Hold onnnnnn a moment ....
Have you ever noticed that OPM music needs a lot of improvement? A lot of songs are unmemorable, the production quality is low, all of the artists sound depressed and tired (or they're yelling too loud to that it doesn't even sound like music), it lacks elements of modern music in all countries, and many music videos look like they were filmed in with night vision goggles. Have you ever wondered why even the Indie scene is better? Bands haven't changed ever since the 1980's. The Philippines needs to listen to more foreign music, so it can improve and know why its music isn't selling abroad. I try my best to listen to modern OPM and love Filipino music (and there are some that I do), but I still have yet to find something good. I'll support it and I want you all to support it and love it. However I want you to support it for it's improvement, and development. Filipinos can out dance and out sing any other Asian country, so I hope someday these talents can be encouraged and packaged well into decent groups.

One thing I won't support, however, is people being racist and trashing the music of other countries. They work hard at what they do, and if people like it. So be it. It's good and popular for a reason. You guys should listen to it. You might even learn to like it. I used to think it was cheesy (some of it still is), but I learned to like it too. Even Japan with a top notch music industry that produces high quality world class music acknowledges Korean music. Japanese fans all know about K-Pop (and Koreans all know about J-Pop as well). It's all over their music charts too. Isn't that amazing? The countries used to be enemies, and now they like each others music. I think we, as Pinoys, as fellow Asians can do the same by listening to the music of our neighbors. Don't live in your own world, and eventually they will return the favor.

K-pop and J-Pop won't kill OPM. In a matter of fact, it will do the opposite, it'll wake it up. It'll make people work harder to produce good music that can match up to (if not beat) what's current. Right now K-Pop is creating a burning desire in us to improve. So let's seize this chance, eh?

And why are some of you complaining about K-Pop? Have you noticed that American Pop has made an even GREATER impact on the Philippines? It has completely taken over the Myx charts. They're filled with American pop! (The U.S. is great, don't get me wrong) But why haven't I seen this reaction about American pop !? The United States even colonized the Philippines! Korea's not even going to colonize the Philippines; it will only inspire the Philippines. So quit being whiny and racist and accept other people's music. Korean and Japanese pop is good, and that's the Asian trend. I hope it gets really popular in the Philippines. Have you noticed that the Philippines is in Asia????? Be a fellow Asian, and support your neighbors.

Thanks! I want all of us Pinoys to live for the day when Koreans will be having the same conversation we're having, when all of the Asians will listen to how great OPM has gotten. Please work hard for OPM and hope that it will become something great.

I was not really talking about OPM, just Kpop rapidly invading the charts even though Jpop came before (due to the anime's) but Kpop rules the charts more. I dont understand them much either but they have very nice music, sad to say in far comparison to Pinoy-Music...

I also agree with what _epikllian_ has said about OPM needing improvement. I think OPM is more on the "bands" not "boy-bands" but bands! I dont know why boy bands or girl bands are not so successful here...maybe everyone gets annoyed at them or think its corny (is it just me? lol jk) anyway,

Big Bang just had another song titled GARA GARA GO, u think its korean? think again! its entirely in english rap and NIHONGGO! i was so shocked! But they sure sounded good, Im loving it now on my ipod. My point? So now is Kpop the one pushing fans or viewers to Jpop? Im not ranting or anything Im a fan may it Kpop/Jpop/OPM

I apologize if I hurt or offend some fans...

In my opinion, It is okay as long as the fandom in philippines will not be cheap as they place hyunjoong oppa's face in a text card becuase he's in BOF and also lee minho and others...
i mean, it's great that they're famous in other countries but sometimes it's too much.
you know what i mean.. or you don't get it
hahah XD

But then again, culturally, the Philippines is more Western. Our names say it all...David, Angela...and this are given names, not chosen English names as compared to East Asian countries. That's why it is easy for most Filipinos to related to US/Western songs. For decades, US has been staple in the Philippines, like it's our own. We even write songs in English.

But when it comes to music, does it really have to be West vs East? it's nothing but arrogance. Music is music, no matter where it comes from. If something good and someone extremely talented comes out of the US, I will support it.

About Asians supporting Asians; why not call out for our fellow Asians to support Arnel Pineda, apl de ap and Charice as well than just being one way. It's ironic that these Filipino/Asians singers are more appreciated by Westerners than their 'fellow' Asians...to think of it these are amongst the first Asians who are able to get the attention of the US' respectable musicians. Something BoA or Rain or even the WG failed to do. These three are enjoying relative popularity among non-Asians yet so unpopular to Asians.

And these three are REAL talents. They do not lip sync and they sound way better LIVE as compared to many Asian 'manufactured' boy/girl bands.

^It's called constructive criticism. I'd rather see REAL Korean talents marketed to the US than those 'models for good' who can't even sing live and rely on lip syncing. They don't represent the REAL Asian talents.
