~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~ Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who chaired the Pakistan Peoples Party, a centre-left political party in Pakistan affiliated to the Socialist International. Bhutto was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, having been twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was sworn in for the first time in 1988 but removed from office 20 months later under orders of then-president Ghulam Ishaq Khan on grounds of alleged corruption. In 1993 Bhutto was re-elected but was again removed in 1996 on similar charges, this time by President Farooq Leghari.
Bhutto went into self-imposed exile in Dubai in 1998, where she remained until she returned to Pakistan on 18 October 2007, after reaching an understanding with President Musharraf by which she was granted amnesty and all corruption charges were withdrawn.
She was the eldest child of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, a Pakistani of Sindhi descent, and Begum Nusrat Bhutto, a Pakistani of Iranian-Kurdish descent. Her paternal grandfather was Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto, who came to Larkana Sindh before partition from his native town of Bhatto Kalan, which was situated in the Indian state of Haryana.
REAL STORY: (MEDICAL REPORTS)(READ THIS BEFORE SAYING ANYTHING!
http://www.crunchyroll.com/showforumtopic?id=53461&pg=8#5606821
She was assassinated on 27 December 2007, in a combined suicide bomb attack and shooting during a political rally of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Liaquat National Bagh in Rawalpindi. Ex-government spokesman Tariq Azim Khan said that, although it appeared that she had been shot, it was unclear whether her wounds had been caused by a shooting or shrapnel from the bomb. Eyewitnesses to the assassination stated to various news agencies that Ms. Bhutto had stood up through the sunroof of her Landcruiser to wave at supporters who were cheering her. It is then that a "thin man" on a motorcycle shot her in the neck with an AK-47 rifle. After this, he proceeded to blow himself up which resulted in the deaths of at least 16 of her supporters, many sustained injuries. Bhutto was rushed to Rawalpindi General Hospital where she died at 6:16 p.m. PST (1316 UTC). The gunshot to the neck was reported as the cause of death, according to the Pakistani Interior Ministry.
~ Bhutto was already threatened by many terrorist leaders, including Bin Ladin, but she stated that "She was ready to take the risks for the Pakistani people." One Ironic thing is, she was killed at where another Prime Minister was assassinated.
~ Bush stated that it was a cowardly act of the extremist who didnt want democracy, He also stated that Bhutto was a good leader and a good person. He also requested Musharaff that Bhutto should be honored.
~ I also confirmed about the email, it was showed in CNN Situation room about her email to a friend that was sent to Wolf, the email stated that Musharaf's failure to secure her life was to be blamed if something happened to her.
~ What do you think will happen to Pakistan? What are your opinions about this? Do you think that it was the security's fault for her death? Or What? Do you think of her as someone to be remembered or not? Why?
IF YOU DONT CARE, WALK AWAY AND NEVER POST IN THIS THREAD. I ALSO SUGGEST GETTING A "LIFE" AND A WORKING "BRAIN" WHILE YOUR AT IT! ALSO, THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR FLAMING, NOR SPAMMING, BUT FOR THE DISCUSSION AND THE MOURNING OF A MEMORABLE WOMAN, WHO RISKED HER LIFE FOR HER PEOPLE AND FOR HER BELIEF! STUPID ARGUMENTS ARE MAKING THIS THREAD STUPID INSTEAD OF CONCERNED, AND ENTHUSIASTIC!
We read about her at School.
Is it for sure that it`s Musharaff who killed her?
Her father was also murdered?
Whether it was Musharaff or not, this will cause a major chaos in Pakistan especially since it's chaotic enough already =\
This is the first I heard of it. I don't know enough about Pakistani politics to have an opinion about what it will do to the country. It is terrible that she and others near her were murdered like this. From what I read in mikomiko123's post and one of the links provided, it sound like she was a very brave and courageous leader.
There isn't enough information to attribute fault or blame to security. After all, if some fanatic is really determined to kill a leader, it is very difficult to stop him (and i said him on purpose because I have never heard of a woman doing this). Even US Presidents have been assassinated in the past, and they probably have the best security in the world.
People that has a vision of peace and democracy, people who knows and deems about the future of the world, people who is concerned of politics that is going corrupted in many parts of the world, people who doesn't want this world to end with a blasphemed reputation, and for people who are actually smart enough to post in this thread!
Pakistan is already a mess as it is, and now this,
I think Al Qaeda, or some other terrorist group are behind this.
Very Sad indeed.
That was one of the concerns, Wolf Blitzer said that the security shouldve been toughened because of the past attempts to kill her, and the car with the sun window, or whatever you call that was Bhutto's car which enable her to pop up and be exposed, and also, her car was not armored enough, so it was mostly because of security miscalculations too, I deem.
What happened was like Pres. Kennedy's Assassination, and people say that the car that Bhutto used was not a good car for security, and Wolf also said that she knew the risks, so its like a paradox that if it is the security's fault. I am also hearing right now about an email from her, before she died. I also think that she was a brave and courageous leader.
