Having recently been blessed with hearing some lovely acid jazz by Goto Yashiki, I've explored the genre some more, and loving every second of it.
So I thought I'd share my love for this great genre, with you guys. (Even if it probably will be under-appreciated). For those that are already familiar with this genre, please share the songs you know of, and what you think of it. Any input is appreciated. :) For those that don't know, there's always wikipedia: Acid Jazz. Here's some of the songs I've listened to, that have made me like this genre(s). Gota Yashiki - Chillin' Children http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdm9GORwv9Q&fmt=18 Xploding Plastix - Treat Me Mean, I Need The Reputation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqak863vu7k&fmt=18 Cinematic Orchestra - The Man With The Movie Camera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvTF6B5XKxQ&fmt=18 Jaga Jazzist - Animal Chin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVIFUQV20NM&fmt=18 Free the Robots - Jazzhole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T9r9_8Pd2s&fmt=18 Jazzanova - I Can See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXDdXFeo7ck&fmt=18 Mr. Scruff - Music Takes Me Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ojl2KLCGT4I&fmt=18 Kyoto Jazz Massive - Shine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovu45frPFe0&fmt=18 Four80East - TKO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHX-wPwQVdE&fmt=18 De-Phazz - The Mambo Craze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEfCBTwtr-4&fmt=18 Hird - I Love You My Friends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaC2bYkEWeY&fmt=18 If anyone is interested, I have some albums uploaded, just message me if you're interested in more. |

Nice stuff...
I really like the music of Kyoto Jazz Massive... They're the only ones I know from the videos. But all of the other artists are really good too. I hope to hear more of them. Four80East reminded me of the groove of Medeski Martin & Wood.. Though Four80East probably sounds more electronic.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgyHqJ4U1UE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuCXJlfeq7I , John Scofield with MMW in the first one. Be sure check them out.. They're a great band. And you'll probably like some of the songs in the GT5 prologue soundtrack too..: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=3311E2E5CCC97A64 Those are the only ones that I can think of which sound like the songs that you've posted.. hehehe Anyway, thanks for sharing the songs and I hope you continue to discover more of Jazz music.. Acid Jazz is just one of the great sub-genres of Jazz.. |

Well to each his/her own I guess.. hehehe Yeah. Sometimes the thing that makes them listen to J-Pop and the like, isn't really about how the artists sound like but about how they look like... But of course there are still some decently produced J-Pop songs.. Though not a lot of them... heheheAnd thanks again for sharing these great artists.. |

Your thread was made 1 day ago. Don't expect your thread to be flock so much with that little time frame so far. sheesh. :p You worry about it when 3 months or a year has passed but only few have try to even bother. I'm open to everything. In fact, I also listen to enka songs. I even prefer listening to Sung Si Kyung's version of Whenever, wherever, whatever than the original version of Maxwell. |

Acid Jazz? If you are looking for any American/English bands, then try The Soft Machine (3rd album and after, as their first two are mainly just psychedelic weirdness), Gong (more psychedelic weirdness, but they have a jazz influence), Medeski Martin and Wood, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, some Frank Zappa, and Garaj Mahal. Hope that helps.
