I think it's pretty hot. I mean if the right person is wearing the outfit of course. Am I surprised that girls in japan are wearing these fashions on the street? absolutely not. Glad in fact.

Guys wear it as well. Mana, for example.

I see no relation between zombies and lolitas...
I love how this girls (and plenty of boys) look on those outfits, specially when well made... even tho they're kinda expensive

I personally prefer the Aristocratic style, not to girly, but still, Lolitas are cute in all of the styles. they're more like porcelain dolls, not zombies.

Visual Kei hair an make up I like better. Well, lolita clothing style and VK hair and make up do not match, but I wasnt trying to.

There's lots of different Lolita styles, EGA (elegant aristocrat lolita), EGL (elegant gothic lolita), Strawberry Lolita, White Lolita, Sweet Lolita, Cyber Lolita etc.

None of them look like zombies to me.
As you can see some look good in lolita outfits, some look less good. I personally think some of the outfits are adorable.

I guess you were referring to Visual Kei looks, which look more like this:

The only one I'd consider to be remotely gothic (by today's standards) would be Erololi.

The ones that fail miserably at it definitely scare me. Especially the ones that try to cosplay Mana. D:

Eww, I had to look the word remotely up, the definition was not too clear. But I hope it means "almost not at all". Anyway, the white and strawberry and cute etc. Lolitas to me are not much gothic at all.

XD lulz @ me using the wrong word.

Anyway, what I had meant was that erololi was the only one that could possibly be considered gothic, and even then, it'd really be a stretch.

Yeah, sometimes it looks rather ridiculous
But what I'm wondering about is, since the clothes are incredibly expensive how these girls can afford a complete wardrobe of Gothic Lolita stuff. I heard school girl prostitution is not uncommon in japan

.__. eep.

All the brand clothes are incredibly expensive, but you can get replicas for half the price, if not less. There are also a lot of people that make their own clothes.

^Yeah, I know, but over here the little of popular Gothic Lolita brands that get imported sell at incredibe prices, even 2nd hand. It seems to some Metamorphose or Baby The Stars Shine Bright is like a religion.

Lolita: refers to Vladimir Nobokov's novel of the same name where the narrarator falls in love with a precocious preteen girl [lolita complex]. A fashion trend orginiating in Japan where people dress up like little girls. Began as a combination of the French maid look with Alice in Wonderland.

Gothic Lolita: Lolita [above] mixed with gothic (Victorian-era borrowed mostly) fashion

Ooh, then BibbLe must've really not have liked Misa [Death Note]. Well me neither (but for different reasons).

I dressed up gothic loli style for Halloween (made it myself, so not so expensive :D)...but I'm in normal clothes usually. Though my friend likes to dress me up lolita-style and take photos of me.
