Since I don't think anyones said it Rin from Shuffle had things bad. Not the worst, just about everyone in Elfen Lied probably takes that. Still after you have your parents horribly killed in a car accident, guess who gets to live with a psyco who spends her every waking moment trying to either torture, or straight up murder him. Not the worst and things do get better but still...
