( Gokinjo Monogatari ) Neighborhood Story... Is a great slice of life story that even todays Animated shows can not compare to wen it comes to Characters and Story. I give it a 9 out of 10 stars.... 1 off for how hard it is to find....

"Other good ones would be "Touch" longer series, with a great story, unlike most of the newer anime... I also give that a 10 out of 10 stars.

Last one I will bring up is irresponsible captain tylor.. who single handly bring good charcters together in a action pack Space wars with perverted carefree Lucky as all hell capten. 10 out of 10 stars!

Now its your turn list classic anime better than anything you see today and talk about the others that been listed what do you agree with me or do you not?

I don't know what you would call "old" but I'd rather watch Hunter X Hunter or Trigun and there is a lot more better stuff then some of the new crap

I can honestly tell you, the only new anime I'm currently watching is Fullmetal Alchemist - Botherhood. The remake series is indeed better than the first horrible attempt (I also love the opening theme and ending theme), but even that isn't really that great. I tired watching many of new anime series (ongoing series don't count) that 2009 brought out and my answer to those anime is that over 90% of those animes are quite lackluster ...

It seems to me anime of today are just joining in something I like to call the Bishounen boom trend and the Bitchy Pedo Girl trend because its an easy strategic move in capturing in the bishounen/lolicon lovers for guarantee profit. And that's not all, the same overly used plot device of having an average joe making his/her very own harem/reverse-harem just from being nice, good old Hollywood explosion, a young teenage boy being a coward as well as a kindred spirit is somehow freakishly powerful due to some f**ked up reason and don't forget our lovely generic fanservice are ALL STILL USED TODAY!!!! The current the animes generation also have an illusion of believing that if the anime is visually appealing, its all goooood .

I mean come on, its not like I'm asking the current anime generation to be at MONSTER level (a top notch psychological anime), or be 100% ORIGINAL. I just want them to create animes of back when the story plot was GOOD and showing COMPELLING characters that have ACTUAL character development, not the underhanded cheap tactics that animes uses now.

animes that kick now adays anime butt
Touch
----- Baseball, brothers fighting over a girl, and holy moly this anime seems like it has actual personalities to their characters. None of them are generic, it is like watching actual people.

Cowboy Bebop
------ I do not know if this is considered old yet, but it is about 10 years old and it still beats almost every anime series ever. Great music, characters, storyline, everything about it is legendary.

Legends of Galatic heroes
----- By far the best OVAs ever made. Proof of this is that there is about 110 of these OVAs. Basically most realistic way space battle would be done if battles ever happen in space. Also most realistic strategies. The makers of this anime must have read lots of war history about Alexander the Great, Julius Ceaesar, Napoleon.

Monster
----- The most evil and intelligent villian to date. Yagumi light would piss his pants if he ever ment the evil guy in this anime. If his name was writtin in the death note, the death note would burn itself out of fear of this guy. That being said, it also has the most interesting storyline I've ever seen. I could write a novel about all the what, where, when, why, hows of this anime and still have more to write about.

..Saiyuki Gaiden is the best for me!!

its kinda like a 10-year old manga....but it has such a great story....
tragic story.......

and has a bittersweet ending...................

'coz Konzen, Tenpou and Kenren died [based on Saiyuki]..........
but after it...they got reincarnated after the incident....................

lol... Hmmm.... Oldies that are goodies... Well, there is one that I used to like a lot, but I don't know the name. x.x It was one of the ten animes that got me into anime. And all i remember is that the manifestation of the power in that anime was gice (I'm not sure if it was JP anime or NA anime, but it was JP style with English voices).

But yeah... back when I didn't know what subs were there were a few good ones. A lot of the new ones are just silly although I still like them. There is very few anime that I put off till later and there is no JP anime that I hate.

Still, I do know quality anime when I see it.

Now if we were to go into non pg-13 stuff, there is lots of ones with beautiful storylines, but... have scenes that might not be that great (If only there weren't those scenes, they'd be such great animes T_T )

But lets see.... PG-13....

Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Da Capo (Bit newer and a bit more harem-like), Aria are a few that I remember right away. (I'm not listing all of them. I'd be here till the next century XD ).

Hmm,

I loathe, despite and look down on the anime watchers nowadays. They're rejecting every old and underrated anime what's actually a good and way more better than the anime these days. I recommended a girl two days ago a anime called, Seirei no Moribito, she said it sounded boring without even giving it a chance! Normally you would check it out first before stating your opinion. I mean, yeah it's from 2007 so, it's not considered ''old'', but the most of the people now are fucking spoiled. They've already decided if it is boring when they hear the name.

Animes like : Rourouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Rose of Versailles do they know. But animes like: Plawres Sanshiro, Miracle Giants Domu-kun and Captain Tsubasa ( I even saw a girl saying that this anime is disgusting )
do they not appreciate at all. I wish that those fakers just would shut the fuck up, watch things as Spngebob Squarepants Instead of disgracing us, anime watchers who do appreciate anime.

Just wanted to give my two cents, before I'm contributing my list.

Maison Ikkoku
You're Under Arrest
El Hazard - The Magnificent World
Sailor Moon
Record of Lodoss War
Legends of the Galactic Heroes
Space Pirate Captain Harlock
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Mazinger Z
Nadia: Secret of Blue Water
Project A-ko
Tekkaman Blade
Highschool Kimengumi

I agree with u...
sometimes people disgrace the old anime itself even don't watched it
I am a female and watch captain tsubasa when 6th grade
that time I think that's cool
No one should judge anime before even check it out...

BTW, my fav. old anime is digimon and digimon 2

nowadays, anime are surely has more easy storyline and based on fans-service...
I don't really like that... especially shoujos moreover hentai

But I still like the fantasy anime
