“As anime fans know, FUNimation Entertainment had planned, with the authorization of Toei Animation, Fuji Television and Shueisha, for the first ever online simulcast of the series ‘One Piece’ tonight at 9:00 pm CDT., just one hour after its premiere on Japan’s Fuji Television. Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours we have determined that the FUNimation servers were compromised, even though we employ strict security standards. An unknown individual accessed and posted episode 403 online and as a direct result of this illegal act, all U.S. and Canadian fans will be deprived of access to this great anime series for the immediate future. We will make every effort to locate and prosecute the perpetrator(s) to the fullest extent of the law and will provide updates regarding this most serious matter.”

It sickens me when i think it could happen to crunchyroll as well and it was by a group we all know too well (HorribleShit)

What are your thoughts on this matter and online piracy in general?

Okay i just found out some more info on the subject, it turns out that horrible subs is behind the leak and so on the same people that provide our subs here, here is a link for proof with and so on. I mean i do download anime but when it comes to disturbing other people watching anime online because there parents won't let them download on there computer etc. I found it ironic to be honest.

crunchyroll actually asks and signs a contract with the company (of whichever anime) stating to post the episodes online at this site (with some restrictions maybe)
source wikipedia

but with many people posting alot of anime online (around the world) and, rule or not, it'll be a pain to take them off online.
It's like the saying, once online, stay's online.

although it's really hard to decide on online privacy, but i hate it when people call an anime (or steal from the anime) like their own...

I wonder what happened to the perpetrators... is Horrible subs still going on or something?

I'm just glad Funimation got the rights back again and is showing One Piece on their website with subs now...

They got subs for my favorite anime, that's all I need to be happy
Though I still don't like their dubs...

I don't have problem with both. It depends but mostly i like sub. DBZ, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist, Original Yu-Gi-oh had a good dub.

Yeah I agree that DBZ dub was good, so was rurouni kenshin.
I actually prefer DBZ dubs over subs, because Goku sounds weird in the original Japanese ver...
but if they'd change Goku's voice, subs all the way!!!
When I was younger, I watched yu yu hakusho in dubs and I liked it a lot; however, going back to watch it again in dubs... something was just not right lol

We really need more anime fans here in the U.S!! so then the anime industry can get more money to hire professional voice actors...
have you notice how good the voice overs are for family guy, the simpsons, ...etc, and every disney movie...? BUT not for anime!!

Uh family guy, the creator does most of the voices, for the simpson's one lady does most of the voices, now disney movies they like hiring big name people to do voice acting. And I think cowboy bebop has the best dubbed voices out of any anime out there.

But hey, some Miazaki films have been done by some big names as well.

^ Yes of course Miyazaki films will get famous people to do it =O Because they have money to hire talented people. As for family guy and simpson, I know both has like one person doing many voices, but that's talent man... I doubt they can get talented professionals like them to do anime dubs T.T
That's why we need more anime fans in the U.S

[edit] I don't know about you guys, but when I went to high school, about 1% of my class knew about anime at all... x.x
If not for my Japanese classes, I think it'd be the same in college.
Luckily I took Japanese classes, so I don't feel like I'm the only anime fan ever alive in my state!!!
