The first episode freaked the shit out of me. Not only was there some girl that just pissed on the floor in some fucking random flashback, but that one girl is crying because her cousin is getting married? Why the hell is she freaking out about that?

Maybe these subs just suck dick, or maybe it's just me, but those two things alone confused the hell out of me. I hope this anime isn't shitty ( IE something I don't want to watch. Opinion, etc), and I have a feeling it will be.

that flashback was to show how A-chan was the only one who could/would take care of Fumi at school when they were little.
Fumi and her cousin are close (if they weren't I don't think Fumi would have taken the breast comment so calmly) and she heard about the wedding because of a celebration cake instead of from the cousin herself, so Fumi probably just felt let down by the cousin.

I think it was ... a little more than 'let down'.

from the way her cousin took her hand and looked into her eyes. and from the flashback in episode too. plus (possibly) the clingy way Fumi was treating her cousin. (mind you fumi strikes me as clingy and high maintnance) ... I think Fumi was engaging in intimate acts with her cousin. probably at the instigation of her cousin.

that's why Chizo getting married without telling her and visiting her casually as if nothing had been between them caused fumi to complain "chizo is so cruel"

what ever it may be I just love the drawings. The stories so far seem sweet with the main characters. I hope it continues to be.

That's quite the assumption(s)

Did you watch episode 2?
Some of my opinion might have been formed from what would be a spoiler if you haven't

Having a relationship with your cousin isn't exactly the easiest thing to come out about here in the U.S. and I'll wager there's a similar attitude in Japan. I wonder why Shimura-san chose this situation for one of her main characters. It could be a number of things, but from the style of the series, I doubt the reason is to pander to an audience who enjoys incest. Maybe she was trying to give some pro-shojou-ai goers a taste of how anti-gay people view homosexual relationships. Maybe it's more common in Japan than I think (is it more accepted there than homosexual love between two unrelated women?). Maybe it's all in that theme of "forbidden love." Maybe all or none. Whatever.

However weird it may be, a loss of the heart is a loss. I like how Fumi-chan doesn't whine about the rejection though. In Japan, lesbian tendencies are all part of a phase young girls may experience growing up. Although she knows her cousin would have left her sooner or later, that fact doesn't dull the pain. I think the series is telling it's audience that this "phase" isn't any less painful than the loss from breaking up in a "normal" relationships.

Anyway, I'm not disappointed in it. The author doesn't coddle viewers. Young love is awkward and painful. I can relate.

oh the crossroads. young maidens in love, it can get no better than that lol. lesbian releationship are really something and in aoihana their touching every aspect of those releations. this is an anime worth watching.
