Slow network connection makes watching CR videos nearly impossible for me.

Recently, my internet connection has been slower than it's supposed to be. I've already complained to them about it, but they haven't done anything about it. Just to note, the network I usually use is provided by my on-campus housing, and they told me they expect to end their current internet contract soon and decided to be lazy on maintenance. I also plan on moving to a new apartment where cable internet is included but have become so irritated with this problem that I don't really want to wait a month or so to be rid of it.

The main problem I have with this is that it makes video streams buffer really slowly where I normally have to wait quite a while before I could watch it without interruption and waiting longer to buffer more. This isn't too bad on sites like Veoh or YouTube where it loads the whole video if I'm patient enough. But I encounter a unique problem here on Crunchy Roll where once I start to load the video's page, pause it as soon as it starts playing, and then wait for a while, I notice that the buffering rate loads fine at first but slows down to no visible progress at all. I would switch to doing something else either on another browser window/tab or play a video game or something and come back later to find very little progress. Sometimes I would come back from even longer waiting periods to find almost no difference from the previously mentioned situation except for a not in the top-left corner saying "Connection Closed" which pretty much means I need to reload the page and start all over again.

The only way I've managed to get a video to load at a decent pace is to constantly return to the video, watch it until I reach the end of the buffer, and repeat the waiting-watching process. In probably one of the worst instances (and likely most common) I had to wait about 5-10 minutes for about 1 minute of content. At this point, it is impossible to watch a video end-to-end without interruption which makes a very bad viewing experience especially since I usually fill in that waiting time with watching a different video (usually off my own computer or a more reliable site such as Veoh as I mentioned earlier). As long as I keep the stream "active" I am able to watch something, but that wouldn't be a problem if my internet worked properly.

I have already sent a few bug reports about the videos but haven't noticed anything done about it. If this problem keeps up, I might cease my membership payments since I could spend the week waiting for a new show to be available watching series I haven't been able to keep up to date on recently.

TL;DR? CR makes watching videos on slow/buggy internet connections very frustrating.

If you have any suggestions to fix this other than "get a new internet connection" I would appreciate it, but I don't expect there to be much of anything I can do on my end.

Who exactly did you complain to? You really have to complain to the right people. Did you try the admins? And no. I'm not talking about shinji.

First of all... Hello neighbor =)
right now I'm just south of you in Oak Cliff.

About your problem, the team is working pretty hard on the video player. This site is constantly a 'work in progress'. If something seems slow or does not work right you can expect it to get much better in the future. But also this is not really a 'slow connection friendly' site.

I would recommend you do the usual stuff (update everything, clear cache, etc) and hope you get that cable connection soon. Or if you are on a laptop do what I did when I lived in apartments... Walk around and find an fast open connection
