I'm sure these things happen to girls all the time, especially in Dubai.
Why don't they get this much attention?

You don't see the news pay all that much attention when it happens to a girl.
In general; It seems it is, somehow, more tragic to people when it happens to a boy.

If the headline was:
-Girl, 15, Raped in Dubai-
Would it still have been posted here?

No, because rapecases concerning females are giantheadlines everyday on the news. That's why it's exactly the other way around.

It gets much attetnion because you nearly never hear about it.

IDK about where you are but...
Around here, male or female, it's hardly in the headlines. Unless it's a child/young adolescent.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying one is worse than the other. It's just that the media, and society, have always payed more attention to male victims. Ignoring the everyday rape of millions worldwide, and instead going for the ones that somehow seem more shocking. Like say, a boy in a foreign country.
Instead of of publicizing the cases, and potentially humiliating the victims themselves, maybe they should focus more on preventing them in the first place.
You know?

Can't say I have been everywhere already but all the countrys I have been to were the same. Rape cases were always giantheadlines for days and were ALWAYS concerning females.

The newsmarket may be overfed with these headlines in your country so they put them on the second pages for some time but normally violence against females is always a giantheadline whereas violence against males just doesn't seem to be interesting.

Eventhough this thread got already 625 hits and 66 comments in a short time, I for some reason never heard about this case in the news of my country. Try a googlenews search for 'rape' and compare the number of cases with a male victim. There are as much teenage boys as girls on this planet but still male victims are nearly never on the news.

What you write is just rubbish.

Holy crap!!! What's wrong with these arabs!?! Now it's in Saudiarabia!

Police hunting rape suspects

TAIF: Police have launched a hunt for seven men who allegedly kidnapped and raped a 15-year-old boy on his way to school in Taif on Saturday.

The teenager was walking in the Al-Shuhada district of the city when two cars blocked his way. One of the drivers forced the boy inside his car by posing as a police officer wanting to check his identity. The men then took the youngster into the desert outside Taif.

The teenager tried to fight off his attackers, but was beaten by one of the men, said a police source. The men later dropped him off in Al-Wesam district.

The boy was unable to give plate numbers of the cars, but said one of the men made a telephone call, which police were able to trace. The victim also told police that one of the men lived in his neighborhood.

Google is not my source of news.
The television news networks, as do the papers, of my country suffice.

The only other time I've seen it headlined, for a significant amount of time, is if the victim was murdered.
In that case, it is no longer a rape, it is a murder.

I wrote googlenews, not google. They list articles in newspapers by headline.

Even still, It's not my source of news.
And, is still completely irrelevant to what I've said.
