From japan no, from an asian country yes! Anime imo is particular style of art. I see americans trying to copy it all the time from the own crap shows, its soulless and boring, most of NOT anime.

Animes doesn't necessarily need to be from japan to be anime. It's just most anime are from Japan but not all.

well, anime is Japanese for animation. They just shortened it to "anime", like how they shorten many other foreign words.
So basically, you're asking, "is it animation if it's not made from Japan?"
Well... sure it is! lol

I think the confusion is coming from the misunderstanding of the word "anime".
As time goes on, words evolve, like everything else.
That's how many slangs are formed.
I think the word anime has evolved to mean animation exclusively from Japan, since the Japanese animations became so popular throughout the world.

So my answer is, animation is animation no matter where it's made; however, nothing beats Japanese animation!
I enjoy the cartoons that's made in America too, but anime (Japanese animation) has more of a story and the art is more suited to my eyes.
Anime is also more mature then most American cartoons, since most cartoons here are targeted towards kids, with the exception of some shows such as family guy (love family guy, but anime is still on the top of the list!)

It's still anime as long as
it has the same features such as big eyes, and fine lines.
It doesn't matter who draws it.

That's like saying:
sushi isn't sushi if a non-Japanese makes it.

If anime suddenly became a source of lots of money in america, i can guarentee you that Amercans could do it just as well. Same goes for any country. Cept Mexicans, god how i hate mexicans..............

More than likely if its an "anime" made from america it is or would be more kid friendly than if it was made anywhere else.
