This is a compiled list of legal Anime streaming and downloading sites.
I will try to keep this list as accurate and updated as possible. Thanks for looking and enjoy. Quick notes about these sites: - Many of these services are only available to the North American audience due to regional licensing restrictions.. - All the streaming sites, unless otherwise noted, offer free viewing of their content. - If an episode is available for download, usually a nominal fee is required, about $1.99. Streaming Sites: [adult swim]: adultswim.com - This site doesn't have an accumulative collection of the series' episodes. They typically stream what episode is going to be aired on their time block. - All series are in English. ANIME NETWORK: TheAnimeNetwork.com - A registered account is required to access the series. Most series are subjected to a subscription fee, which is $6.95 a month. - Available on the iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad for $6.99. Price includes a month subscription. ANIMENEWSNETWORK: AnimeNewsNetwork.com - Mostly stuff from Bandai, Crunchyroll, and FUNimation. This is more like an embedded site, but they do host some videos. - Have partnered with Aniplex USA to launch their first simulcasts, Oreimo and Togainu no Chi. Anime on Demand: Anime-on-Demand.com - An extension of ANIMENEWSNETWORK that caters to the UK audience. - Monthly and annual memberships available. ANIMETV: GoAnimeTV.com STATUS PENDING - A webcast show that is dedicated to reviewing the latest anime and sharing random stuff about asian pop culture. - Last updated on 26. Aug, 2010. This webcast has possibly been canceled. Cartoon Network: CartoonNetwork.com - All they have really is Pokémon and Bakugan. CRACKLE: Crackle.com - Sony Pictures Entertainment Company's video site. - Their latest venture is the Anime Overdrive Collection, which will launch a new anime every Monday until 2011. A listing of what they will be getting can be found here. - They also have a ANIMAX channel. crunchyroll: Crunchyroll.com - Basic membership lets the user view almost everything for free, but there is a week waiting period for most of the newer content. - The site requires a Star/Premium Membership for as low as $4.99/month to use some of it’s features like “advanced” viewing, 480p or “720p” "quality," and to access some of it’s contents. - Available on iPhone/iPod Touch, iPad, Facebook, and Boxee. Compatibility with Android devices is in the works. - Video Release Calander. Dailymotion: crunchyroll Channel, Dailymotion.com/crunchyroll ViZ Channel, Dailymotion.com/group/vmanime - Videos are either embedded from Crunchyroll or Hulu, respectively. Disney XD: Disney.go.com - Only has one of their latest run of Naruto Shippuden. FANCAST: Fancast.com - Being renamed xfinity TV - Comcast Corp.'s VOD website - They have their own video player, but they get most of their anime content from hulu. FUNIMATION: FUNimation.com *FUNimation Download-To-Own Video Store *Veoh Channel - Shows update weekly. - Some of the videos are hulu embedded. - Episodes are available for download for $1.99. - Their Video-Based Social Networking site (formally known as Shodojo.com) is finally up on the Internet. The beta site can be found here. hulu: Hulu.com - Like that of regular T.V. shows, there will be the "occasional" commercial breaks. - Most videos are either 360p or 480p quality. A 720p (anime?) video option is available to huluPLUS subscribers. - huluPLUS is available for $7.99 a month. They are no longer beta status. - NEC BIGLOBE, Ltd today announced the launch of their new digital bookstore Android app, "SUGOI BOOKS." It launched with 100 authentic manga series translated into English. Their goal is to reach 50,000 manga books by the end of 2012. * I will not add this to the list as it relates to manga, not anime. NTT Docomo, Bitway (with help from Crunchyroll), and Itochu are also planning to launch their own e-book services. November 2010 Spoiler Alert! Or does the 720p only apply to the new tv seasons they have? 11/12/2010 - CRACKLE Launches The ANIME OVERDRIVE COLLECTION, one new anime series every week 'till 2011 - Updated the Crackle listing with the new anime link and added details. - Dailymotion brings Crunchyroll's Top Asian Content to its Global Audience - Added Dailymotion to the list - Updated Otaku Magazine listing. They no longer cycle through anime videos with every issue, but instead embed most anime found at video portals such as Crunchyroll and hulu. - Aniplex will allow the streaming of Oreimo and Togainu no Chi on ANN despite the leak last month. - Funimation is giving the first episode of a few anime away for free on iTunes for a limited time. - Funimations supposed launch of a new video site last month never happened. My feelings would not be hurt. 9/15/2010 - 4Kids Launches Toonzaki Anime Streaming Site - Added Toonzaki - Fixed tv.com's hyperlink so that it only pulls up shows with episodes online - All video's on gaia have been removed "due to what can only be described as a total lack of interest." 9/9/2010 - Added the YouTube channels NOZOMI ENTERTAINMENT and Viz Media - For some time now, Funimation's website has started embedding hulu videos into their player. Update 6/8/2010: ignore this post. i would delete it if i could (to lazy to get a mod). a year ago it was a reply to the user zendude, whom started this thread and was asking me to take care of it for him. He nuked his account shortly after and now for some reason out of the blue his post got deleted today. maybe a mod did this.... i dunno. . . . . now i have triple post, "yay." boy, that was a 'long winded' explanation and not really necessary. well, if you're still reading this it's yodf because u didn't heed my advice to ignore this post

This is not the only instance of a user compiling a list of legal sources online. Many similar attempts have been made on other sites and forums. So I am not alone.
BTW, this thread is a continuation from the original that has plenty of hidden goodies in it as well from contributors. This list is not perfect nor complete, but it is still a nice reference. -moose |

By the way, I like this list better because it is colorful. Although, some of the urls need to be fixed because they are so long and look awful. If I were you, I'd probably update the link on ANN from the old thread to this one. |
