ideals.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned me yet. Good for you. Anyway, I leave people with bad reps alone until they mess with me. Then I take action.

It depends on what the bad reputation is about. If it wasn't too bad I would try to treat them nice and put myself in their shoes. If it was really bad, I am not really sure how I would handle it. If they were a child molester or they had murdered someone, I would probably stay away from them.
