Only thing that differenciates anime from average cartoons is really the difference in art nowadays.

well, even though your are technically correct in one sense, you are also wrong in another sense. 'Only to the newer fans.. the rest of us still call it Japanimation or J-anime, and the Japanese still call all cartoon anime. So only people who think anime is Japanese cartoons is the people who been into anime less than 10 years or so. So its more just a miss understanding, than the word changing over time. I blame us older fans for not pointing out the mistake earler.

lol. hmm...yea it may have started as a mistake, but i still like it =D. (it makes more sense to me, cause im part of that younger generation ^^) but thats how language evolves u know. like how a mistyping of the word "owned" created the new word "pwned" lol ("o" and "p" are right next to each other on a qwerty keyboard). i thought that was funny when i learned how that word came to be. =D

Believe it or not I was the Person who created the word Narutard... That is my word that became bigger.

I can even tell you how, why, and where I came up with that Title for some people.

Pwned I never used that word.. And I am a big MMORPG FAN been playing them for about 12 years.

oh wow really? i want to hear the story of how u came up with "narutard" lol. =D it sounds like itll be interesting. btw did u ever watch naruto?

Yeah I did watch Naruto back wen the first 10 or so episodes came out in Japan. Well back wen Naruto was just getting to be the next big fad in America for the New kids who just found out about J-anime. This was the time wen Vs threads was a big thing in Gaia.. (after Vs threads was banned in Gaia I left Gaia.. For I was only there for the Vs debates and the ED. I jump into a thread something like Sasuke (naruto) vs Hulk And I look at the post, most look like this:

Sasuke wins... he is mine!!
Sassuke .... because I do not know the other guy.
Sasuke Sasuke Sasuke He Hot!

And shit like this.

As you should know Vs threads are about pointing out how a person wins, using canon facts, evidence and showing some understanding of what your talking about. But we had threads of vs threads filled with mindless 9 to 13 old retards.

So I my self made a one sided vs thread using Naruto, in this vs thread I gathered all the facts on both characters that was out at the time.

Godzilla vs Naruto. (because everyone should know godzilla.)
I put down about godzilla G-cell that lets him heal at a rapid pace, I put down the fact missiles that could pierce through 60 feet of rock did not even leave a scratch on Godzilla. Also pointed out all there attacks and powers on both sides. what do you think the polls look like?

5000+ for Naruto 1700+ for Godzilla. even with the stats placed up there for them to see.

Trust me after a wile Of listening to Naruto fans on ever thread, even if the thread was not about Naruto.. I blurted out Damn Narutards. After that other people started using that word on Gaia than it moved to other forums in other places. Soon Narutard was a big hit with people tired of the retarded Naruto fan base.

Soon after the vs threads was banned in Gaia, me and a few of the Smarter people in Gaia try to get them back, at least in there own little forum. We even shown how good vs threads can be. But the mods two got tired of the Narutards, so Instead of stoping them from spamming in vs threads they banned the vs thread. After a little time fighting to get vs threads back, I like a few others that love to debate left Gaia. But my word Narutard still lives on.

Seriously??? Only the art? You mean there are American studios putting out cartoons with complex human emotions and interactions? Produce shows aimed at kids who's protagonist's same-sex relationship is shown in a positive and uplifting light. Can convey life lessons without the smug, puritanical tripe of ost . Tell me which one's they are, I'd like to see them.

it is way more that just the art that differentiates cartoons from anime

I am herby banning the word anime. It shall now be known as cartoons. Oddly enough this is what all of you should have been calling it for a long time.

If you are heard mentioning anime to anyone and not calling it cartoons, thou shalt be made fun of.

There now that I have gotten rid of "anime" this thread's name shall change to cartoons the facts and nothing but the facts

I would like to know where you got the info from that cartoon can also stand for comics? It isn't a statement that I agree with because there are plenty of comics that do not get a cartoon about them just as there are alot of catoons that have nothing to do with comics.

Just like alot of mangas aren't made into animes and animes aren't always from mangas.

Then just to make things clear, comic books and mangas have almost no difference. The only real difference is they are different words to describe where each thing originated. Comic books are usually made in America and Mangas are usually from Japan. I say usually because I do not know for certain that 100% of comic books are made in America. Who knows, probably the comic books I used to read have that "made in china" brand on it.

The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very different forms of visual art and illustration. The term has evolved over time.

The original meaning was in fine art, and there cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a piece of art such as a painting or tapestry.

The somewhat more modern meaning was that of humorous illustrations in magazines and newspapers. Even more recently there are now several contemporary meanings, including creative visual work for print media, for electronic media, and even animated films and animated digital media.

When the word cartoon is applied to print media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon, most of which have captions and do not use speech balloons. The word cartoon is sometimes used to refer to a comic strip.

The artists who draw cartoons are known as cartoonists.

Still don't believe me?

Just to point out one huge gaping factor in your "facts." You got them from the internet.

Besides that, it's true the word cartoon can refer to comics in some situations but not all. I guess we were arguing the same thing but different points of view. I was saying that cartoons don't refer to comics all the time and you were saying that in some situations cartoons do refer to comics.

That being said now, let us ban the word manga and use comic book or visual novel in its stead.

Oh well, it's normal to us humans to change things without really knowing
You may be right, but people are already adapted to call Anime to Jananimation.
The same goes with O.K., which originally means 0 (Zero) Kill or All Correct (Oll Korrect)--- lol
