'So tell me, you like the Idea that the FCC gets to tell us what we can and can't watch?' Your happy with the fact that they think we don't have the power to think for are selfs, and if we don't like something we don't have the power needed to change the (fucking) station we happen to be watching? I Like the Idea of choosing for my self what is good and what is not, I don't like the idea of someone doing it for me! (only brainwashed losers want someone to tell them what is good and what is bad!) '
Is there anything the FCC is good for other than telling us what we should and should not be watching, as if they own us and we are nothing but there puppets or slaves!?!?

i don't really care. i hardly watch tv anymore cause its just mind-numbing garbage that comes on XP

but the purpose for the FCC was to protect people, especially children from obscenities on television.... but the FCC is pointless now since this generation knows about sex more than ever, plus they can learn it off the internet or from magazines & more -__-;

I don't watch TV anymore either, except for the Discovery Channel and a few old sitcoms, so it doesn't affect me. I think the FCC used to be helpful because a lot of parents are too lazy to raise their own kids to not be vulgar, so they had the government do it for them. Now since the internet is so readily available to most people, its nearly impossible for kids to not be exposed to cussing and sex, so its pointless now. It seems like now its not so much about preventing vulgarity, since everyone knows what those bleeps mean and they only make naughty bits a little blurry, but rather to prevent the expression of controversial opinions to prevent overly-sensitive adults from being offended. I think thats a good thing because it means that there are less old people complaining about how immoral our country has become, and people who are really into offensive stuff can just go to Youtube or 4chan or tons of other places on the internet.

But then you have to take in the factor that they Filter the infermation that we get to see on tv. So thats a army of people that only Know what the FCC wants them to know. Ps.. Youtube does not allow offensive things, that kinda crap is removed. THE FCC has been braking into the Internet as well, along with a few other Goverment groups. So Internet is still not as free as you think it is. We as still being told what we are should and should not need to know.

Why should I care about a ton of people only being exposed to certain information? I'm assuming they filter information about politics and current events on the news, so even people who watch that know way more about it than I do even though they aren't getting all of the information.

Youtube has tons of offensive crap on it, there's plenty of people on there who make racist, sexist, etc videos just for the sake of offending people and getting views. There are also tons of other sites that have unregulated offensive content like 4chan and Encyclopedia Dramatica. Almost every extremely large forum will have tons of trolls going around being offensive just to annoy people. There are tons of massively multiplayer online games with people who go around offending others just to start fights. Even this forum could turn into a breeding ground for offensive content if enough people worked together. The content will eventually be removed, but that doesn't prevent the people who were around before it got removed from seeing it.

If the FCC has any influence on the internet, I definitely haven't noticed it. If we are being told what we should and shouldn't know, there still isn't anything preventing us from learning things outside of those guidelines.

The FCC has no say on the net and never will, the only thing they can control is what is shown on TV, music on the radio and what's at the movies but that does not stop unedited releases of the product from being released for adults to buy. As for 4chan they do have mods to get rid of illegal content but if you go to /B/ then yah it's your own funeral, i don't even go there and they have a 18plus warning before clicking on the site anyways. It's up the parents to set up blocking content on their computer but they will always be to lazy to do that and want to point the finger somewhere else. To be honest I hope this doesn't turn into a hate fest and so on but there is no controlling people.

Both Yahoo and Google monitor and snuff out undesirable information of the net. (but then the people to not own the internet, big businesses own the internet. 'Did you know What the FCC was made for.. To help maintain something that where we did not have choices. Now that TV has 100's of channels. the FCC is not needed anymore, if you do not like something you can always change the channel.

F&#k the FCC.
I don't need a bureaucratic nanny 2000 miles away, telling me what I can or can't watch, or hear, for my own good.

I'm offended that someone else want to tell me What I should not watch.
One can make the argument that the FCC keeps us safe by preventing pornography being show on TV. "For the Children" of course.
News-Flash, It's not up to government to right every wrong by interfering in our lives, even if it is for the children. It is government stealing the roll of mother/father and endowing unto itself with no constitutional authority to do so.

Should children watch porn? No, I don't believe so, but I just as much beleve it is not the roll of government to decide for me if they should or should not.

This should be the roll of parents to instruct their children what they can or can't watch.
As for adults, If you really think you need government telling you what you can't see on TV just because it offends them, then be happy. You got it.

As for the rest of us normal people. We'll be watching whatever the hell we want. Un-offended, un-insulted, and just maybe, a little better educated than before.

ha that's good but what is really funny is that the creator of family guy is a really outspoken against the FCC and well I can't blame him for it. I do however love the fact I can buy uncensored dvd's of the same material but shouldn't be censored in the 1st place to begin with, hell if anyone grew up watching looney tunes or even some of the Steven Spielberg cartoons such as Anamaincs or Pinky and The Brain there where tons of adult jokes underlined in the shows that you did not get when you where a kid, sadly you don't even see that anymore so yeah thanks so much FCC for censoring my child hood by not even showing those cartoons anymore.

It's not that, it's just that the handful of people who get offended at every little thing and make a big fuss about it don't want any content that they disagree with being displayed to anyone.

SO the over-medicated religious grandmothers get to dictate what the rest of us should and should not watch?

'Might seem a little rude, but come one who else would be so out to white wash tv? Who else think violence is ok but a naked body is not!'
