Wanted: Forum Moderators
Posted 7/14/09 , edited 7/16/09
1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position?
- I have a good grammar skill and I used to enjoy reporting threads back in my old website (the one before CR)
- Even now in CR, I studied the Forum rules, and now I have noticed a lot of errors in each Forum topic that I feel like it needs to be edited.
- I have also helped a lot of users answering any site problem they have. Whether it's about video players or the site itself, I have no trouble with that
- Not once have I act inappropriate in the Forum
- Overall, I have been reporting a number of threads, I have a good range of knowledge on Music, Anime, Drama, and Games, and I have a lot of site knowledge.
- If I'm not sure what I am doing, I will not hesitate to ask for assistance
- I have a great understanding of the rules, along with how moderating works.

2) What would your moderation style be like?
- Warnings would be issued first if I saw a user violating the rules.
- If a user tried to start a fight, I will do my best to stop them
- I will post a reason before I lock any thread, so the creator knows what is wrong with their threads.
- When a user post pictures that are not PG-13 in the forum, I will remove them and give the user a warning.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often?
- I have been posting replies in some threads
- Most of the time, I post a reason if there is something wrong in a thread

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
- When I understand how CR works, I started reporting threads that I notice some problems in it.
- I once reported a big set of threads in my old site, and even now, I still do it.

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating?
- I'm working with Computer most of the time, so I should have at least 10 hours of dedication

6) What other activities occupy your time?
- Playing online games, and drawing some random pictures

7) What timezone do you live in?
- GMT +7 (to put it simple, I'm from Thailand)

8) If you have any other comments that you feel is necessary and wasn't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:
- You can't judge user because they are recently joined.
- I might look new, but that doesn't mean I'm clueless in the forum
- I know my way around the forum
- I have been reporting tons of threads
- I have proven how much knowledge I have
- I have the ability to solve an argument between two or more users
- I have faced with many Forum attitudes as a mini-mod
- I am ready to face the situation as a mod.

Thank you for reading my application.

1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position?
------ People say I'm a perfectionist because most of the time I will rather organize than have fun. And I have a blast organizing. I'm pretty decent in grammar especially English. I can speak 4 languages (English, Mandarin, Japanese and Tagalog). That is why I'm a songwriter. I am fair to almost everyone. I know most of the people here who are posting on forums hate Forum Moderators, because sometimes they are unfair. I want to change their view.

2) What would your moderation style be like?
------ Editing wrong grammars and spellings while closing forums that contains duplicates or even x-rated topics. As long as they follow the rules, We will be okay ^^,

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often?
------ I am usually in the Entertainment sections and I post a lot if I have time to spare.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
------ Yes, I have. A lot of time and people are starting to hate me, I guess. I don't really care if they hate me because I'm just following the rules

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating?
------ Maybe two to three hours a day I am most of time online in the morning, Eastern Time

6) What other activities occupy your time?
------ School and work mostly occupy my time. But sometimes it's band practice

7) What timezone do you live in?
------ Eastern

8) If you have any other comments that you feel is necessary and wasn't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:
------ It's totally fine with me if I'm not picked to be a forum moderator. I will still contribute being a normal member of crunchyroll. Good Luck to everyone ^^V Peace out

Hello there.
I am pretty new to here but I may be able to help out a little.
Questions:

1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position?
I am a moderator of a existing site 20,000+ members (am happy to supply details by PM) with 2 years experience of moderation.
Love anime, I've a cool head, am happy to work within guidelines being prepared to listen to other opinions before acting.
I have been told I have very good transfer and inter-personal skills professionally something I find invaluable.

2) What would your moderation style be like?
I prefer to work with people on their behaviour first through in thread reminders, initial warning if it isn't being heeded, fixed term suspensions and with much heart searching, banning in the most extreme cases. I would never ban any person without discussion.
I ensure no matter what I may feel personally about the matter I do not project my own emotions or biases in any correspondence which is kept polite even under severe provocation.
With regards to grammar etc, my main emphasis is on 'readability' - can a member tell what it is the poster is communicating rather than the finer points of grammar and the odd typo. Spelling differences? Yes, some of us spell the Commonwealth way more still the American way. I wouldn't correct any persons post to my standard as that would be disrespectful.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often?
I read daily but only post if I feel there's a point to be made.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
Not here. Have and do at the forum I am a existing moderator so am sure I'd sure pick up your protocols quickly.

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating?
Around a hour to a hour and a half per day as I'm on site.
I often view two or more sites at anyone time.

6) What other activities occupy your time?
Music, reading with some photography apart from the anime of course!

7) What timezone do you live in? GMT

8) If you have any other comments that you feel is necessary and wasn't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:
I feel although I'm very new here my previous experiences and preparedness to learn could be of use to the shared task of moderating the forum.

Hello there.

Questions:

1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position? The skills that I contain and would make me a good candidate for this position would be that I’m a very hardworking person. I’m a good listener and leader. I’m extremely organized. I love to help others in whatever way I can. I know that I am reasonable around others and strong in everything that I do. I am excellent in grammar. Also, I know different kinds of languages. I am not afraid to speak out and when it comes to my responsibilities, it becomes my first priority in making it serious. I am a huge multi-tasker and that doesn’t affect me in any way.

2) What would your moderation style be like? My moderation style would be to check up on all the threads and check if any members that are on the threads have done anything improper. If anything were to happen, as in improper language, fights, etc, then I’ll first give them a warning, secondly, I’ll check their profile and see if any actions is happening there also, and if the warning is not taken seriously, then I’ll ban them for a while, depending on the case. Either they like it or not, it’ll be my responsibility to make sure that crunchyroll is an excellent and clean site to be on. Another thing that I’ll be also looking for will be duplicate threads or even threads that contain misunderstandings. If there were a duplicate thread, then I’ll close it down. I’ll make sure to fix or delete anything, if that were the case also. Lastly, if any members come to me for any assistance, I’ll do whatever in my power to help them and fix whatever the problem may be.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often? I often check out the forum categories because it does interest me a lot, but then again, I do like to devote my time to everyone that talks to me as well. I usually post a lot, but I always obey the rules and I even tell other crunchyroll members to please pay attention to the rules because it’s better not to start a fight over sometime that’s not even worth fighting for.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often? Yes, I have reported inappropriate threads before. How often, maybe like 2 or 3 times. It happens rarely, but whenever it happens, I know I always go to any of the other moderators and ask them to check them out and give them a warning.

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating? I would devote a lot of my time to crunchyroll, since I am always on it. But if I were to be more specific, I can do mornings and nighttime.

6) What other activities occupy your time? Other activities that occupy my time would be my college life, playing video games, reading manga, etc. Currently, I am a college student and I have been for 3 years now and that still doesn’t take my time or me away from crunchyroll. I might be busy at times, but no matter what, I always find time to come on to my favorite site and talk with my crunchyroll buddies and have fun in the forums or chat zones. And now if I do get this position in becoming a forum moderator, I’m willing to do more and my best on crunchyroll to make it even better as it is right now.

7) What time zone do you live in? CDT (US).

8) If you have any other comments that you feel is necessary and wasn’t covered in the other questions, you may write them here: I don’t have any other questions to ask, but if I do get any in mind, I’ll be surely to ask without hesitation.

Thank you for reading my application and have a great day. ^-^

1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position?
I have lots of webmaster experience with several big sites and I certainly know how a forum is supposed to run. But of course I will moderate after the guidelines given. I have also been trusted with moderator access on several websites in the past and I'm only moderator on another forum as of today, but it's quite big and there is enough to do.

2) What would your moderation style be like?
First of all would I only react as a moderator if someone is breaking the rules given by the CR staff and check up on reported posts and topics to see if they either need editing or deletion.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often?
I haven't been able to post that much yet, because I'm fairly new (as an active member of CR), but I post daily in several forums and I browse pretty much every forum to see if there are any topics catching my interests.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
I haven't gotten around to report many posts yet, mainly because other people have reported them before I've been able to react. But I think I report any topic or post if they are against the CR rules.

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating?
I would pretty much be able to check all the time, I use the computer too much. I do sleep though.

6) What other activities occupy your time?
Nothing really, I sometimes hang with friends and go out to party, but that's about it.

7) What timezone do you live in?
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1)

1) What skills do you possess that you believe would make you a good candidate for this position?
I like to give a good firm argument over a situation. Once, in an anime forum, someone started posting things that they knew were not relating to the topic. So I started posting reasons why they couldn't do that. The member then started posting things related to the forum but it changed the story. Pretty soon, I kept telling that girl her wrongs in forum comments and some of the other members in that forum started backing me up. I'm also one of those people who are a perfectionist and think that whatever is made for a certain reason, they should have the right to stay that way.

2) What would your moderation style be like?
I wouldn't really post anything bad in that forum. I would simply look back to the last post that I left at and continue searching to see if they get off topic really bad or start up a riot.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories and do you post often?
I used to log on everyday and post on a certain forum because it was like a chain story. But lately, I haven't had time so I can't do anything. I usually check on the story once in a while though.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
I have not yet because people did the right things. But I have heard from my friends about a few forums that weren't appropriate.

5) How much time do you think you would be able to devote to moderating?
Maybe an hour a day.

6) What other activities occupy your time?
Sports, family, out of town trips, and a few chores that take a long time to finish. Every once in a while I go on vacation for a while.

7) What timezone do you live in?
Central
