Application for: Drama
Why are you interested in doing this?: dramas are like part of my life. If I don't watch a drama for over a day, I will go crazy (well not extremely). I've watched Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and some Thai. Usually I finish 1-2 dramas each day, since I have a lot of time and usually multitask.
Sample: Wel I usually give reviews orally to my friends and people in my class when I finished a drama to encourage them to watch it. I have written summaries in claclasses about movies. I used to start a magazine in 8th grade, it was successful, but we had to cancel it due to shortage on staff (hopefully the Crunchyroller is very successful)

I'm on the computer all the time and I only have 3 half days of school left, so it won't be a problem. The whole summer is totally free. I don't go to work, so I think this is the closest job I get (if I get applied).

Application for: Interviews or articles!
Why are you interested in doing this? It's actually something I'm very interesting in doing professionally, so getting the chance to do it in a relaxed and extremely fun setting would give me valuable practice. Not to mention I have a lot of fun doing it, and I've got some experience to back me up! I would include reviews, but I don't think I watch enough/pay enough attention in my current RL state, so I'll leave that to the people who have passionate opinions to express.

A Sample- It's sad that I have a copy of EVERY issue of the Stentorian (school newspaper) with my writing in the drawer beside me, but none of you can see them! Oh, well. I can dig something up. Keep in mind this article was written for newspaper. Magazine-type editing tends to be more feature-y and less blah-dee-blah.

Here's the most recent one I had published... although it's not that great.

FABRICATION LAB ARTICLE
by [[Kyonkichi]]

A group of alumni raised a fund of $350,000 for the construction of a fabrication lab on the NCSSM campus. Speculation for the location of the fabrication lab has recently focused on the Assembly Hall, a popular venue for student activities like Koffeehaus.

This year marked the beginning of the engineering program at NCSSM. Many students have already taken advantage of the new course offering, Principles of Engineering, in addition to classes like robotics that have been available. The engineering class in particular emphasizes first-hand application of math and science to solve problems.

Even with the resources provided by the ground reynolds robotics lab, engineering classes are limited by the lack of space and equipment.

“We don’t have the machinery we need,” said senior Jennifer Peeler, who is involved with the robotics team.

The alumni who presented the fund specifically stated its purpose as being for the construction of a fabrication lab.

“They would like to see students have more experience with hands-on learning,” said Chancellor Gerald Boarman. Discussion as to where the fabrication lab will be built is still on the table; preference leans away from the Assembly Hall because of student use and other limitations, but the possibility has been highlighted.

The fabrication lab would essentially provide four different services, according to the Engineering instructor Paul Menchini: a wood shop, a metal shop, a plastics forming lab, and a 3d printer that would enable students to make certain visions a reality. For classes like engineering, in which students are given problems and must build solutions, the fabrication lab would provide an essential resource.

“Without such a facility, you can’t do certain types of learning,” Menchini said.

Students have mixed reactions to the news. “I know if there had been a metal working course this year, I would have definitely signed up for it.” said senior Kathleen Hebert. “However, if it was at the cost of the Chiba, I would have been far less enthusiastic."
“A fabrication lab is a great idea, and should be incorporated into the plans of the Discovery Center. It would offer a place for students to go to build just about anything.” said junior Austin Page.

The fabrication lab is still it its pre-planning stages along with the Discovery Center. Possible locations included the Hunt Classroom and the Assembly Hall, but the ideal location would be inside the new discovery center. The decision about where to put the fabrication lab will not be final until a decision comes through on the funding.

Position: Featured Anime

Why am I interested in this?
Because I adore Anime ^^;
Anime has been my so-called "anti-drug" for many years now, and it would be an honor (yes, an honor) to rate, review, or partake in anything I could be useful for, in this section. Sharing the emotion that certain Anime can provide a viewer, with all other crunchyroll users, would be beneficial to its eventual, hypothetical world domination (can't you imagine this? xD). Otakus, Hikikomoris and NEETs -- unite! ^^;;
In any case - I'd really enjoy contributing to ~The Crunchyroller~, and making it a really enjoyable "forum-paper" to read.

Sample
I have many pieces that may be suitable for this... if there is any in particular that you'd like to have a look at, please let me know ^^;

(Side Note: I hope it will be fine if I start near the end of June [if I am granted a position ^^], as finals are coming up)

Application for articles

-REason.: well ive taken a liking to reading forums for any interesting little tid bits, focusing more on people's political views and even some of the fun threads. But i really like people's opinions; clashing my ideas upon others' is a sure fire way to test my mettle. but of course i will try to keep an unbiased view point with whatever i write..not gonna shoot for another O reilly (for all those that actually read through the thread haha). in addition, id try and write something a little more global from time to time. and i believe this isn't a one person job. there are plenty of people here that should write an article. there should be an opinions section hahaha.

-Sample: err rain check? PM me a topic to write about.

edit: i can give anime and music a shot as well, though im not as well versed as many others in this site.

FREELANCE i love it. i dont feel so pressured anymore.

why not...crunchypolitan lol
Posted 5/19/07
Application for; Freelance writer &/or Graphics/Layout Design.

Why;
So, freelance... I enjoy researching new topics, this would give me a chance to impart my knowledge to others (poor them) and to learn new stuff myself in the process. I also would enjoy having the freedom of not being tied to producing an article every month/week/quarter.

Graphics/Layout... basically I am an aesthetics perfectionist, also I read a large number of magazines and newspapers of different "genres" already, so I have exposure to type-setting and column styles... I would most likely produce a general template and paste in the articles to save time, rather than re-formatting everything each time.

Could you put in a games/crossword compiler job, I would be interested in producing my own cryptic crossword puzzles and seeing whether anyone could figure them out...

Samples;
s_j_b will already have seen my "daily answers", however here's an example of my writing (this was for school);

A comment upon the use of language in William Blake's "London";

“London” is strewn with words with dual meanings. These are often two opposed meanings, one abstract and one concrete, one invisible and one visible. An example of this occurs in the first line in which Blake uses “chartered” to refer to London’s streets and the river Thames, chartered refers to both having been mapped, a concrete idea, and also to being under control of law and jurisdiction, and abstract concept which connotes oppression. A further example in the first stanza is that of the “marks” of “woe and weakness”, marks can be both physical and mental. Blake implies that these are both the case and that these marks are the results of such deprivation as he has been seeing. In addition to further examples of there are many other uses of language to appeal to the reader’s empathy, one such feature is Blake’s tone, he uses informal language through much of the poem. This helps the reader feel more in tune with the lives of the people on the streets and with Blake’s own feelings.

- Yes, I know I use ambiguous language sometime... this was rushed, I could probably tone down the language if required to make it lighter reading.

I support kyonkichi in her application, reason; Awesome Use Of Paragraphing... no really, it makes it so easy to read!

Position Applying for: Interviews

I am writing right now as a public affairs personnel for a mining company. Aside from the fact that I have been writing for almost ALL my life, I really have a heart for writing. I write just about everything, features, news articles, and even blogs.

Why I want to do this:

I am a people person. I get along with just about anybody, from the security guard of the company I'm working right now, to the president of our company, and I can even get along pretty well with little kids. I am a communications major, so I guess I can communicate well .

If this aren't enough reasons, just what I've said, I am writing for the company I am working right now. I am under the public affairs department, I write press releases, news releases, blogs for the company, and I also get to edit articles submitted by some of our employees for our company newsletter.

If you like a sample article, we published it online on our site. (I don't know if I could just give it right away, company policies)

As for how much time I can devote for this, I am the kind of person who never gets to sleep at all. I can do my regular job during office hours (8am-5pm), then as soon as I get home, I can take care of Crunchyroll stuff. I know I have low cr points, no guestbook entry at all, no buddies, though I have already been a member since November of last year. I have really been busy since I was new to the company, so I really had to impress the people there. Now that everything's fine, I can do what I love, which is writing for the site that I love.

I consider writing as a big part of my life; I consider crunchyroll as the most entertaining video streaming slash anime site ever. If I could hit two birds with one stone, the best way to do it is write for Crunchyroll. I consider this not as an additional work load, but another venue for expressing myself, hear other people's insights, basically, have fun!
