Are you really 15? I certainly wouldn't expect someone of your age to have interest in jazz, or even be in a band of that type.

Hiromi Uehara sounded quite good. The others weren't really my type of cookie. : p

Edit: Also, double posting is a no-no.

As 15 as they come haha

My freind who plays sax got me into playing jazz a couple of years ago and me and him started a band with some other kids at our school and from DYJO (Devon youth Jazz orchestra). We don't really rehearse enough but we've got a couple of gigs coming up and have had a few in the past so it's all good.

Yeah, Hiromi is pretty different from some of the Jazz my freind listens too (more a mixture of classical and rock) haha

And cheers, i'll keep that in mind in the future :D

Ah, cool. Question is, do you guys have talent? :P

Some jazz feels a bit tedious, so always nice with something snappy.

If it's talent you're looking for... :P

My freind on sax is grade eight and improvises like anything and the rest of us keep up well. We've been tightening up on our performances and are getting better. We mainly do upbeat Funk stuff but you know how Jazz is haha It can go on for a while...

Sounds nice, as long as you keep at it and the motivation is there. Wish I could play an instrument, well I know some xylophone but that's most of it.

Yeeaah... Some jazz music goes on for too long, making it boring listening to. Unless it's a very sharp and snappy melody.

Edit:

Jaga Jazzist's newest album is gorgeous.

Here's one of my favourite songs on the album:

i think this is a good example, but their songs are often electronic/house

and you have the shibuya-kei genre too, that's a mix between jazz, pop, and electropop, look it up on wikipedia and you'll find lots of artists ^^

I've never heard of 'Acid Jazz' before! :O I just listened to a load of the links up top and I like it alot :D

Of course there are so many branches of Jazz music it's imposible to find them all but I can't believe I've never heard any of this! This is soooo my kind of music.

I'm in a Jazz/Funk band and we play more traditional:

Maceo Parker - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv_UUIvKT-k&feature=related
Average White Band - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfAJLGFWxYo

(I dunno wether you'll like any of them but hey :P)

Have any of you ever heard of Hiromi Uehara? She's a fantastic pianist in a Jazz Fusionesque sort of band you might enjoy:

All of this is heavily underpruduced to the Acid Jazz I checked out from here so when I compare them... Well haha

Candy Dulfer gives me an orgasm when she plays

Figured I'd revive this thread with some more songs I've *found*.

Skalpel - Theme From Behind the Curtain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6E_ND7nExI

DJ Food - Turtle Soup
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHoGCNaDKHI

DJ Food - Ageing Young Rebel (One of my favourites)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-MFQRhKq9I

Escalator Over The Hill - Hotel Overture (excerpts) (Carla Bley & Paul Haines)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQbB0_eZxbw

Been a while since I found loads of nice jazz, guess it is time to expend some more in that musical region.

Wow, this thread looks interesting.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of Jazz but I am growing a likeness towards it. Actually, one of my friends loves jazz and has me find VOCAJAZZ (Which is VOCALOID Jazz, btw) for him all the time. That's actually the only way I listen to jazz. After a while, I grew to enjoy it.

I actually started looking in the Music Forum on here to see if there was anything about VOCALOID and figured out that I would need a lot of time to figure out such a thing (so many topics...) and discovered this place. So, you've gained a new follower. =]

Idk why but I find John Coltrane's "Once In A While" piece to be really sexy. Must be the combination of sax and piano I guess.
