God damn it! I leave the forum for a day or two and what happens? The thread get further and further down on the forum. We can't let unmusical threads like " who is your favourite *insert Japanese/Korean boy band here*-member?" take over!
Fellow jazz-cats, UNITE! And now, on with the discussion! Let joy be unconfined. Let there be dancing in the streets, drinking in the saloons, and necking in the parlor. |

I typically enjoy the older styles of Jazz. So much emotion in their music back then.

Im really trying to get into jazz but I'm struggling to find whats for me. I loved the original soundtrack for Hellsing and the improv parts of 'Kids on the Slope' but listening to the songs the improvs are based off just doesnt have the same energy, and I havent found anything else like the Hellsing OST. Suggestions?
Edit: A quote would be great so I dont forget I posted here! |

It took me a long time to find the type of jazz I enjoy and even today I'm trying to enjoy the more traditional jazz. The thing with the songs from Kids on a Slope is that they are so called jazz-standards, meaning that you can find tons of different variations of one song depending on who's playing. Sometimes it's fast and sometimes it's slow. There's a genre called hard bop which is a little more energetic and fast than the regular cool bop or jazz. Check out Art Blakey's The Jazz Messengers. They were one of the first groups who played this type of music. |

I listen to alot of funk-metal style bands (Rage against the machine, early hoobastank etc). Any suggestions in that area? |
