Why does one write fanfiction?
|
I write fanfiction to express my feelings and to release my imagination. Writing makes me happy and it makes me feel good about myself.

In a way, writing is a way to let your imaginations run free, to, in a sense, become "God". When you write, you have infinite power. You're able to dream up your fantasy and escape mundane ways, no ? People write fanfiction and ask "What if this happened ?" and they write their own outcome, their own ending because they want to change something within someone else's work and have control. In this instance, control is not a bad thing because this is writing, and with writing, nothing can hold you back. It is an escape.

because it lets the writer tell a story of what they think should've happened in the anime or whatever it is you write a fanfic about. you can make it into whatever you want it to be with the familiarity already established with the characters.
and its fun. |

adats01 wrote: ever asked yourself this question...???...i asked myself this, but i couldn't answer. Many times. In my case to write stories/texts that people before havent. Usually about anime, manga or games. Have much freedom to do so compared to other genres. Also, writing down my viewpoints, thoughts and interests in order for others to see. Not meaning other people will like what and how i make my texts. Well......i do have some readers on asianfics...... |

To entertain myself mostly. It' funny putting characters that I love or hate in weird and hilarious situations!
Then I posted on of my stories randomly and it turned out other people liked it too. Who knew?! So then I just kept on writing. I haven't written anything for awhile, but hopefully I'll have some times soon to write again. |

I've never been one to write it, but I've always seen it as just a way for people to share their ships, or "campaigns" if you will.

If I ask me, it's mostly because I have an (over)active imagination. A lot of times my imagination gets so strong, it hurts my brain if I don't write them down. And also, if I refuse to, I will keep thinking about it, and this actually takes my focus away from stuff I need to do.
It's like...it clogs my system and won't go away unless I write them down. So you see, it's more like I'm serving my imagination...if not it hurts me. |

For me, it's a couple of things. When it comes to writing itself, it's a form of creative expression. A way to get my ideas out there, and sometimes work out issues I might be having by using the story I create. (Ah, symbolism!)
With fanfiction I find it relaxing as well as cathartic. I don't have to spend forever creating a character, I can take someone I already know well and work with them. The fun-hard part is keeping them in character no matter what the situation. Actually, I think fanfictions help me with my original works, since I've gotten much better about keeping characters in character. Obviously, I like sharing my stories, too. I love it when my story triggers another persons story or an event in theirs, or I make a friend through my writing! |

I write Fan fiction (or rather stories i dont write about anime and such) to make things that people enjoy. The feeling of joy i get from seeing someone laugh or react at all to what i write is why i write.

To share their imaginations over such characters or animes.
They write to express their views in such c: To tell stories that would never happen in actual anime or character.. |

Original concepts/stories are built on the what ifs of stories/shows we think should have gone or could have been so radically different.
I.E. I could have seen Death Note go two other ways. 1st that Light was in fact under the notebooks effects, thus Kira was in fact a separate entity out to kill L. Or 2nd, that Light would end up creating a shinigami from using the notebook for so long or that all those that wrote names willingly, with their memories or not, become shinigami after their deaths. I find that fan-fiction helps perfect my own writing, or a concept/story is fully finished for my own story. It also makes my own universe with characters I'd like to see. I.E. I'm currently working on a Justice League/DC universe of my own. Taking a spin on the origins and plots from the DC universes I enjoyed. Still working on a name for my DC universe story. |

I actually don't normally write fan fiction. But when i do write it, it's because it's "runoff" of my creative mind. And for the most part my fan fiction tends to teeter on original, because i don't use canons in any of my writing. Though their names may appear later on in the story, but they never really effect the story. So i guess i write more Alternate World stuff. Still, like i said "Runoff" is the reason for myself writing fan fiction.
