hmm... Itekimas(sp?) (ill be leaving?), itterashai (sp?)(have a safe trip?), ta dai ma (sp?)(im back?), itadakimasu (some blessing before eating food)... I know there are more but i forgot them... like "sorry for the intrusion", "thanks for the food", etc... all the common words that show up in pretty much every anime.

Others include different versions of sorry, thank you, stupid (baka, bakemono), pervert, shut up and some others.

I'm pretty sure that most of us have watched more than just a couple of different animes, so i was just wondering what is the first japanese word you learned by watching? for me, it was oyasumi which means "good night"...now i try to use it as much as i can...haha...what about you?

watashi which means "I".

But now, I've learned a lot of words. From greetings to honorifics to well, most things but you know what i've learned by watching anime?

I've actually learned how to write hiragana and katakana(the simple by syllables letter of japanese) and not only how to write but also how to read them so now, if I see japanese words, I can read them even a little(transliteration only not translation unless I have found out what the word meant then I can translate it).
