So recently I was discussing with my roommate about when we just break down and buy a game. The original question was, what makes a game suddenly worth it? I personally have one major condition for at least buying a game and that is if a game has 3 games in it. Of course this does not apply to sports games. However, a good example is the Jak and Daxter series or the Ratchet and Clank Series. My condition is when a game has 3 or more games in a series it is either a fantastic series or it is a terrible series. And that has always sort of been the case. Sadly this means I might have to wait a few years before I try a game. However, you can only take so many $50-$60 purchases that are a complete waste of money.

I also have a lesser condition that if a game is only between $10 and $5, based on the gerne, what do I have to lose? I mean I guess it is just a being independent thing however, $5 to $10 does not seem like that much out of me. I mean most of the crappy games I have bought are cheaper than a movie and give me twice as much entertainment. While the rules on what exactly qualifies for $10 and what qualifies for $5 is still up in the air I some how manage to figure it out.

Anyway, what kind of conditions do you guys use to decide a game is worth buying or not?

All i care about is the gameplay, not the graphics.
i.e the old mario, sonic, and zelda games back then, they had not-so good graphics like the ones today but the gameplay was awesome.

I usually buy a game on the week which it is released only if I have been anticipating it. If not, I would just wait till the price lowers , but the only problem is if they will refill the stock for some games, usually anime based video games are not refilled if u wait to long.

Well price for games are little too crazy now... back in the days they were affordable so I use to buy tons but now there quite expensive, so I'm quite selective on what games to buy. They either have to get awesome reviews or friends telling me its worth getting.

When I have the money to buy

~ Price of the game is important first & when I have the funds
~ Quality of the game
~ Playability (difficulty & controlling wise)
~ Not to big on music, as long as they don't repeat the same song over & over like they're on a bad budget
~ Not too big on graphics either
~ Fun Factor (will I have fun playing it & play it again)
