Having recently been blessed with hearing some lovely acid jazz by Goto Yashiki, I've explored the genre some more, and loving every second of it.

So I thought I'd share my love for this great genre, with you guys. (Even if it probably will be under-appreciated).

For those that are already familiar with this genre, please share the songs you know of, and what you think of it. Any input is appreciated. :)

For those that don't know, there's always wikipedia: Acid Jazz.

Here's some of the songs I've listened to, that have made me like this genre(s).

Gota Yashiki - Chillin' Children

Xploding Plastix - Treat Me Mean, I Need The Reputation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqak863vu7k&fmt=18

Cinematic Orchestra - The Man With The Movie Camera

Jazzanova - I Can See

Mr. Scruff - Music Takes Me Up

Kyoto Jazz Massive - Shine

Nice stuff... Image I really like the music of Kyoto Jazz Massive... They're the only ones I know from the videos. But all of the other artists are really good too. I hope to hear more of them. Image

Four80East reminded me of the groove of Medeski Martin & Wood.. Though Four80East probably sounds more electronic..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgyHqJ4U1UE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuCXJlfeq7I , John Scofield with MMW in the first one. Be sure check them out.. They're a great band.

And you'll probably like some of the songs in the GT5 prologue soundtrack too..: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=3311E2E5CCC97A64

Those are the only ones that I can think of which sound like the songs that you've posted.. hehehe Image Anyway, thanks for sharing the songs and I hope you continue to discover more of Jazz music.. Acid Jazz is just one of the great sub-genres of Jazz.. Image

Glad you liked them. The songs you linked, wasn't really my kind of cookie, pity. : p

And looking at the replies, I guess the other Crunchyrollers are too busy listening to J-Pop and overrated artists in general. Image

This all started when the fan girl and fan boy immigrants start settling in crunchyroll telling their friend to join crappy groups and fan groups . Making to much groups in cr and spamming your notifications saying accept or deny >,> its life.......

EDIT

Ah, is that so? Well to each his/her own I guess.. hehehe

Yeah. Image Sometimes the thing that makes them listen to J-Pop and the like, isn't really about how the artists sound like but about how they look like... But of course there are still some decently produced J-Pop songs.. Though not a lot of them... hehehe

And thanks again for sharing these great artists.. Image

Guess you could say so, I suspect some people of not daring to try out new things.

pfft. Your thread was made 1 day ago. Don't expect your thread to be flock so much with that little time frame so far. sheesh. :p
You worry about it when 3 months or a year has passed but only few have try to even bother.

I'm open to everything.
In fact, I also listen to enka songs.
I even prefer listening to Sung Si Kyung's version of Whenever, wherever, whatever than the original version of Maxwell.

What's enka?

It sounds country or traditional

It sounds like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enka

Korean ballad is on the par or better than enka, in my opinion.

Acid Jazz? If you are looking for any American/English bands, then try The Soft Machine (3rd album and after, as their first two are mainly just psychedelic weirdness), Gong (more psychedelic weirdness, but they have a jazz influence), Medeski Martin and Wood, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, some Frank Zappa, and Garaj Mahal. Hope that helps.
