i like the reviews :)
although they wouldnt influence whether i watched something or not, it's nice to see why other people like the series so much :)

i would like the reviews if they had anything to do with the series.
i looked at the reviews for shugo chara.
one "review" was literally 7 screens of character bio's. including pics of each one.

"oh yea, thanks, super helpful"

You mean that most users just post a brief synopsis....

I actually mentioned to the mods that it would be cool if there was a reviews guideline to at least help people to....reach the real deal; review. Not sure if anyone took me serious though....

oh hell i WISH they posted a brief synopsis. i mentioned one who posted a 7 page list of character bios.... but that skips over the dozens of others who posted 3 and 5 page lists of bios, or just logged the entire story detail for detail.

most of the ones who posted something 'brief' were along the lines of "omg i love _____ so much he's so [adjective]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this series is really awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

you've got my vote for a set of gudelines to follow.
i still suggest that they should all be moderator scanned before officially being put up. or getting a note returned; "a bio of every character isn't a review", or such.

Ah, well you can report it as spam if it really goes along the lines of "7 pages nothing but pics and bios".
The libraries are going to be moderated much more in the future. As you might have noticed, they were searching for Library mods just recently and are now deciding on which applicants to pick. I presume that handling reviews will also be a minor part of their tasks.

And yes, that's a fair method you're mentioning. But waiting for approval of mods for each submitted review can drag out as Hell....But I know quite a few websites who are practising such a method.

Then there's also this method where people first have to become validated reviewers. As in..they first have to submit a good bit of passable reviews as in..they got approved by the mods and then they are allowed to submit reviews without having to wait for approval of the moderators.

Well...all the technicalities involved

yea i've seen something like that in places around. i think that would be a great idea.

initially assign a group of mods to handle it.. then as they train up the first batch and graduate them, the reviewers take over their job.. eventually the high level reviewers will be able to submit their own, as well as approve or 'return for editing' a submitted review, with reasons. the the mid-level folks can submit their own, but are still earning their way to high level status, and the low level guys are the everyday folk who still need their reviews approved first. like say 20ish reviews approved without needing edits to graduate to self-supervised, then say 100ish reviews that haven't been complained about, plus a certain period of time to become a review supervisor.

just spittin out ideas here.

2. Watchlists
Keep track of what you've watched! Add all the series you've ever seen, even if cr doesn't have it! For the ones that cr does have, it'll automatically update your watchlist! Just go to any series page and click on the Add To Watchlist link. Check mine out! (yes, these are actually the shows i've seen or plan to watch ;P)

The watch list has flaws. When I go to add a few of the series that I'm watching, I get "Invalid item to add." So with that happening, how can you add all of the shows that you are currently watching? For example, these are some of the shows that I'm watching right now that your watch list doesn't recognize: Hanasekeru Seishounen, Genji Monogatari Sennenki, Sengoku Basara and Tayutama: Kiss On My Deity... just to name a few.
