Is it true it hurts when you dye your hair all the way to the roots? O: I've highlighted my hair a couple times, but I've never had them all the way to the roots, so it didn't hurt. But I've heard from some people that it hurts when they dye their hair, but I dunno whether they were exaggerating or not.

Physically, no, it's not painful - although bleaching your hair sometimes irritates your scalp and causes it to itch. It does however damage your hair. I've been dying my hair for about 8 years now. My hair is NOWHERE as damaged as his is, but I do use an awful lot of conditioner and regularly get my hair trimmed so that all the damaged ends are gone.
