TVXQ’s popularity increasing in Japan

TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki's popularity in Japan is ever increasing. Evidenced by the fact of their sellout of concerts at the famed Tokyo Dome and their single "Stand By You" achieving Number 1 on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart, but that's not all.

Recently, TVXQ's posters were put up in a subway in Tokyo and there was a lot of crazed fangirls trying to get photos of these posters. So much so that the subway had to hire guards to protect the pillars. Usually, this type of fandom was only seen for JE groups.

[FANACCOUNT] Tokyo Dome concert on 4th July 2009

I was overwhelmed by pride when I heard Tohoshinki's voices live at Tokyo Dome. Loving them all this while was worth it. Their musical talents and abilities are real. Well we can all love Tohoshinki for many reasons, if it was their looks that first attracts you, wait till you hear and see them perform. They have been blessed and have wrked hard to fulfill their talents.
My impressions of Tokyo Dome concert on 4th July 2009
My seat/ view at the Tokyo Dome was a good one. I could stay seated and still get a good albeit small view. I was content to get that perspective of their performance and did not have a real need to see them close as I just saw them upclose the weekend before at the Mirotic Concert. The crowd at Tokyo Dome was amazing. So so many females congregated at that place that day.
I was enthralled by how good Tohoshinki's voices were despite being in such a huge venue of 50,000 people. JaeChun's duet was a beautiful surprise...the song was angelic. It really helps that the Japanese crowds just silently watched the performances, even the dance performances. You can really appreciate Tohoshinki's singing in suach an attentive audience.
I'm always impressed by how Tohoshinki strive to be closer to the audience on their live stages. At a small stage, they would reach out touch the hand of an audeience. At a huge stage, they went round in mobile platformed and threw hand-signatured plastic balls to as many audiences.
I hope they'll continue to be this warm to their audiences. Close to the end of the concert, I could see how tired they all were. I could see it clearly on Changmin's face as he put his last ounce of energy to keep the song going. He was looking very intently at his hyungs to ensure that he gives them a hand should they be too tired and miss their parts. He was doing that so intently that he didn't even care how he looked on the big monitors. They were just focused on delivering the song well to the audience. It was amazing to see their teamwork...I was very touched.
I cried when they sang Begin accompanied by Yoochun's piano...it was just so beautiful...I was so touched. Thinking about it makes me want to cry too...
You guys are highly encouraged to aim to go for at least one of Tohoshinki's live performance in Japan. It would be an unforgettable experience! ^^

DBSK on Spanish National TV

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKZiLuM3tFw

Apparently it's the most-watched channel in Spain. Here's the translation:

They are called the Rising Gods of the East. Dong Bang Shin Ki, known as TVXQ, DBSK, and TOHOSHINKI in Japan. The group known with four (4) names are formed by five (5) Korean lads. No one is more than twenty-one (21) years old.

Since four (4) years ago they were known as the Backstreet Boys of Asia. They sing in Korean and Japanese, but they recently had to translate their official website to English because their popularity is already crossing borders.

They began singing a capella in a TV show in 2003 on Christmas, and they also opened for Britney Spears' concert. Even without a CD release available, their success had already given them two (2) hit songs in the top charts. Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan, surrender under their feet.

They sing, dance, make TV shows and of course they start trends. Here in Spain, people are starting to talk about them, and in places like Peru their fanclubs are growing up in numbers.

So watch out for Dong Bang Shin Ki, these almond-shaped-eyed popstars are starting to show up even at Karaoke!

YTN News From Tokyo Dome: Chasing After The Wind, Tohoshink

South Korea 5 members group who has been active in Japan, Tohoshinki is trying to spread the wind of Hallyu wave.

They’re the first Korean group who can successfully stood up on the big stage of Tokyo Dome.

Kim Sang Woo as correspondent of Tokyo Press is reporting from Tokyo.

[Report]

The home ground of Japanese pro baseball team Yomiuri Giants, last weekend afternoon within two days, I was lost in the chaos of female fans to watch performance of 5 members group singers from Korea, Tohoshinki.

[Interview: Tohoshinki fan in 40's]
“They’re singing and dancing look is perfect and they’re handsome”

The fans have been in a long line to buy concert souvenirs that is worth about 3~4 manwons (1 man = USD 16) for one.

They love Tohoshinki’s costumes and they had a hot battle trying to get at least one shot of their favourite stars.

[Interview: Tohoshinki fan in 10's]
“They definitely have amazing singing voices”

The concerts that took approximately 400 million won to product have had approximately 30,0000 audiences, started in last May in Kobe to 9 other cities.

They’re blessed with the glory to finally become the Korean group who stand in Tokyo Dome stage which can accomodate 50,000 audiences.

Tohoshinki has been selling their latest Japanese record for more than 300,000 copies and still running, proving the top star of them.

[Interview: Tohoshinki fan in 30's]
“The characters of the 5 are all very different, I feel that it is an appealing aspect to Japanese people.”

It might’ve been this reason that this person has sat down in a train station with a large picture of the hallyu star.

Tohoshinki, Big Bang, and BoA are the young singers who are aiming to spread the wind of Hallyu wave.

New CM Oronamin C, Tohoshinki in Collaboration with Ueto Aya‏

Aya Ueto as the poster character of Oronamin C Drink 2009 series and Tohoshinki as guest characters.

Until now, Aya Ueto has been co-acting with various famous stars from Aoyama Teruma to Bae Yoong Joon for Oronamin CM and for this series, Ueto is in collaboration with a vocal group whose popularity is in the peak, Tohoshinki.

The content of the CM is the disappointed OL (Office Lady) Aya Ueto is being encouraged by Tohoshinki who appeared suddenly through office wall. Then the 5 members are approaching while were singing in a capella. The CM has such a unique setting.

At CM’s shooting, in the first meeting to talk about the CM story, Jejung (Tohoshinki) asked, “Oronamin C.. if I drink 20 of this, is it alright?” with that question, he drank it up quickly, “Okay!”.

In addition to that, after all members drinking Oronamin C, Yuchon suddenly said, “Puah! Another cup!” then he added as knowing that he’s being supervised, “Oronamin C is more refreshing!” This scene gathered a lot of attention, for it looks so strange and everyone was finally wrapped up in big laughter.

In the end of the song, when the members sang the melody of “ORONAMIN C ~ ♪”, they formed letter C with their hands and then paused. Although the CM used a comic kind of song, the dance is super cool and stylish as always!

The new CM featuring “A capella Shinki” who enthusiastically sings a cappella to cheer up OL Aya Ueto with Oronamin C drink will be aired on 7 / 11 (Saturday) from OA. It’s worth seeing and the big idols will be ones to be talked about this summer.

Fujin Kouron Magazine

“We would like to sing a song which remains in memory”

In Japan we’re TOHOSHINKI, in Korea we’re TVXQ. While those two are actually similar, yet somehow it feels different, but while we’re doing long activities the two names get closer and closer bit by bit.

When we did the Japanese debut, we were already popular in Korea, yet we were still no one in Japan. Honestly, at first we were confused of it.

Also the system of the two companies are different. In Korea, after 1 album is released in a year, afterwards by several month promo activities are done, but in Japan, we have been busy to do the whole promo activities even from a year before.

When we hold concert in Korea and are singing ballad, audiences are singing together in a big voice, but the Japanese tend to stay still and are listening quietly.

At first when I saw them quiet, I was in shock, didn’t my song reach them? But now I understand that it’s all because the different culture and everyone is actually the same (in excitement) so it’s all right.

My dream as the time passing, is to continue singing nice songs which remain in memory of people. I think that’s the happiest thing can happen to an artist.

- Junsu

“The culture and language are different”

When I was in 3rd junior high school, I was scouted, and entered into the entertainment world. Entering entertainment industry which I didnt even know what it looked like before, yet once I passed the audience, the lessons given to be an artist were piled up.

The first time I decided to enter entertainment industry, my parents highly opposed, but I did persuade them a lot, and finally they let me go and do what I love. My participation in TOHOSHINKI is now still supported whole heartedly by them.

To work in a foreign country, as language is important, I watch many Japanese dramas and movies to learn Japanese. The word, “let’s go and see” is one I still remember until now.

Between Japan and Korea, the culture and character of the people are different. When we’re active in Japan, we don’t only change in term of music, but we also try to adapt in the life aspect. Right now we’re really busy, however if we receive a long holiday, I’d like to heal myself in a place of many green trees such as mountain and forest where there are not so many people in it.

- Changmin

“The joy is multiplied 5 times while the sorrow is divided to 1/5″

The members’ images that I see… Junsu as the mood maker, Changmin as the determined youngest, they play important role, it’s settled. Yoochun the romantic while Jaejoong is the realist, it creates a balance. I myself just realized this yesterday, therefore this question really is in good timing (laughs).

In the past, as the leader, I had to appear first and pulled everyone out. But now as everyone has grown, the necessity to do that has gone. Sometimes you may notice it’s Changmin who takes that job of mine (laughs).

Now, I’m not a leader, I’m just a part that complete the missing one as a teamwork.

We as 5 people works together is a fate. We see all of us equally. When we’re in joy, the joy is multiplied by 5, while when we’re in sorrow, the sorrow is divided to 1/5, it’s a pleasant thing.

TOHOSHINKI is my house which becomes my home. Even when I’m going to the distance, once upon a time, it will always be an important return place of me.

- Yunho

“I feel the charm of song that has many secrets”

I self learned piano as I always love the sound of piano since I was young. When work ends, I would just sit down in front of piano, and the melody is coming down naturally to my mind, it’s my way to relieve stress.

Writing lyrics and composing are things I used to do by my own will, but now when it reaches the point where everyone requests me to do that, I feel a little pressure (laughs).

When composing ballad song about love lost, it’s often that the song is written based on self-experience. But for me, instead making the whole of it based on experience, I tend to compose it a half by experience and half by fiction.

OST of movies is personally one I like to listen. Soundtrack has many secrets to awakening imagination. Especially for now I love to listen to soundtrack CD “Between Calmness and Passion” (静冷と情熱のあいだ).

- Yoochun

“I want them to know more about us”

It’s been 4 years since we began activities in Japan. I feel able to work well and make progress in my Japanese. I’m now accustomed to variety shows (laughs)

We appear (in variety shows) to enjoy each opportunity that people will get to know more about us.

In the tour that started in May, Junsu was injured by accident, but it’s being so delightful to see the increasing number of audiences. Our male fans in Japan are also more than ones we have in Korea, it really becomes encouragement to us.

TOHOSHINKI songs are also now broaden from anime songs to dance songs, and as the range is so wide, even in the concert we received audiences from children to adults. The fan base is wider compared to one in South Korea.

Eventhough now we’re accepted in Japan, honestly I still have lack of confidence. I’m still thrilled to see so many people from stage, but there are so many of them still don’t really know about us, therefore we need to work harder.

- Jaejoong
