Watching anime when you're older?
Posted 7/12/09
In response to the modreports on this thread:
I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate. The link given on the first page is a poll and seeing as I haven't yet managed to find one similar enough to this I'm keeping this open until I find the original thread.

And to stay on topic, I've pretty much stopped watching anime already and I doubt I'll be able to find time to do it in 10 years time.

I have been watching anime off and on for over 20 years. When satellite dishes first came out (there where two bands, but the first was the C-band) you could control the HUGE 12 foot dish and point it at several different satellites. You could get raw feeds and there was no encryption being used on all the channels. And even though I never understood a single word of the broadcast, it was a blast watching some of the raw satellite feeds. Everything was done on VHS so it was nearly impossible to get subbed shows and it was never complete, only an episode or movie here or there. I had family who were stationed in Japan, so sometimes we'd get some tapes in the mail that had some shows recorded.

If you want to see something from about 17 years back, check out Den`ei Shoujo Video Girl Ai. It's been been redone and you can get a torrent download of it from www.bakabt.com (former Boxtorrents).

I'm now in my 40's and enjoy anime even more. I never get tired of it. And I also spend time introducing others to anime. It's so much easier to obtain unlicensed subbed material. And now I'd rather watch anime than most anything else that is on TV.

What will most people do? Some will, some won't, so what! I certainly enjoy it and will continue to watch and build my collection of anime. This Spring provided some great shows, and now this some has some very interesting candidates.

Life's too short to not have fun and too long to be miserable. Have fun and watch anime!

The new season dose look good, hell they just released, 'Ookami To Koushinryou 2nd Series', Spice and Wolf, about 3 days ago. I've been doing anime since the mid / late 70's. Started out with, (oh my god I can't believe I'm saying this), 'Speed Racer'. My brother and I use to turn the volume down and do our own voice overs. It got better in the 80's, things like Akira, and G.I.T.S. Anyway, I'm taking my kids, (all 4 of them), to Mechacon 5, in 2 weeks. I've met a lot of friends over the years and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I am otaku!! = ) Oh yea, your right, you do tend to acquire a lot of sh*t over the years. and this is an old pix. = )

the day I stop watching anime is the day they stop making it, or I go blind one of the 2.

The person who started this topic needs to study a bit harder to improve their punctuation and spelling.

But I will continue to watch anime that interests me.
