Let's assume that common sense is just an "average" of things ranging from extreme risk taking, to panphobia (fear of everything).
In this way we can look at it like IQ and most other natural things, as a normal curve;

Normal people would fall at the middle, or at least within the dark blue bit (1 s.d.), slightly unusual people would fall in the 2 sections out from that (medium blue, 2 s.d.'s), and those who could be seen to have no common sense would fall in the last portions, with ~5% of the population.

Whether there is a correlation between high IQ and low "Functional IQ" or common sense, I do not know. However it is said that those less intelligent of us are very "Street Wise" - to quote Calvin... "It means they know what street they live on."

Sorry the file type can't show, but I assume you know what a normal curve looks like

I dunno, but Albert Einstein couldn’t tie his own shoe… People who are apt to intelligence are so because they think in a different manner. (Which, of course, is why playing classical music to unborn babies can increase their intellectuality.) Pattern of thought varies from individuals, which is why some people are wondrous at math, while others are wondrous at language arts. (Although, statistically speaking, most people who are gifted in math can also learn a language easier than somebody who is not. Still, you can understand the point I’m trying to get across.) Bipolar, for example, are famous for being talented artists.

So, all this being said, common sense is called common because those who are blessed with it are blessed with the normal pattern of Human thought. However, people with metal talents that come off as geniuses are actually just unique. This is why we have “Idiot Savants” and the likes…

But eh... Throwing junk at wasp nests.... *Snicker.* Well, that's alright... I once road my bike off a 5 story drop onto jagged rocks... *Was lucky enough to latch onto a bush when he realized what he had done.*

Hmmm, common sense is an ambiguous word again.
As for me, I would define it with applied knowledge, applied experience or practical intelligence or something like that.

By screaming "Omg, that's common sense !" people usually mean something you should naturally understand, because it's obvious, but they forget it wouldn't be obvious, if we all didn't already know about it. It's not an indicator for one's intelligence at all, rather for once practicalness. For example most people agree I'm smart :phew:, but I happen to be pretty stupid at dealing with trivial everyday problems, because I lack common sense sometimes.

^Edit: I couldn't tie my shoes until third grade

Common sense is rooted in logic skills. For instance, as you said, my logic tells me throwing bottles at wasps is bad cause angry wasps = stinging and stinging = pain. Some people do lack common sense, but others are just eccentric and will try things that conflicts with common sense just for the sake of it. If everyone applied common sense to all areas, many inventions probably wouldn't have been created.

Common sense is VERY rare these days. I just don't know why!!!
Isn't because I meet more people, or I interact with more people now I'm older, or that I'm just meeting lots more stupid people than I ever did before.

common sense is actually misleading it's not so common at all, it varies after location since it is mainly what is socially acceptable in each culture, for instance the thing with that if your bladder is bursting you go to the toilet, it's common sense, it's what is socially expected of you, the practical solution is to let it rip where you are, problem solved.
