The popularity of idol group 2PM has skyrocketed since their debut on September 2008, thanks to hit songs like “10 Out of 10″ and “Again & Again”, as well as appearances on variety shows, where they openly displayed their dorky yet lovable personalities. Mnet’s first episode of Wild Bunny led to an overwhelming response from viewers and off the chart ratings.

People just can’t seem to get enough of these seven cuties, and that includes even celebrities. See what stars like Lee Hyori, Solbi, and Chaeyeon have been saying about the current darlings of k-pop:

When asked what they attribute their popularity to, leader Jaebeom answered, “We have no typical style like other idol groups, and I think we appeal to fans by not worrying about our individual images and just playing, talking, and dancing as we feel like it on stage. It seems like our fans call us ‘animal idols’ because of our barbaric personalities.”

Fellow member Junsu replied, “I think there are a lot of fans who like us for directly saying things and just saying everything we want to say on shows.” Thailand-American member Nichkhun added, “I feel like that’s why the fans think we’re sexier.”

And sexy they most certainly are. Out of the celebrity comments, I definitely relate to Chaeyeon’s comment the most. Oh, 2PM…you make our hearts sh-sh-shake.

2 idol groups So Nyeo Shi Dae and 2PM will be remaking the song ‘In the Summer’ by hip hop duo famous back in the 90s Deux (Lee HyunDo and late Kim SeongJae).

The song was released in 1994, with this fun and enjoyable rhythm and cool atmosphere of the song, it has been remade by many artistes during summer performances.

With that So Nyeo Shi Dae members Yuri, HyoYeon, Sunny, YooA, SooYoung and SeoHyun woll be performing the song ‘In the Summer’ live on MBC Music Core on 1st August.

And also, group 2PM members TaekYeon and WooYoung will be performing this song as well on SBS Inkigayo on 2nd August.

2PM’s Wooyoung Hypnotized Without Consent?


Beef is going down between 2PM fans and the producers of SBS Star King.

The August 1st episode of Star King, as part of its summer special, used hypnosis to show "the best studying method." 2PM member Wooyoung was on the show and was chosen from the panel to be hypnotized. Fans who attended the show's filming later commented that even though Wooyoung showed objection to the idea of being hypnotized, filming continued anyway. Hypnosis was still performed on him, upsetting many fans who later complained on the show's online boards.

Angry fans responded with comments like "Hypnotizing somebody without their consent is the same as attacking them," and "Do celebrities not have rights?"

In the clip below, the hypnosis activities start at around 1:18. While the hypnosis was being done, Wooyoung expressed that he was scared and that it felt like someone was holding up his arm. Watching this segment made me feel extremely uneasy, especially starting at 2:55 when he suddenly lost his balance and fell over before fellow group member Nichkhun rushed over to catch him. Wooyoung commented after the show that he had trouble speaking during the ordeal.

2PM member, Nichkhun has a smile that brightens everything. Having him sitting right in front of them with sweet smile, people couldn’t help but to be gleeful as well.
Easily noticeable due to his distinct height and soft appearance. Khun is Thai-American. He said “I was walking on the streets in the U.S. and unintentionally got casted” Although he still have difficulties pronouncing Korean correctly, he surprised me by saying a couple of difficult words.

What kind of person is Nichkhun?
“2PM’s entertainer. Because of my optimistic personality so I try to smile frequently and it seems like I’m a buffer zone between members too.”

How did you become a singer?
“I was walking on the streets and unexpectedly got casted in an entertainment agency. I did both performance and acting but nothing was good so I received much maltreatment. I couldn’t dance or act. (laughs) The memory of not wanting to take anymore harsh words, I practiced dancing and singing alone at night is still vivid in my memory. Then I moved to JYP”

Between an actor and a singer, which one is Nichkhun suitable for?
“Probably an actor. But I’m a member of 2PM and working as singer. I’m trying to be born again as more respectable singer.”

I think that my charm is…
“Whatever I do, I do it hard. I won’t be frustrated after receiving wounds and will bravely stand up. What do you call that thing? Right, a tumbling doll.”

Well then weak point?
“Similar to Wooyoung. I often get too serious and I’m a type of keeping my worries to myself only”

What do you usually do at 2 P.M?
“Working on variety shows. Haha”

How do you take care of your body?
“Unlike the other members, because I won’t get fat so I’m trying to put on some weight. I even make an effort to eat much and rest well.”

Baek Ji-Young will be doing her summer promotions with performance boyband 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon.

Baek, who is releasing a mini-album on the coming 13th, is said to have plans to stand onstage with Ok Taecyeon for her title song, ‘Candy To My Ears’.

Taecyeon will be featuring his voice, as well as appearing in her music video and performing onstage. He is a newcomer to the media, who has already attracted many fans with his masculine looks and strong voice.

Baek Ji-young’s management company, WS Music revealed that “Ok Taecyeon is perfect for the job, as he has the ability to draw fans with his manly charms and powerful charisma when performing onstage”.

‘Candy To My Ears’ falls under the ‘European Electropop’ category, and has a heavy ‘clubbing’ feel. Baek Ji-young is well known for her ballad hits, however the song will re-introduce her as a dance queen.

Meanwhile Baek Ji-young’s mini-album will be released in online and offline stores on the 13th.

It has been about 2 weeks since JYP performance group 2PM ended their 2:00PM Time For Change minialbum, netizens have become interested in the title song ‘Again & Again’ all over again.

A netizen posted up the video of singer Envy’s ‘Shawty Dangerous’ and points to the accusation that 2PM’s ‘Again & Again’ is a plagiarism of the song.

It has also been said that Envy’s ‘Shawty Dangerous’ was released in February 2009 while 2PM’s ‘Again & Again’ was released in April 2009.

Some netizens just found the background rhythm similar while others thought it is plagiarism. Fans are also responding on noticeboards discussing this to protect the boys.

My say, it doesn’t matter. ‘Again & Again’ was such a hit in Korea, and nothing can be done to undo that.

Recently there has been many complaints about SBS Star King on the episode aired on 1st August. On the show, they introduced hypnotizing as the ‘best studying method’ and had 2PM member WooYoung hypnotized on the show.

Even though WooYoung has rejected to be hypnotized, he was eventually hypnotized and after the process, he said that that he was not able to speak. Fans and viewers were angry and had taken their complaints to the noticeboard on the show’s website.

They were angry that WooYoung was hypnotized without consent. And on 3rd August, the show revealed their stand on the incident.


They wrote on their official site, “There seems to be some misunderstanding on the show aired on 1st August about using hypnotizing on the show, and the production team would like to explain.”

“It is true that hypnosis will help the students with their concentration in students as part of the summer school break special on the show, we had invited NLP program which uses this technique and had helped many students increase their concentration when studying.”

“The 50 plus students who were invited on the show had their parents’ consent to be on it and teacher in charge of the hypnotizing has decided that to do hands-on experiment during the show.”

About about hypnotizing entertainers on the show, “We explained the process of the hypnotizing to the entertainers on the show. There will be no effect on the mental aspect of the people after hypnotizing.”

“WooYoung has also revealed that he was not forced into hypnotising when he said that he was scared of hypnosis and had said that he can’t speak after it.”

“There is some misunderstanding on the group hypnotizing process since the production edited out the part of the filming which features the students waking up from hypnosis, everyone was fine.”

While the horde of girl groups are going about their mix and match special, there will be something planned for fangirls as well this Sunday on SBS Inkigayo as they aim to make sure that all their viewers regardless of sex are entertained.

To coincide with Inkigayo’s Summer Break Special, current MCs and 2PM members, Wooyoung and Taecyeon will link up with SHINee members, Key and Taemin for a project called Project Girl Group. Notice a question mark black silhouette member standing in the middle of of the picture above? Well, that’s a mystery member and a way to build up the hype ahead of this Sunday’s performance. And they will be performing SNSD’s latest chart hit, Tell Me Your Wish (Genie).

7 males group 2PM will have a special meeting with teenagers.
Breaking the existing image of idol as a character in girls’ comics, 2PM rocks nuna fans’ hearts with ‘Beasts Idols’ charm now they now try to capture teen fans’ ones.

2PM members will turn themselves into guides and take young boys and girls on tour at JYP center for their vacation season on this coming 11.
There’ll be 10 lucky persons who will be able to attend this special meeting. The activity is a joint program of JYP entertainment and Inet School. Without any particular publicity, this has received numerous responses from teenagers.

Contrary to the expectation of schoolgirls’ overwhelming responses, 1 out of 2.3 schoolgirls is a schoolboy, which means the popularity of 2PM has increased beyond genders.
Lucky winners will get a chance to tour around JYP center under the guidance of 2PM and to learn dancing and singing directly from the members. There’ll also be times for an audition simulation and a talk with members.

2PM made a debut with ’10 out of 10’ last year and came back with 2 big hits; Again and again, I hate you. Now they’re rising in another path of this industry; variety shows, MCs and DJs.
Their huge popularity is not only in Korea but also overseas such as Thailand etc., they’re now sailing for best male idol group.

2NE1 will take up the challenge of being the real Big Bang.

Known as the female Big Bang, 2NE1 will be performing Big Bang’s hit song from 2007 ‘Last Farewell’ on SBS Inkigayo on 9th August.

They will be performing with their own colours and style, as a girl group with a fresh feeling choreography set, putting up another stylish performance.

Also on Inkigayo that day, there will be a girl group special where So Nyeo Shi Dae, 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls, 4Minute and KARA will be having joint stages and a special VTR ‘The Chitchat of the girls’.

Also SHINee Key and TaeMin, and 2PM Wooyoung and TaekYeon will come together with another secret member to perform So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Tell Me Your Wish’. FT Island and KARA will also be performing rock versions f their song.

Brown Eyed Girls and 4Minute will be performing a cross dance performance, and it will be the last performance of So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ on that episode.

It appears that Star Golden Bell has taken a cue from music shows MBC Music Core and SBS Inkigayo: throw a bunch of idol groups together, and us fans will eat it up. The August 15th edition of Star Golden Bell is an idol special, featuring members from SHINee, SNSD, 2PM, and Kara.

That just might be the most action-packed preview I’ve ever seen. From SHINee doing the trademark hacky-sack dance of “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)” alongside SNSD, to Wooyoung & Chansung providing us with some ssanti dance, to Taecyeon’s classic jaw-swipe from the “I Hate You” choreography (complete with female imitators), to Onew’s comical imitation of Jonghyun’s unique singing voice, to Seungyeon’s rendition of Taecyeon’s hunky sunglasses removal (a lot of Taecyeon, eh?), to Yoona reaching maximum adorable levels, this episode looks like it has the potential to be one of those Korean variety shows you will always remember (and I apologize for the Hawthorne-esque length of that sentence).

2PM TaekYeon has good popularity amongst noona singers recently.

He has received love calls for featuring acts for singers Baek Ji Young and Bada. On the 10th, the teaser MV to Baek Ji Young’s mini album ‘EGO’ title song ‘Candy to My Ears’ was revealed, and in the MV teaser features TaekYeon with sexy diva Baek Ji Young.

Bada, who is recently back with her 4th album has also invited TaekYeon to do featuring for her album. TaekYeon was featured in the song ‘Yes I’m in Love’ in the album.

TaekYeon had revealed, “I’ve adored Bada noona from young, and when I received a phone call from her, it was like a dream come true.” While Bada said, “With TaekYeon’s rapping, I had one of the best songs produced.”

Meanwhile, Baek Ji Young will be peforming together with TaekYeon for her comeback stages on MBC Music Core on 15th August.

Cool member Yuri has picked 2PM JaeBum as her ideal type of guy.

Cool members were on KBS Joy ‘Flower Boy Carriage’ recently. And Yuri asked, “Is there any idol who had captured your heart?”. She answered, “Recently 2PM JaeBum has caught my eyes. Normally idols are cute and pretty style but JaeBum is very manly and built, and that is charming – my ideal type right-on.”

MC Shin JungHwan said, “If JaeBum were to ask you out on the spot, will you?”. Yuri answered coolly, “Of course”. But on the other hand when Yuri was asked, “Is there style you like from Lee JaeHoon, Kim SeongSoo and Yoon JungSoo?”, Yuri were unable to answer but just burst into laughters.

The show will be aired on 13th August at 11.10pm.

2PM and 2AM has come together to form ‘Dirty Eyed Girls’ parodying idol female group Brown Eyed Girls.

The 2 groups came together recently on Mnet Wild Bunny to do parody on Brown Eyed Girls. There are plans for ‘Dirty Eyed Girls’ to sing and even redo the MV to Brown Eyed Girls‘ ‘Abracadabra’.

A preview to the parody making was also released online receiving overwhelming responses from netizens.

Known to be the worst dresser in 2PM, member TaekYeon was put in charge as the group’s stylist for this parody, and 2PM’s youngest member ChanSung will be the sexy image taking over Brown Eyed Girls GaIn’s place in the group.

Much anticipation is to how the parody will turn out.
