Golden rule, Never ask a girl out that you don't know anything about.

Golden rule for girls... NEVER AGREE TO A DATE WITH A PERSON YOU DON'T TRUST SOMEWHAT, He could be planning just about anything. ( maybe a triple way? or a How quick she Drowns? or maybe the Milk Trash Can?) well you never know

oh yeah forgot Golden rule 3, never date someone from another Religion, But that one is obvious.

Golden Rule 2, Never ever agree to a date with a 5year old speaking from non personal experience.

Think golden rule number 3 is wrong? well prove it.

I wouldn't say never date someone from a different Religion, but rather don't marry someone from a different Religion. Divorce statistics can attest to that. It's something ridiculous as 3 times more likely to divorce than a violent couple. Besides, if it's a birth-control issue, in religions like Christianity that preach against the use of birth control, around 90% of sexually active individuals (from said religion) admit to using some form of it anyways.

I have to disagree with that first golden rule; the whole idea of dating is to get to know someone, to learn about them. So asking out someone you don't know anything about may, more often than not, be a redundant fact.

Why do you have rule number 3 before rule number 2?

Ohhh that's to make sure people don't take the post to seriously.

Sometimes it's because she's so embarrassed and doesn't know what to do.

I remember doing that to one guy in middle school. It was mainly because I wasn't sure if he was being serious or pulling my leg. I got so use to being picked on that even if he was serious, I would have had doubts. Especially since he was part of the football team and I was basically a nobody. It sucked having low self esteem at such an early age. It still haunts me every-now-and-then, but it has been raised a little since then.

I've personally never asked a girl out so I don't know how to answer this. The only answer I could say is that maybe she thought it was a joke, that happens a lot depending on the person they are. If she's hot and get asked out a lot if the person asking her out is a nobody she might think it's a joke. Or the other way around and if ur a guy asking a nobody girl out then they might think ur joking because it's totally unexpected.

It solely depends on their response after the laugh if it's an "Oh my God," or "Are you serious." You know the old saying though "Actions speak louder then words."

ummmm they think you're not serious or not the type of guy that will ask people out?
hmm if u said that in a way she thinks you're not serious...they might take it as a joke.
tip: if they laughed, just stare into their eyes seriously [and dont laugh or smile] and they will know it's true.

I hope the OP is still reading, after all these comments, since he's the one I most want to read this.
I've been married 25 years. My wife not only laughed the first time I asked her out, she also laughed the first time I asked her to marry me. Knowing her as I do now, I realize she was nervous, and she's the type who laughs when nervous.
Without knowing you or the girl you asked out, there is no way of knowing whether she was being mean, or nervous, or embarrassed, or thought you were joking. Just never forget, girls are also bundles of emotion and anxiety, just like we are. They just express it a little differently than guys do.

Like a lot of other people have pointed out, it could mean a lot of different things for different women. It could be condescending, anxious, good-humored, and so on and so forth.

Some guys might have low self-esteem so when the girl doesn't say "yes" immediately, he'll suspect something is wrong even when it isn't. It could just be that the girl is so happy she's at a temporary loss of words, and her laugh is more like a pleased giggle. But then the guy instantly assumes it's malicious so he starts looking dejected and disappointed. Which then makes the girl think that the guy was either joking or regretting his decision to ask her out.

Basically, it can be a complicated cascade of emotions and body language.

She's either rejecting you, nervous, or extremely happy.

OP: Depends on a lot of factors

* Look at her face and learn to read social ques. Does the laughter/smile reach her eyes? Does the corners of her eyes crinkle up? Does she smirk (not a good tell, some people thiink they are smiling when they are smirking; like me)?

* You can also tell by the tone of her laughter, mocking laughter is harsher than normal and often forced, nervous laughter is more akin to regular giggling.

If she is smiling without it reaching her eyes, or any of the signs above, she's being mean.
