Silver’s grandmother grinned in satisfaction. “Just one more look over and I think we will be ready.” Though it took only a couple minutes—vampires were that good at being precise and being quick about it. Grabbing Silver’s hands, she carefully lifted her up, the strapless staying in place. The skirt floated away from the body, partly obscuring her swollen stomach. The bodice decorated in light lace and embroidery, pearls sewn into the hem and the skirt made of satin, the only decoration there, were shining white pearls and a train of soft lace leading beyond the skirt two feet. A delicate diamond studded necklace, its work appearing lacey, adorned her throat, the bottom reaching just below the shoulders. She honestly thought it was too much, but her grandmother insisted on that piece of jewelry.
Nina rolled her eyes. “Come on, girl. You’re the star of this event! Hurry up.” Down the hallway the murmur of music began after someone notified everyone was ready.
Silver’s grandmother looked at her. “You ready?”
“I feel like a beached whale,” she mumbled, blushing and walking to the door and to another room behind the aisle, so her dress could be straightened out and walk perfectly. She was only a few months pregnant. The old woman rolled her eyes.
“Stop fussing and just remember to come after the girls.”
Nina, the other girls, and young men escorted them down the aisle at arms’ length. Rick was in the lead with Nina, their hands touching, while the majority of them, excluding Altec and Jin, were male relatives of the expansive vampire family. Jin escorted one of the youngest girls, amused when she was getting tired to holding her hand so high to meet his.
The main room of the church was relatively small, meant only for friends and family. Oak pews decorated the outside of the aisle, and near the front sat Raya, Renji, Ken, and Jyaden near the aisle on the left along with Jess, Kyle and the temple’s elders Shinya and Yuki, all wearing formal clothes, while the elders wore fancy robes. A majority of the temple’s students sat in the pews behind their masters, while the rest of Silver’s family and their friends sat in the remaining pews.
As soon as the remaining girls and men cleared the aisle, the music deepened in timbre and increased dramatically to finish with a faded end. The tune turned into a newer version of an orchestra piece she knew, notes from the traditional wedding song weaved into the music. Oddly enough, it fit well together to create a beautifully melodic piece.
Clutching her granddaughter’s right elbow, Victoria handed her two long stemmed lilies of the valley, their scent wafting over Silver, the scent reminding her of a calm lake at dawn.
“Ready?” she smiled, wrinkles crinkling her eyes and corners of her mouth.
Silver swallowed, looked long at her then nodded. She noted Silver to put her best foot forward, but that didn’t do much to calm her.
At the altar, Sango stood stoically in black robes and holding his hands in front of him. Brou stood beside him, his best man and clad in white robes, conveniently hiding his lost left arm. He grinned in her direction, giving a subtle wink.
Silver smiled, happy for the little support and walked tall.
Young people at the end of the pews farthest from the aisle stood raising one hand, first closed then opened to shoot out magic birds and flying miniature angels and shooting stars and other cute things, all illusions but still entrancing to watch and soon faded. It was the grand announcement she was here: the bride.
Everyone turned in their seats, some sitting calmly while others grinned from ear to ear and shifted uneasily with suppressed joy.
Slowly, but at a pace not to put Silver to sleep, the two women marched down the aisle, more magical birds flitting about with no noise. When Silver reached the front pew, Jyaden grabbed her hand, gripping it tightly before releasing it with a sad but happy grin. Silver grinned back, fighting off the oncoming wetness in her eyes.
The two made it to the altar, Victoria handing off the girl.

A priest who studied differing religions stood between them, along with three low rimmed cups on a ladder tier. The priest started with a brief sermon, joining the two in spirit and mind, body and love. He handed the cup on the lowest tier to Silver, sipping the spiced sake and handing it to Sango, who also drank from it. The priest went on talking, while lighting herbs—Silver recognized one of them as rosemary and lavender—and blowing out the fire, leaving a pleasant aroma he wafted around the two. He picked up the second cup and handed it to Sango, then Silver, the two savoring the taste of rice wine flavored with rosemary, lavender, and hyacinth—the herbs representing love, remembrance, protection and happiness. The priest then went on to conclude the ceremony, binding the two forever through hard times and easy times, for protecting each other from enemies unknown, comforting each other, and helping one another through the maze in their heart. The old man reached over and pinched in his fingers pollen from one of the lilies Silver held and the black cohosh Sango had in his breast pocket in the modernly built robes, sprinkling it in the last cup and stirred it in with an oak stirring stick, handing it to Silver and instructing them to hold the drink in their mouths before swallowing. The two did as told while the priest sprinkled sage, rosemary and other scented crushed herbs around them, binding them forever together like the cranes that mate for life. The priest then placed a white feather, tinged with black at the tip, into Silver’s hair and under the ceremonial obi Sango wore. The priest was coming to a close. “You two are now bound, in life and in death, like the great cranes that soar the sky, the ancient dragons that never left one another’s side, the wolves that nurture and hunt, and the condors that see more than a human eye can see. May you remember one another’s love, kind words; may you march forward confident solving your trials together; may you not be separated by anything that is to come; may you help one another, no matter what; and may you always be together in peace and happiness. “Sango, it is my pleasure to announce you may kiss your bride.” Sango looked on calmly, but his eyes said otherwise as he took a step forward, removing the small veil and positioning a hand behind her head and leaning in, his lips meeting hers passionately. She responded to his touch by leaning in more and wrapping her arms around his broad shoulders. Everyone at the front started clapping, along with everyone else in the pews. Jyaden had tears in his eyes, but couldn’t stop smiling. The front pew rose, then the second, till everyone was soon standing, confetti flying and more tricks of magic flying about in applause. When the two pulled back to take a breath, Brou reached forward and clapped a hand on Sango’s back and hugging Silver, congratulating them but to wait until after the reception. The couple smiled gaily, Silver especially, jumping up and down as people crowded around them. The bride jumped into Sango’s arms and whispered happily, “We did it; we really did it.” Her eyes twinkled. Sango grinned, kissing her again. “We did. Nothing will keep us apart now.”

~Three months later~
Silver screamed in pain again, holding her knees to her chest in the plush bed, down pillows holding her vertically. “Breath,” the nurse cooed, her hand being crushed in Silver’s hold as she went through another whirlwind of labor. Victoria stood beside her, dabbing a cold washcloth on her head and wiping away her sweat-smeared hair and instructing to blow out air in puffs. A couple nurses readily replaced the towels under her with new ones, prompting the baby out in what would hopefully not take too long. Sango waited outside her room in the family’s mansion, resting his face on elbows propped on his knees while he sat in a plush chair. Brou patted his back. “She’ll be okay,” he reassured, looking away from the door. “She’s a tough girl.” “I know, but I still wish I could be in there with her,” Sango groaned, cradling his head in his hands still. Brou grinned. “Can’t help it if the nurses kick us out.” Sango grimaced, holding back a groan and stood up to lean against the wall. Screaming erupted from the room now and then, but the most noise was from nurses scurrying, giving and receiving orders, and telling Silver to breathe. Several more hours passed, still the same routine, until screaming erupted from the room again, this time not stopping after several minutes. “I can’t take this any longer,” Sango huffed, pushing the door open and bolting to Silver’s side and grabbing hold of her hand. The nurses objected, but the duchess dismissed it. Victoria stood opposite him, surprised but a slight grin creeping into her mouth. Silver was a real mess now, with hair plastered to her face and neck now. Sango reached out and pulled away her brown hair onto the pillows, gripping her hand in response after a hard grasp in response to another wave of pain. “It hurts so much, I don’t know if the baby will be okay or not,” Silver strained to whisper, closing her eyes and huffing to bear the strain on her body. “Of course she will, it’s just natural for it to be this long,” Victoria reassured sharply in her granddaughter’s ear. Sango and Silver looked up at her in surprise, though Silver was now half dazed. The old woman smiled. “I just know these things. But don’t focus on that. Keep breathing.” Silver nodded, another flood of pain flooded her, doing as she was told and huffing continuously, the nurses working around her legs, blocking Sango’s view with a blanket for decency. The head was beginning to emerge. An hour more passed, until the baby was delivered safely. Cutting the umbilical chord, the women set to cleaning the child—a girl. Another nurse came by and wrapped a blanket around Silver to the chest. Her arms fell weakly to her side, Sango sitting on the edge of the bed brushing her forehead while Victoria set to cleaning the child. A few minutes later, Victoria and the other women came back, the baby wrapped in warm cloth to fight off the cold, producing the child in Silver’s arms. The dhampir brushed her forehead and nose softly with a finger, their daughter whimpering from the touch, but comforted after the touch lingered. Mia looked up at them with bright blue eyes, light brown hair dusting her head. “It’s our daughter,” Silver said incredulously, eyes droopy from strain and lacking sleep. Sango grinned and kissed both their foreheads, stroking the baby girl’s hair. “Mia, let’s name her that,” Sango said quietly. Silver nodded sleepily, her eyelids almost closing immediately. Victoria smiled. “Alright, well, you get some sleep, darling; it’s been a tiring day.” She looked at the couple and sighed. “I’ll look after the little darling until you’re awake, Silver.” The young woman nodded, handing Mia to Victoria, the nurses cleaning up the room and heading out quietly, Victoria in tow. She paused at the door and turned to Sango. He shook his head. The old woman nodded, closing the door softly. Whispers could be heard outside the door, escalating to almost squealing—Nina, apparently, along with others crowding around the door. Her grandmother chastised them for speaking too loudly around the baby, promptly taking off down the halls till all was quiet. Sango crawled into bed with Silver, his wife making room for him until they lay there snugly. He placed his arms about her carefully and the two lay like that. “She’s a very beautiful daughter,” he whispered, nuzzling his face in her neck. Silver nodded and smiled, nuzzling her head in his chest. Sango closed his arms around her protectively until he felt her breathing steady in to slow breaths. He kissed his sleeping wife. “She’s very beautiful,” he said to himself.

Her heart feeling starngely heavy, she kept down the tray and walked to the sliding doors leading into the balcony and pulled them open, letting in the cool breeze. The wind lifted the hair away from her face and she leaned against the railing of the balcony, staring down at the thick trees. The sound of the animals filled the night, she stood there a while listening to them, suddenly eerie screeching sound started from the far corner of the forest. Ani straightened up and frowned, the screeching continued and she narrowed her eyes, it didnt sound like animals...She waved her hand and disappeared.

Reza faced off the 50 or so vampires on his own. They had ambushed him as he was making his way through the jungle.
He was unsteady on his feet but they were young and not so experienced and despite his lack of strength he was managing fine. A young vampire jumped and he dodged , extending his claws slashed at the the vampire's back, the vampire screeched and Reza beheaded him. The world swayed before him but he shook his head to clear it away.
"How much longer will you hide behind the pawns?" Reza called out to the elte assasins who hid in the trees.
"As long as it takes to wear you out completely." A voice replied in an amused voice. Reza couldnt detect its source and he sighed, facing the young vampires as they attacked again.
A little while later, all the bodies lay killed on the ground. Reza fell on his knees, too weak to stand.
"There...not so tough are we ???" A voice said from afar. One of the assasins started walking towards him.

"I wouldnt touch him if I were you." A voice called out. The assasin looked up to see a beautiful woman emerging from the trees.
"Who are you?" The Assasin asked raising his eyebrow.
Ani smiled, "Call me Ani." She said in a pleasant voice.

The desert sun blazed as usual. Hot winds rose and blew the sand around the arid landscape.

"I have to do this." Kyle said.
"Why?" Jess demanded.
"Because I will never completely be at peace unless I know." Kyle replied.
She slapped him, her eyes full of angry tears, "When will you get it through your thick skull thats its not about you anymore?" She asked, tears splashing down her delicately beautiful face.

Kyle pushed the image away from his mind as he stood facing Esil.
"You have come to avenge your father?" Esil said in a flat voice.
Kyle nodded then said, "Ever since I was a child, I was told my father was the strongest man in the world." Kyle said and took out his daggers, "You must be a helluva good fighter to have brought him down so quickly."
Esil didnt reply and took out his sword, "I seek death in battle." He said, "Do not accept mercy from me as I expect none from you."
Kyle didnt reply and braced himself. Esil poised for attack and the fighting began.

Reza looked up, feeling surprised at her unexpected arrival. She’s not supposed to be here! Those thought screamed in his mind. The same burning sensation attacked him again, making him wringed in pain. Ani sent him a fleeting glances before she casually smiled at the assassins, then she turned back at him, this time looking at him fully in his face. She started to walk towards him. Then, bending forward, she touched his shoulder and slowly pulled him up gently. Reza pulled back, causing him to drop back onto his two knees and stared at her sharply.

“What are you doing here?” he demanded, half-snarling.
“Stop being so proud. I just want to be rid of these monkeys. They were too loud,” answered Ani. She tried helping him again, to which he refused harshly by pulling away once again.
“I’m not being proud. You’re in danger. Please mind your own business and leave me be.”
Answered Reza haughtily. Ani’s eyes gleamed, the anger evident in them, and she clenched her teeth angrily. Suddenly, one of the elite assassins let out a gagged sound and crumbled into dust.
“You were saying?” asked Ani with a glare towards the dhampir prince. Reza did not answer, as he was almost at his limit, huffing painfully where he was kneeling. “You look terrible. I’m taking you back to my castle, after I deal with these noisy monkeys.” Ani said and turned her attention to the vampires. “Dammit...,” moaned Reza and then, everything turned black as he passed out.

Ani tilted her head to see she was surrounded. Her eyes twinkled as she smiled at the vampire before her. "Do all of you wish to suffer the same fate?"
Laughter filled the air, "Look how she acts tough." One of the jeered.
"He was the weakest in the group." Another said. "Dont compare us to him."
A third one laughed. "Youre a dead woman."
"Fresh blood." The fourth assasin panted. "I want it."
"Calm down." The assasin in front of her said, "There is enough for everyone."

Ani didnt move as they closed in on her, when they stepped within ten feet of her, fire encircled her, they all jumped back but hands emerged from the fire and reached for them, all managed to evade excape for one who screamed as she got enveloped in the fire and burnt to death.

She extended her hand and vines erupted from the ground catching two assasins and crushing them to death. 5 remained.

"What is she?" One of them whispered.

"Surround her and attack as one." Another ordered and the vampires split up.

Ani looked at them, her eyes started to glow and purple light encircled her, there was a blinding flash of light as her aura surrounded the area and then all went quiet.

Ani stood breathing hard, everything within a 100 feet of her was destroyed, all animals and plants having disintegrated completely. She had put a protective shield around Reza and she made her way towards him. Suddenly a dark shape shot out of the trees. It was one of the assasins, most of his skin was singed and there was a mad look in his eyes. He rushed at her angrily, his fangs and claws bared, she reached for her sword and turned lightly on her feet, the sword wrapped around the assins's neck before he could figure out what had happened, his head flew and hit the ground. Ani smiled slightly as the sword straighted into its original form and the body crumpled to the ground. She flicked her hair away from her beautiful face and reached for Reza. She stroked the hair away from his face gently and then reaching down wrapped her arms around him and they vanished.

Esil slashed forward! Kyle could barely dodge the quick strike. He watched as Esil stood still in the sand. "I can see," Esil said said, "that this will be no regular battle."
Kyle summoned up all of his Sheirei by his side. Esil looked at him straight in the eyes, unmoving. Kyle thought for a moment and sent his Sheirei away. They nudged at his feet in defiance while doing so. "No. I'll do this alone!" Kyle yelled as he charged at Esil!

Esil blocked the strike, immediately pushing Kyle back and slashing himself. Kyle blocked in rhythm. Esil pushed hard, forcing Kyle downwards. He clenched his teeth in anger and put all his strength forward. "I'm not dying that quick!" he screamed as the two were now matched for strength.
Esil jumped back, making Kyle stumble to the ground...

Esil slammed his elbow in Kyle's back and Kyle smashed into the ground, Esil brought down his sword in quick succession to behead him but Kyle disappared in a portal created by a sherei.
He appeared behind Esil and kicked out with both legs and Esil flew and landed hard on the ground. Kyle used both his hands and flipped, landing in a crouch.
"I didnt want to use my sherei." Kyle said as both he and Esil stood up. "But they respond automatically if they feel Im in danger."
Esil didnt reply and raised his sword. Kyle's eyes widened as Esil seemed to disappear. He couldnt evade fast enough as Esil appeared behind him. Blood erupted as the whole of his backside got slashed. He fell down on the ground from the shock of it. All of his sherei tore from the ground, growling and snapping and driving Esil away from Kyle.
"How fast is he?" Kyle thought in a daze as he got to his feet.
Esil was dogding the sherei as they charged at him. He seemed uninterested in fighting with them.
Kyle watched him move, his blood creating a small puddle around his feet. He flicked his finger sand the sherei reluctantly retreated underground.
Esil looked at Kyle then ran at him. Kyle blocked the blow again and was driven back through the sand till both he and Esil locked their weapons.
Suddenly Jess's image flashed through his mind and his grip wavevered. Esil withdrew his sword with a quick jerk and turning kicked Kyle in the stomache sending him flying and slamming into the desert sand.

He groaned in frustration as soon as he opened his eyes. “Just how many times is this going to happen??” he asked angrily to himself, staring at the ceiling he was starting to know so well. He looked around and saw that Ani was not in the room. He immediately thought of escaping at once. He was gradually growing weaker and weaker and he knew he could not afford any procrastination any more. I must get back to Lilith, he thought as he feverishly climbed down the bed, staggering so alarmingly. Reza focused his mind to teleporting, but it was proven futile. He was much too weak to even do that. “Whatever. Let’s do this manually,” he grumbled. Reza took a step forward, thinking of using the window to escape and fell flat on his face when he tried taking another step.

“S**t.” he said unhappily. Feeling very anxious, he quickly got up to his two feet. He finally managed to get to the window and he looked down to see the ridiculous height he was at. “Just where exactly this room is situated at? She sure did a hell of a good job in keeping me prisoner.” He muttered under his breath. Sure he can let himself fall down and break every bones in his body, but considering that his regeneration and healing abilities are currently not functioning unless he gets fresh blood BEFORE hurling himself downward, that was absolutely not a good idea. “How the hell am I supposed to get out from here?” Reza mumbled again. He could not possibly leave out the front door, Ani would definitely notice because as much as he hated to admit it, he was currently so useless and vulnerable, he could not even walk properly, let alone use his vampire speed.

His racing mind was disturbed by the same burning sensation he had felt before. “Please, not now!” Reza whispered panicly, as he clutched onto his heart. As he succumbed to his knees again, he could only hope that Ani would not appear in that instant. That woman, was dangerous to him. But luck was not by his side. The door clicked open and soon the woman he was starting to wish he had never got involved with (though he was 50% grateful to her because of the Lyonell’s thingy) was already by his side, helping him back to the bed.

Ani soaked a towel in the basin she brought with her and squeezed the water out of it. She then brought it to Reza’s forehead. Reza cowered back. “Leave me alone.” He said, half-gasping now.

“Shhh." Ani said softly as she patted his wound, "You're hurting."
“That’s none of your business. You caused this to happen to me!” Reza answered back. Ani stayed quiet. She did not want to aggravate him.

“Ugh...,” Reza moaned painfully, his face as white as a sheet. Ani reached out to touch him, but he smacked her hand away.
Ani smiled faintly and reached for him again and even though he raised his hand to smack it away it fell weaky and she touched his cheek, stroking it softly.

His hair fell over his eyes as he stared down at the mattress, clutching on the bed sheet. Reza suddenly backed away. “Not...too close,” he whispered, and covered his protruding fangs with his right hand. The sound of her heart pumping blood throughout the arteries and capillaries was driving him crazy. And she had such an alluring scent on her too. “Reza...?” called Ani, her voice was calm, compelling, reassuring.

“Please, go away. I beg of you...,” Reza said with difficulties as he sunk his face onto the mattress, fighting off his dangerous, urgent need.
“Go away...,” he said, half-pleading.

“Reza, How can your pain be eased?” Ani asked gently. How, she asked. How indeed...He had lost it.

Reza crawled up to Ani, much to her surprise and embraced her. “Please quench my thirst,” he whispered in her ear. He pushed her on her back. Soon, he was on top of her. Ani was breathing hard, her mind whirling. He refused her once, did he not? She lay still, letting him inhale her scent as she too, was mesmerized by his. She shuddered as he deliberately licked her smooth neck. Then, her eyes widen when something pierced into her skin. She realized what had happened when she heard a slurping sound. “Reza!!" She gasped then hissed in pain when his fangs sunk deeper. She dug her nails at his back wanting to hurt him as much as he was hurting her, but he caught her hands and gripped them tightly as he continued to drink her blood. Ani struggled once then succumbed, her body arching to meet him. Moments later, Reza came back to his senses. Ani felt exhausted, her body shivering. The dhampir was horrified to find her pinned underneath him, and her blood-stained neck with its punctured wound. He had regained his strength, and he had jumped down from the bed, feeling terribly guilty. “I’m-I’m sorry!” he said in a panicky voice.

Ani didnt move, her heart thudding loudly. She sat up slowly and touched her neck where his fangs had pierced her skin. She looked up at him and he was pacing back and forth saying words of apology. She wasnt listening to him but his voice sounder deeper, smoother, stronger after taking her blood. She gazed him as if in a trance.
"Please say something." Reza pleaded, seeming very young and unsure of himself. It was the first time she was seeing him like that. It tugged at her heart like nothing before.
Ani stood up to her full height and stared at him proudly, "I must say...." She began and Reza stood still, listening to her. "Now you are in my debt." Her eyes twinkled. "Again."
Reza stared at her unsure if she was joking or not then started chuckling. "Did I hurt you?" He asked softly as he came forward and traced a finger down her neck's soft flesh.
"Not anymore than I hurt you." Ani said and came closer to him then stopped, she had been rejected once....she was unsure if he wanted her body as much as he wanted her blood. She raised a finger to touch his forehead to read his thoughts but stopped herself and lowered her hand once again.
Reza was staring at her and she looked back at him, willing him to say the words she so desperately needed to hear.
Reza looked into her eyes and sighed. "I'm sorry. I really am." said the dhampir, looking the other way, his expression showing the guilt he was bearing. Ani knew it was not because of the fact that he had forcefully taken her blood.
She turned her back to him, her heart feeling ready to burst with sadness.
"Ani..." Reza murmured and she bit her lip when she heard him call out her name. Suddenly she clenched her fists, why was she being so foolish? She could easily have him if she wanted, he couldn't fight her power. If she wished, she could make him believe he was completely in love with her. She could steal his sanity and fill it with thoughts of her. She turned back and faced him.
Reza stood, illuminated in the moonlight, his perfect features looking vulnerable and sad.
She walked towards him and pressed her body into his, she lifted her hands and buried them in his hair and then brought down his forehead and pressed it to hers.
There was a moment of intense silence then Ani slowly drew back. Reza looked down at her in bewilderment, wondering what she was doing. She smiled sadly and said, "I think Its time you go back. I'll consider my debt repaid. Goodbye."
Reza stood still for a moment then nodded, "Im sorry. And thank you."
She didnt reply as she turned her back to him again. "Go." She whispered.
Reza looked at her once more then disappeared from her sight.
Ani sat down on her bed and clutched her throat, her eyes tightly shut, forcing back the tears that inexplicably, threatened to fall.

Esil summoned away his swords and walked slowly to Kyle as he laid there, bleeding and tired. He knelt down and gazed into Kyle's eyes. "You are...different, Kyle Teef." Esil whispered. "There is something more behind your intentions. Tell me, why do you wish to kill me?"

Kyle lay there a minute, breathing hard. It occurred to him that Esil could easily kill him right now, if he wished. He swallowed hard and began speaking, "Yei Teef." He said. "Was the strongest man I knew. Rumored to be one of the greatest warriors to walk on land. All my life I wanted to beat him. Be better than him."
Esil listened without batting an eyelash.
"When you came to our village to challenge him. I knew he would win. After all , he's the greatest warrior on earth right?" Kyle was getting angry though he didnt know why. "You beat him. Quite easily too." Kyle's fists clenched painfully. "Yei Teef. The great warrior fell to the hands of Esil the deathbringer."
"So you do wish to avenge him?" Esil asked in a monotone.
Kyle opened his mouth and then closed it. He sat up slowly and looked Esil. "No." He said slowly. "I wanted to beat you because I wanted to prove to myself that I was better than my dad. That I was was able to become better than the one person I wish to surpass with all my heart."
"And yet you fight with only half your heart." Esil said.
Kyle spoke painfully, "I came here thinking this is what I wanted to do. But..." Kyle stopped. "'Its not about you anymore..."' Jess voice resounded in his head. He put his hand over his eyes. Im so sorry Jess. I was too stubborn to see how right you were.
"But its too late now." He whispered as he got ready to accept his fate.

It was chaotic among Lilith and Charmaine. They had received the news of Reza leaving for Underdark without telling them from Serena and Lilith had since then, been trying to get to Underdark by contacting Reza, but he had sealed all means of communication with her. Then, there was the bitter realization that Suzu too, had gone missing. The trace Lilith put on her seemed to have already worn off, so she too could not be detected. It was certainly not good news when the war heroes came back to Azuriya without Reza with them. It was the first time Charmaine saw Lilith’s crestfallen expression. It made her cry until her eyes were red and swollen. The vampire lady stood her reserved and noble manner, not crying a tear though her face showed her deep sorrow.

People were too happy to be freed of Darkness’s grasp to mourn for the dhampir they had just known. In the end, it was only Nina and Charmaine who cried for Reza’s ‘death’. Charmaine had just realized something she never thought of before. She adored Reza not as a friend. She missed his mischievous snickers too much, and his gentleness even more. For the whole week, she frequented his ‘grave’ everyday, bringing flowers with her, which she scattered on his final resting place, shedding bitter tears as long as she sat by the empty grave. As for Ribut, he was always nearby the grave, and every night one could hear his mournful call, such a sad sound it was. Lilith refused to go there, she was sure Reza was still alive. But by the end of the fifth day, she was weeping like she just had her heart broken in the cabin they were staying at. “What do I do? My master is gone...The one I’ve been so carefully nurtured, he’s gone...” she wept. Charmaine hugged her and cried too. The next day, Lilith started scattering flowers on the grave, just like Charmaine had always did, looking so weary and sad.

On the eighth day, Charmaine decided to leave for her quest and she went for the last time to the grave. Lilith was already there when she arrived. Charmaine asked about her future plan, to which she did not answer. Looking at Lilith, and the grave, it was so hard for Charmaine to hold back the tears. Later, Nina came together with Rick. She did not look so sad anymore, and Charmaine was fast in understanding why. After a few conversation, the couple left. Now it was only the witch protege’, Lilith, and the faithful stallion which had grown thin, out of grief.

Charmaine kissed the tombstone and slowly got up. “Lilith, come with me. We’ll cherish him together within our memories. It won’t be easy, but we ought to try, right?” Charmaine said, swallowing the tears on her last sentence. Lilith looked at her, and looked back at the tombstone, a tear escaping her beautiful eyes. “I’m a bad mother for saying this, but I love Milord more than I love my own daughter. I left home for him after all.” Said Lilith softly. “You should see him when he was a little boy, the sweet little angel...,” she continued. Soon, she was sobbing uncontrollably. “I was the first one that held him when he was born, I held him first with these two hands, even before Lady Jamilah did...,” she sobbed.

“Lilith, what’s with the tears?” a gentle voice came from behind the two of them. Charmaine and Lilith stilled. Charmaine turned first. A gasp escaped her breath when she saw him, standing there, smiling sweetly at her. “My, my...What have we here? A grave under my name?” he said, staring at the tombstone. Charmaine heard Lilith running up to him, mumbling incoherent words while crying on his chest and Ribut's loud neigh for the first time since the group came back from Underdark, whilst her own eyes clouded with tears. “Reza, you idiot...,”

The pain coursed through her body like an electric shock. Ani gasped and fell to the floor, the second spasm left her panting.
As the pain coursed through her body for the third time, Ani screamed out loud.
The curse continued for a long time till Ani finally believed she would lose her mind. It slowly eased, till Ani lay shuddering on the ground, her whole body covered in a cold sweat.
It was punishment for not feeding the tomb the rest of the black aura. She struggled to her feet, gasping and staggered to her bed where she crumpled in a heap, shaking. Her ancestor had placed a curse on his descendants to serve him or else pay the excruciating consequences. She was helpless to do anything but obey his will.
I have to feed him the black aura or else I will keep getting punished like this. Ani thought fearfully.
