this question is very debatable! The topic here is about the anime in the Late 90's. But really its more of a generation thing. i have seen these anime but i have also seen others.

Ask this question to a thrirty something or forty something and youll get different responses.

You young-uns (damn I sound old!) got to see stuff that i wouldn't have dreamed of in my childhood! My childhood was in the late 80's early 90's, Anime was barely getting good (if there was any to be seen at all). not many people had exposure to it. we had more of our domestic cartoons. Of course this is in the US, other countries have lots more available.

Growing up the anime scene was different. some of what I got to see was: Ronin warriors, Samurai pizza cats, Transformers, and sometimes Sailor moon. It wasnt much to begin with, but of course there was more out there but when youre a kid, you were pretty much satisfied with what was on TV. this was when there was no DVD's or Interenet, so you etiher had to learn about anime by word of mouth or you had to rent VHS to see new things.

Ask a fan of Mid 90's and they will talk about: Slayers, Ranma 1/2, Kigamure Orange Road, Saint Seya, Magic knight rayeath and El hazard

question to an 80's anime fan and they will say that they loved:Voltron, Robotech, Battle of the Planets, StarBlazers, Bubblegum Crisis and Akira

a fan of the 70's (or earlier) would have said: Speed racer, astro boy, Gigantor and Kimba the white lion.

do you notice the trend? the earlier you go back the less anime there was aired in the us!

we should all be grateful for what we have now! I know i am. we all now have a freedom to see (or too much to see) pretty much anything we can imagine!

so in about a couple of years when our little siblings get older they are going to say....

Gee, what about the anime from the 10's were they good or what?

I'm not even 21 yet and i know exactly where your coming from. I didn't know it was called "Anime", or that it was from "Japan" untill post 2000. Though I remember watching "My neighbor totoro" when I was like 5, "Princess mononoke" when I was around 8. I really started getting into it late 1999 when I first got discovered toonami, for whatever reason, I never saw the first couple of years for toonami.

I had never even fathomed using the "Computer" to watch anime till like 2004 where I first learnt about bittorrent and downloading anime to the computer. Not long later In 05, my friend introduced me to youtube, which had just surfaced, and I then learned the ease of "streaming anime".

Now half the people who watch anime think it's always been this easy.

yeah...90's anime are great..it has great stories...but the graphics back then was not that good...

You make it sound like anime's suppose to be a video game. Anime is either done on Cell shading, "1999 and earlier mostly", or all digital shopwork" "2000 - 2009"

I wouldn't say that is was BETTER. Some good stuff has come out in the 2000s, like Monster and Hellsing. The 90s was when I was first getting into anime so a lot of the anime have more of an emotional connection for me I'd say more than the quality of the art/story was better.
