One writes fan-fiction..well writes basically in order for them to expand their mind. So that they can put all of their imaginative and creative side all in paper.

To get closure after having your favorite character die off, or have your favorite anime/manga/movie not end how you wanted it to.

To make the story that we saw or read the way we wanted it to go. Or we us the characters to play out our the way our lives are, or the way that we want them to go.

Or it could be because we watched another show or something inspired us to blend the two plots.

People write fan fiction for lots of reasons... most of them already mentioned... but, I also agree that it's a cop-out. People find it easier to write a story when they have a base of established characters to work with... which I think is lame. It's like making the character's into some sort of cliche... just like filler arcs in animes (Bleach's bount arc comes to mind... ). Now... if someone were to--i don't know--change up the formula and do something differently... then I might want to read it. (On that note... you know what I'd like to see in bleach? No more one-on-one pissing contest fights! Matchups are oldschool! Lets see some war!)

Well, I know I write it because sometimes coming up with you're own ideas for stories is tiring. Writing fanfiction is a nice break. Everyone knows the characters, you know the characters. However sometimes that can make it hard and a challenge. I guess I just write it for a little twist and for other people to enjoy.

It comes from extreme lack of boredom, and random thoughts like 'I wonder what Naruto would do in a ballet theatre...' 'Imagine if Gaara's mother lived and cared for him' 'What if I was in the story' and other such stuff.

My characters kind of have a mind of their own, for example my oc Kaori, who is most likely to make the most stupid decisions... to save someone else's life.

Cuzz you suck at drawing and you have no other means to share your idea in a small way, even though you rather be able to draw everything

I myself love writing fan fiction because I can express myself through words and stories. I have never been able to do that in real life, for I am a homeschooler. I don't have many friends that way. One reason I like writing fan-fiction is that I can control everyone like little puppets. It's fun. :3
