For me it was 'mahou' which means 'magic'. I learnt it from the opening for 'maburaho'

itadakimas <<<<< I think that's how it's spelt ... it's a word used before eating a meal in japan. ( sort of like " TIME TO EAT!")

The first word I learned from anime? "No". Which is a word which denotes belonging to. So like "the" or "of" or "from the".
Kind of a boring first word, huh?

After that, "itadakimasu", which I'm not exactly sure translates perfectly into English--but is used before eating. Wonderfully appropriate considering my massive appetite.
