(Firsties!)

Esil and Luuga stood atop a grand dune. Before them was the crumbled ruins of Gil'gaia and it's people, the Gaians. No longer the vast empire it once was, the ruins served no purpose now. Very few roamed it's halls or stared upon it's cryptic runes. Only foolish grave robbers came to desecrate the once proud race, but rarely did they escape the eye of Luuga and the traps within. And, for a time, it served as the holding pen for Esil the Deathbringer. But now it was just as it was for millennia: a ruined city of little future.

"It's a shame." Esil said. "Years of entrapment and I let Darkness go to a young man in his prime. I'll have to return the favor someday."
"What will you do now?" Luuga asked. "Will you go back to your nomadic ways, searching the world for the one to end you?"
"No, I think not. Death has frowned upon me at every passing battle. I've traveled the world for thousands of years only to be met with a path of corpses and weaklings. I think it wants me to try a different route.
"It?" she asked.
"Rhak'sha, the death god."
"I've never heard of that god." Luuga said.
"None of the Gaians would know this god. He has only shown himself to me. In my sleep I see him. I see his face and his robes. And I hear his mocking from under his mask. He has told me his name and his duty and nothing else. I slept last night and he came to me again. But, instead of mocking me, he ordered me."
"What did he say" she asked.
"He told me: You will go to the ruins of your womb and you will stitch the cuts with your own hands. Then you shall be reborn a king, as your father, and the masses will come to see you. Some will hate and some will love. Then you will construct a battle where man will fight fellow man for pride and honor. The man that shall best ten thousand men shall be the one to end your life. You must tell your people to pay homage to me and to give me praise, or your wish shall not come true. Do this! Rhak'sha commands you!"

"What does it mean?"
"It means I must rebuild the ruins of Gil'gaia, and become the new king. I will construct a great arena and the people will come to see the bloodshed. People will set up shop and trade. And I shall create law and taxes so the city will flourish. I will build temples and shrines and teach preachers the word of Rhak'sha and have them teach others and have them praise him. And then I shall have a tournament every full moon until the one who kills me appears. I will be a king! And, you my servant, shall be my queen.
"What!? Why me my lord? They're are more fairer woman that will please you more than I. They will appear as goddesses before you! I shall only appear as a lowly rag.
"I do not need pleasing! You're the only one I can trust. And a rag is quite useful in this heat."

Luuga smiled. Esil began descending the dune and Luuga followed behind. The ruins were before them, as always, and they would find a prosperous Kingdom that will unite and tear asunder. And Esil would be the King. A eternal king of Gil'gaia.

"Today we begin a new ERA." Kyle said looking down at the millions of people who stared up at him. "An Era of Trust and Unity. A time of new beginnings and hope." He stopped and looked at all the people and then said, "Today our Faith in humanity is reborn ." He held his fist to his heart and thunderous applause filled the grounds as he finished giving the speech and followed him long after he descended from the stage and made his way to the back where his team waited.
"Very good Mr. President." Carl Jenkins said appreciatively as he followed Kyle to where the carriages waited.
"Kyle." Kyle muttered as he climbed into the carriage and settled his head back against the seat, "Mr. President sounds too formal."
"Sure thing Mr President." Carl quipped and the carriage filled with laughter. Kyle grinned and stared out at the passing scenery. Time had passed and the wounds were healing but they still had a long way to go. Much too long.

He made his way down the long grounds and stopped to look around his new home. It was beautiful and serene with vast gardens surrounding the mansion. He took in a long breath and smiled as the scent of the flowers filled him. Suddenly the door flew open.
"Daddy." the girl yelled racing with the boy fast behind her.
"Hey you two." Kyle said and in one sweep picked them both up, the kids giggling and squirming in his arms. He kissed them each and then settled them on his shoulders. He looked up and let out a contented sigh when he saw Jess in the distance looking beautiful and delicate as she waited for him to enter the house.
"Hi." He said softly and kissed her lips after setting the kids down.
She wrapped her arms around him and said, "You're an Uncle."
"What?" Kyle breathed.
"Nina just had a baby boy." Jess said, her eyes sparkling and Kyle laughed with joy and hugged her.

Much later as he stood with little Tyler in his arms he was filled with awe and wonder.
"He has your eyes." He said to Rick who grinned, his gray eyes crinkling in joy.
He looked over at Nina who lay sleeping in her bed and he was filled with love for her and for her family.
"I promise you." He whispered to his nephew who looked contentedly up at him , "I will do my best to make this place all that it can be."
Rick smiled as Kyle handed over his son to him, "We've got a long way to go." Rick said softly, "But we'll get there."
Kyle nodded, "We'll get there." He repeated with a smile.

Altec inhaled the air around him slowly. He was lying on the ground near a lake. He exhaled and looked up into the sky as clouds passed over him. "Become one with the wind and hear the voice of the wind, huh," he whispered as he remembered Noel's words. "I've still got a lot of work to do," he said with a sigh as he slowly got up onto his feet. He stretched a bit and turned around to face the village right next to the lake. He placed his hands into his pocket and started walking. He walked into the village and looked around. "Where cold he be?" he asked himself as he looked at each person he passed by with a quick glance.

After a few minutes of walking he stopped near the cemetery and saw a man standing with a solemn look. "I should have known," he said to himself as he turned and started to walk into the cemetery. "Yo," he said to the man standing in the cemetery.
Ken snapped out of his trance and looked up as he heard someone called at him. He turned around to find Altec standing there. "Hey," he replied. Altec looked at the gravestones and then back up at Ken," I'll wait for you out there," he said as he pointed behind him. Ken nodded as Altec turned around and walked away.
He turned back to face the gravestones. "Looks like I have to go," he spoke softly. "I'll be back," he whispered as he took one more look at the gravestones. He turned around and started walking away. He was standing in front of three gravestones. One had been recently added to the cemetery. Two of them were of his parents. The last one read, "Lexa."

"Man, I need to stretch,"
"How can you stretch when you don't even have control of the body right now,"
"So, how about you letting me take over the body then,"
"Sorry, your request has been denied,"
"What? Why, I haven't been able to do anything for years now,"
"You'll get your chance, when the time comes,"
"That almost seems like never,"
"It's a possibility,"
"Hey, that's not right,"

Ken chuckled a bit as he walked down the roads of the village. People were greeting him every now and then. He looked forward to see Altec leaning on the side of the gates of the village, looking right at him. "Sorry I'm late," Ken said as he reached Altec. "No problem," he replied as he stopped leaning on the gate. "You ready?" he asked. Ken nodded and took one look back at the village. "I'll come back," he thought as he turned back around. Both of them started walking away from the village on the start of their new journey.
--------------------------------
A boy and a girl laughed as they ran through a tall field of grass. "Guys be careful," said the mom of the twins. "Yes mommy," they replied as they continued running through the field playing tag. "They'll be fine," replied the dad as he took a seat next to his wife. "I just get worried easily," she replied as she looked at him. "You always worried easily," he said as he looked at her also. "Raya." "Yes, and you worried me when you left all those years ago, Renji," she said replying as turned to look at the kids. "Don't worry, I won't leave you again," he said as he also looked at the kids.

"Rain, you're it," said the boy as he tagged her. He instantly started running away. "Hey come back Roy," she yelled as she tried to catch up to him. "You're too slow," he said as he continued to run. After about a minute of running, Roy stopped and turned around. "Rain, where did you go?" he asked as he looked around. Suddenly a hand from behind touched him on the shoulder. "You're it again," said a voice. Roy turned around to find that it was Rain. "What how did you do that?" he asked out of confusion. She laughed and started running. "It's a secret," she said as she stuck her tongue out at him. "Hey come back here," Roy said as he started to chase after her again.

Raya chuckled as she watched them. "Well, they sure are having fun," she said as she leaned onto Renji's shoulder. "It sure looks like it," he said as he looked at Raya. They looked at each other in the eyes for a moment. Soon Renji leaned his head forward, towards her head and there lips touched gently together.

Lyn stood before a graveyard. The ferret on her shoulder started making little chirping noises. "I'm back," she said to the gravestones. The graveyard was had gravestones everywhere, all of them were from Lyn's clan. The ground was dry and filled with dead grass. cracks on the ground were also visible. Lyn looked at the ground and knelt down to the ground. "You guys deserve better," she said as she gently placed her two hands onto the ground. Soon the ground began to revitalize. The old dead grass began to turn green and lively once again and new grass began to fill up the ground all around the graveyard. "One more thing," she said as she closed her eyes. Flowers, of many colors, began to grow out of the grass around each gravestone. She stood back up and smiled as the new graveyard was revived. She fixed her hair and looked up into the sky. She remembered Sango, Shiki, and Athena, and all the others that fought with her against Darkness. She closed her eyes. "Thank you," she said as she opened back up her eyes. She looked at the graveyard once more.

Sango stood before a huge memorial in the graveyard in Haizo dedicated to the fallen members of the Shinzo Clan. Shortly after Darkness’s defeat, Sango burned Haizo to the ground and rebuilt it in order to start his new life, free of hatred and sorrow. Sango read every name engraved on the memorial several times, the last name he always read the name of his older brother, Sameru Shinzo. Sango looked at the top of the memorial and saw the symbol of his clan, which made Sango smile. Sango then unsheathed his Sensei’s sword and stuck it in the ground in front of the memorial, the sword seemed to make the entire memorial shine. Sango chuckled, “Even in death, you are all as proud as you were in life” said Sango as he turned and walked away from the memorial and his Sensei’s sword. Sango looked around the graveyard as he walked towards the exit, he remembered what it looked like before he burned Haizo to the ground, the ground was dead and corpses were sticking out of the ground, but now the ground was covered in grass and there are gravestones for every member of his clan in the graveyard. Sango left the graveyard and inhaled and exhaled, he looked around, before, Haizo was full of ruined building and smelt of death, but now every building was rebuild and the smell of death was replaced with the smell of life. Sango walked through the streets of Haizo and remembered old memories of his life before Darkness destroyed it, Sango stood in the middle of the square where he witnessed Darkness slaughtering everyone, “I still can’t believe its over” said Sango as he touched his shoulder, the black scar that was on his shoulder had disappeared when Darkness was devoured by the Liberator. Sango looked to the sky, “Thank you…everyone” said Sango as he walked towards the main house. When he reached the main house, he was instantly greeted my a little girl who ran up to him and hugged him, “Welcome home, Daddy” said the girl. Sango smiled and pick up the girl, “Its good to be home, Mia” said Sango has he looked up and saw Silver walking towards him. Silver kissed Sango and hugged both Sango and Mia. Sango looked around, “Where’s Jyaden?” asked Sango, then a cat appeared on the window sill, “I’m right here” said Jyaden, who decided to take this cat form. Mia looked at Jyaden and began to laugh, she loved cats and Jyaden knew that. Sango and Silver laughed and they all walked towards the main house together, Mia looked at Sango, “Hey Daddy, when can we visit Aunt Nina? I want to see her new baby” said Mia with a childish giggle. Silver looked at Sango and smiled, “I think its due time we visited them again, besides, we owe Nina and Kyle for helping us rebuild Haizo” said Silver. Sango looked at Silver and Mia, Mia was holding Jyaden in his cat form like any little girl would a cat almost her size, the look on Jyaden’s face made it look like he didn’t want to be held, but he didn’t mind it. Sango and Silver chuckled at Jyaden’s face, then Sango looked at Mia. “We can see them soon” said Sango with a gentle smile, the one he inherited from his Sensei.

Havoc walked in and the bar smelled like piss and blood, a smell he hated at first but it's grown to much on him. Seeing another drunked butthead in his seat, Havoc walked over and took him by the collar. He looked at the drunk only to see that he was passeed out. He gentely tossed him to the side and took his rightful place.

"What'll ya have?" the plump bartender asked.
"Tok...I come in here every night of every week and I order the exact same thing. You'd think by now you'd get the message!?"
"FIne, fine! Here ya go. An Azuriyan blue malt. Get ya drunk in five seconds, guarenteed!"

Havoc swiped the drink and gulped it down quick. It tasted like crap, but it didn't matter to Havoc. Behind, he could hear the sounds of the boxers swinging away. A left, a right, a dead boxer, and the next guys ready to go.

"Hey Tok? How long you been runnin' this place?"
"Longer than I've needed to!" The bartender poked.
"Well...I just got this huge payoff from this job, right?
"Yeah so?"
"How much?"
How much for what?"
"The bar you shithead!"
"What this shithole!?" A sly grin plastered on his face. "100,00 rupees!"
"Done!" Havoc yelled as he pulled a large bag from under him.
"Holy shit! I didn't think you were serious."
"Looks like i own this place now! So, seein as you don't." He whisteled for the bodyguards. "get this trash out've here!"

Havoc heared the crash and smiled. He flipped over the bar and took his place behind the counter.

"Drinks're on me!"

(So basically Havoc has been running a bar for the past 20 years. Still taking a odd job every now and then! XD)

Rina was sitting on a cliff with her hands on her knees and her legs dangling off the cliff.
Three months had passed since she came to this place to live with her sister after the major incident of her life had happened Rina had completely changed no one would say she is the Rina we knew before. She was always very gloomy and quiet, didn't eat much , didn't talk much.It had all changed in one day. Rina gave up on living after Max had died. She looked up at the sky as she remembered what her sister had said the other day, "From what you tell me, Max sounds like a guy that would want you to live." Her sister had said as she and Rina sat on the beach, Rina had started crying as she remembered Max and her sister had been there hugging her and telling her that everyone was here for her. Rina raised her face to the sky and closed her eyes, "She's right. You wouldn't like to see me like this right, Max Kun?" Rina whispered as she opened back her eyes. "For you, I will live again Max kun." Rina said as she opened back her eyes and then stood up. She blew a kiss towards heaven and then walked back home.

(Darkness met his doom. And our dhampir, Reza, in his feat to shut the Black Gate, used all his remaining strength for that purpose. It caused him to lose his consciousness, and surprise! Someone most unexpected suddenly saved him from being destroyed along with Underdark, that is none other than Ani Shek herself, the elegant, wicked General. This story happened right after Darkness’s death, and before the appearance of the Mytlans or the States Federation.

Oh, right. I must warn you. Anyone who’s 13 and below is advised to not read any of my posts, and yeah, even those who’s 13 and above but cannot take too much skin exposure and sensitive contains are reminded to read on your own risk. Now, don’t ever say I never warn you guys...)

The rustling of the curtain alerted his brain, and that woke him up from his slumber. First, it was his senses that were awaken. Savouring the feel of the gentle dusk breeze brushing on his exposed skin, stroking his hair, he slowly opened his eyes. He stared at the ceiling, trying hard to remember. Then, he realized something. It was not the breeze that was gently stroking his hair, but a female’s hand. He was overcame by a mixture of feeling, mostly that of shock and panic and he had sat up spontaneously. And when he looked at the female’s face, for an instant he had forgotten to breathe. “Did you sleep well?” asked the lady, her flaming red hair flowing softly to her back, smiling at him. “What....?” whispered Reza. “I’ve been missing you terribly, dear love,” answered the red-head beauty, leaning closer to him. Stunned, he forgot how to move his muscles as well. “What’s the matter, Reza? It’s me,” she said, touching his cheek lightly and then wrapping her arms around his neck. “Alexan....,” The remaining of the name was left unsaid as she kissed him, inserting her tongue inside his mouth (woot woot!XD) and sucking in his breath. That was the last straw. All reasoning lost, he embraced her tightly and kissed her with such fierceness and passion both of them lost their balance and fell back to the bed. (I think I heard Sara-chan screaming “NOOOOOO!” XXD)

Reza suddenly stopped and slowly, he was pulling back. Then, he stared at the woman who was in his arms just a while ago coldly. “Who are you?” asked Reza quietly. The red-head licked her lips and swallowed. “What are you saying? It’s me, Alex-” She sat there petrified when his eyes shone crimson and a stabbing pain pierced her chest. “Who-are-you?” repeated Reza. He raised an eyebrow when she laughed, a little nervously at first; then the nervousness was gone as the laugh grew louder. “You’re a great kisser, my dear prince. I let down my guard and forgot your ability to create illusions within other’s mind because of that. Well, now that you’ve found out...,” she chuckled. Reza looked on, unmoved as her red hair turned green, and her blue eyes turned violet. “How do you like my little magic?” asked Ani, smiling wickedly. Reza’s eyes hardened. Ani laughed again. “Oh, come on! Don’t you like the surprise? You got a kiss right after you woke up! From the way you were kissing me, you seemed to be enjoying it yourself. Looks like you’ve gotten your strength back. You passed out for a whole three days, you know?” she said. “You sure talk a lot.” Answered Reza. He then climbed off the bed, grabbed his black mantel and walked towards where the door was. Ani frowned. “Where are you going?” she demanded. “Outta here.” answered Reza indifferently, not looking back.

"Ah." Ani said and got up, her long dress trailing on the floor as she headed to her dresser. "This is how you repay the savior of your life?" She said and she picked up a scented lotion and started rubbing it on her hands. The dim light of her candles didn't hide the visible shock he experienced as he whirled around.
"Yes, Reza Darling." She said in a silky voice, turning around and leaning against the dresser. Her violet eyes shimmered in the dark hauntingly and the candle light shone on her skin, illuminating its perfect beauty, "You are in my debt."

Now that he had thought it over, the last thing he remembered was his success in closing The Black Gate. He could not remember anything else starting from that point. “I must have fainted because I drained my energy.” He thought. “Dammit,” Reza muttered under his breath. “So it was you who saved me.” He said, eyeing her. She was really a beauty. Ani smiled, and her bangs fell to her face, covering her left eye. She pushed it to the back of her ear. “That’s right. Don’t you think you should repay my kindness? After all, I did tell you about Lyonell’s weakness, didn’t I? And saving you afterwards, my, my....You sure have to pay a lot to me,” she chuckled. Reza watched her calmly. “Very well. Thank you very much for your help. I hope you wouldn’t mind my hostility earlier. So tell me, fair lady, how can I repay you?” Reza asked politely, his manners completely transformed to that of a true gentleman’s. “You’re truly a royalty, aren’t you? Hmm, I haven’t given it any thought yet. But, for the meantime, please stay with me. I would certainly enjoy the company of a prince,” said Ani, her eyes shining. Reza caught it, and knew she had a plan, one that he would not like. But that fact alone somehow excited him. “I’m not a prince, I’m just a refugee. Would you still like my company?” he asked, smiling. Ani walked towards him in an attractive manner. “Of course. Coincidentally, you fall into the category of a someone that I would love to spend some time with.” she purred into his ear as her hands took hold of the front of his shirt, caressing the material before finally letting go and walking towards the door. “You should refresh yourself with a bath. I’ll send you clean clothes, and then, maybe a dinner?” Ani looked at him from the corner of her twinkling eyes, lightly touching her rosy lips, then she disappeared through the door. “Heh...,” said Reza.

(Like ai chan said up there People under thirteen or susceptible to nosebleed don't read further. )

Ani sat across from him as they ate. He was on guard and his unease, despite trying to hiding it well, was endearing to her.
"I wont poison you." She said with a smile as she sipped her wine, "You are much too important."
"That's the least of my worries." Reza said lazily, his dark eyes glittering in the dark. They ate dinner quietly and then the servants brought them desert.
'Perhaps you would like a nightcap?" She asked with a little smile.
Reza looked at her. She was a beautiful woman and her meaning was vividly clear but he wasn't interested. Alexandria was still strongly on his mind.
"I will repay you with anything you want." Reza said in a low voice, "But I wont give you that."
Ani leaned back in her chair "The thoughts of a lover lost torments him." She mocked in a musical voice and Reza's face hardened.
"Donot look like that." Ani said with a little laugh, "You do realize, that you are still under my debt?"
"Ofcourse." Reza said and waited for her to make her demand.
"Go and rest now." She said and got up already losing interest in the conversation as she made her way to her own room. "We'll talk tomorrow."
A servant stood waiting to escort him and Reza watched Ani disappear around the corner then followed the servant to his room, wondering what it was that Ani had in mind.
****
Much later that night, Ani, dressed a in a long silk nightie, walked down to Reza's room. She stopped at the doorway and looked at him on the bed. He was asleep, half sitting on the bed. His shirt gaped at the neck revealing his broad chest. She let her eyes trial down his lean body, lingering on his long legs and then down to his feet., his shoes were still on.
She looked back at his face. His head rested against the bedpost. His hair fell softly on his eyes and Ani felt a stirring deep within her.
She wondered what he had been thinking when he fell asleep. She went closer, noiselessly, and kissed his cheek softly. He didn't stir. She started trailing kisses along his jawline towards his mouth and then pressed her soft lips against his.
His eyes slowly opened and Ani's eyes widened as he gripped her tightly in his arms and rolled over trapping her beneath him.
He kissed her hard, his breath hot on her skin. She responded with full passion. He started kissing her neck, his breath warm on her neck. He kissed her collar bone and she gently nipped his ear. Suddenly he stilled in her arms.
"I can't do this." He muttered thickly and drew away.
She had been expecting that, she had planned it infact but she still felt genuinely insulted and sat up.
"I saved your life and you so ungraciously refuse me." She spat out.

Reza buttoned his shirt, his mind a complete mess. Ani had furiously left the room after he had refused her. Reza mentally scolded himself for responding to her in the first place. “I’m just a normal red-blooded man after all. I mean, red-blooded dhampir.” He thought to himself, frowning a little. “How the hell am I supposed to face her though? Ah geez! I hate this!” he thought. And her sweet scent still lingered. It was on his hands, on his shirt, on the mattress...in the whole room. “Haha.” laughed Reza, uneasily. A terrible guilt was starting to spread all over his chest. He ran his fingers through his hair and let them rested there. Alexandria. “Dammit.” He whispered.

******

His perfect form moved stealthily inside the castle as he tried to find his way out. “Damn, this place is huge.” He mumbled. He did not sleep too well last night. Guess what happened was too much for him. He had decided to leave the castle before dawn. He figured that it would be too rude of him if he stayed for another day after what he did to the castle’s owner. Which set him up to what he had been doing for the last forty minutes or so, looking for his way out. Reza suddenly stopped moving as a thought crossed his mind. Could it be that Ani had made it so he could not leave the castle? But why? “Should I try teleporting?” he pondered.

“Don’t bother. You won’t be able to teleport from here. I’ve already taken care of that possibility.” said a female’s voice. Reza turned sharply. Ani came out from the shadows, her face grim. “Trying to escape without paying your debt?” she asked. “Wait a minute. I’m trying to do both of us a favour here. Surely you wouldn’t want to see my face here anymore?” said Reza.

"What I want doesn't matter." Ani said, her voice flat. "You will help me as you promised. Is that clear?"
Reza's fist clenched but he had no choice. He was bound. Literally.
"Follow me." She said and turned and began walking away. Reza took a deep breath then followed her. She led the way down a long corridor, she came to a door that opened it self and she started walking down the steps.
"Strange place. Stranger woman. What does she want with me?" Reza could be heard grumbling as he followed her down the stairs.

They climbed down the 100 steps or so and they came upon a pond.

"Do you know why I sided with Darkness?" Ani asked. She waved her hands and slowly the water began swirling.
Reza looked at her, and she turned her head to look at him, the desire in her eyes was unmistakable. He turned his eyes away and said, "Why did you?"
"Its because I needed the black aura that was contained within him." Ani said.
"His aura?" Reza said looking at her in surprise, "For what?"
"That you do not need to know." Ani said, "I cant use his aura any longer for obvious reasons. Though the Gods have been merciful in delivering you to me."
"What?" Reza said raising an eyebrow.
"You and Darkness share the same black aura." Ani said with a small smile. "Would you be kind enough in lending me your aura?"
"Im not sure." Reza said with a frown, "You see unless I know WHAT im giving my aura for I dont think I want to commit-" He yelled out as suddenly waterly arms rose from the pond and grabbed him.
"You see..." Ani murmured coming closer, "You don't have much of a choice." She kissed his cheek and stood back as the arms wrapped tightly around Reza. The last thing Reza saw was Ani's face before he blacked out.
****
Much later, Reza sleepily opened his eyes to see a pair of amethyst eyes looking at him. He closed his eyes and fell asleep again.
Ani tenderly touched his cheek. He was supposed to have died at the hands of Nerva but she had stopped the pond from killing him. "What is it about you..." She said softly in his ear, "That refuses to let me go." Her face looked troubled as she stared into the beautiful face and a little while later she got up and left the room.

Reza woke up with a start, his breathing frantic. He had had a nightmare, a long episode of nightmare, where the night when his mother’s heart was pierced by a sword repeated itself again, and Alexandria died again and then...a milky face appeared, pale, emotionless. Then, the closed eyes opened, and he felt as if his soul was being sucked in into hollowness. That feeling was the reason of him waking up from his slumber.

The sudden movement he made proved to be hazardous to him. He had no idea how weak he had become, and he only realized that when he fell off the bed, as he illogically lost his balance. Surprised by his own uselessness, Reza laid still, his face facing downwards. What happened? He wondered. He rose from his lying position, slowly reaching for the bed when he felt a spasm running through his body. He got hold of the bed’s edge and slumped at the side of the bed, gasping for breath. Hunger...terrible hunger. He gripped onto the bed sheet tightly, huffing. Then, he heard the door opened with a soft click, followed by rushing footsteps. Reza lifted his head a little to see the one who just came in. It was Ani. She grabbed him by his arm and back, wearing an anxious expression on her face. “What’s wrong?”she asked. “It’s...nothing...,” he huffed. “But you look pale!” cried Ani. “Leave...,” answered Reza, clasping on his heart and panting.

“I can’t leave you like this.” Whispered Ani. A strange light appeared in Reza’s eyes. “You...What are you....,” he paused, staring at her beautiful, panic-stricken expression. Ani was acting differently. The burning sensation inside his chest and throat shocked him again, and he shut his eyes, the pain carved on his face. I need fresh blood... The truth resounded in his thoughts, repeating itself over and over again. What happened to him in that underground pond seemed to have succeeded in making him lose his already cracking self-restraint. He had had his life source and energy sucked out during the fight with Lyonell, and he had used all of his remaining strength to shut The Black Gate, and now this.

Reza hid his face in the mattress. His fangs is coming out on their own, indicating the insane need in him. “Leave...,” he said, his voice muffled. “But-” Ani began. “I SAID LEAVE!” Reza roared, his face not in the mattress any longer, though he did not look up. Ani flinched and quickly got up to her feet. “Fine, suit yourself.” She spat and left the room, slamming the door.

*******
A few hours later, Ani came into the room, bringing with her a tray of food for Reza. She stilled on the doorway as soon as she went in. Reza was nowhere to be seen, and there was a piece of paper left on the table next to the bed. Ani heaved a sigh. She strolled towards the table, put the tray on it and picked up the note. I repaid my debt, it said, written in beautiful handwriting. Ani looked around the empty room.

SILVER'S RECESS.

“I really can’t believe this is happening,” Silver blushed, sitting at the vanity while Nina and her grandmother brushed and curled her brown hair into place, ringlets falling to the sides of her face while the rest was pulled into a loose bun and falling in wavy cascades. Her grandmother, Victoria, duchess and leader of her family of vampires, gently placed the diamond-studded tiara on the crown of her head without disturbing the do, the veil flowing out like a filmy white waterfall to below her shoulders.
“Believe it, or we’re going to have a fainting bride instead of a blushing one,” Victoria teased, “and you’re going to be young, no matter how old you will get—well, you just won’t age as fast as Sango, but you’ll still be a beautiful young woman for quite a while longer.”
Her grandmother organized the entire wedding after “asking” Silver and Sango to plan it after Darkness was defeated, listening to the occasional comment to use different flowers or decorators, just so Silver wouldn’t fret and leave, but was otherwise in control of the entire situation, including taking her granddaughter to a world famous wedding dress designer; she convinced the middle aged man to alter one of his most expensive dresses after Silver first tried it on and fell in love with it. Though Silver didn’t ask the price, she could tell it miffed the designer to change a piece he thought was otherwise perfect and probably cost more than she could imagine.
Victoria also let Sango go off with Brou, Kyle, male cousins and male servants who also happened to be fitters to a place she recommended, holding suits, robes, and other cultural wedding clothes for men. She insisted on Silver wearing a wedding dress.
Silver’s cheeks puffed in irritation. She had already known that for a long while, and she did not want to be reminded again by her own relative.
“I know, but I’m going to find a way to still be with him and live a long life with him.”
Her grandmother rolled her eyes.
“He’s part of the once most prestigious clan in the centuries. If there’s something I know about them, they live long, endurable lives.”
Silver pouted her lips. “I know, but I still just…well, live a really long life with him.”
The old woman looked at her, something lit in her eyes and smiled with no teeth.
“I know, I know,” she brushed Silver’s hair from her face delicately while speaking, “being in love with someone from another race can be challenging due to life spans, but I’m sure you both will pull through.”
Silver looked up in surprise. “Grandma?”
Nina came back into the room excited to no end with girls in tow. Nina was one of the few female friends Silver had, and the rest were relatives in Silver’s huge family she’s kept in contact with now and then.
“Are you guys ready? Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you’re going down the aisle!” Nina squealed, hugging Silver but careful not to touch the hair and ruin the stylist’s do.
The dhampir laughed, happy Nina could attend—heck, even want to be her maid of honor! It was great, and she thought that with Rick knowing, he might finally propose to Nina… they were steadily building their relationship and she wanted to see them happy.
Nina’s hair was curled, ringlets bouncing as she jumped up and down, but began loosening into loose waves down her back. She looked stunning, especially in the light rose pink strapless dress that came down to her knees. Nina even convinced Serena to be a maid of honor as well. All the other girls had the same outfit, with the exception of the young ones’ having a white bow around the waist of the dress along with white daisies and miniature pink and red roses in their hair.
