Takeshi Hosomi's new band "the HIATUS"
Posted 5/27/09
the HIATUS have just released their first album, "Trash We'd Love," and I have to say, even after only listening to it once so far, I love this new band. Takeshi Hosomi (of ELLEGARDEN fame) is the lead vocalist and guitarist, and as far as I'm concerned he has truly perfected his English pronunciation for this album. Though people would often say his voice was hard to distinguish as being that of an Asian man, up until now I have disagreed with this. I've always thought his voice and lyrics were a little off, as opposed to other Japanese bands like OCEANLANE or RADWIMPS. But now I can say it is impossible to tell. He's truly perfected his voice for English sung songs, even losing the whiney sound a bit, and improved it in general.

So what do you think of this band so far? An improvement from ELLEGARDEN, a disappointment, or somewhere inbetween? I would have to listen to the album a bit more but so far I am simply in love with this band. It's not like that was not what I was expecting, but they're just as good as I was expecting, if not better. I love the piano/alternative rock sound just as much as ELLEGARDEN's more pop punkish sound, and Takeshi has matured greatly as a musician imo.

I just listened to their song, "Ghost in the Rain". I like the style. And, you're right, the english is pretty good, very understandable.

I am the biggest fan of ELLEGARDEN, and when they broke up I tried so hard to contact Hosomi and tell him
that whatever project he's working on next I'll support him and then comes the HIATUS, and I LOVE them.
It's a different sound than ELLEGARDEN, which is why I love. I lyrics are different, the tunes are different.
I will forever be Takeshi Hosomi's biggest fan ^____^

i have it on repeat in my car
heard it playing at tower records in japan and i never randomly bought a cd before but I decided to for this one (even with the 2500yen price tag) and im very glad i did

Yeah, I agree about track 7. It's just very boring in comparison to the rest of the album. My personal favourites are 堕天 and Lone Running Train.
