The night was cold and crisp, the wind blew violently against the carriage. Inside the neatly decorated cabin was Alicandra Farwick and her butler Ciel Llywellyn. But tonight the couple wasn't mistress and servant, but rather Guardian and weapon. On the fair haired duchess's face was fading bruises and healing cuts. Her hand had was bandaged and her cascade of platinum blond hair was ruffled. In front of her, Ciel was smoothing out his attire, he seemed more or less in one piece. Silence carried their conversation as they awaited arrival at headquarters.

"Does it still hurt?" Alicandra's small voice asked, her eyes were somewhere else but Ciel could see regret inked heavily into her eyes.

"Of course not. I'm a weapon to use at your disposal, my lady- I only regret that you sprained your hand, while wielding me."

Alicandra looked down at the wrapped up hand, as if she hardly notice it. "I'll take it as punishment for loosing so many men- we underestimated our opponent." Her voice was expressionless, though her eyes told another story.

The conversation ended, Ciel stared out the glassy window as Alicandra curled up against the uncomfortable wall. Her sleeping face was still as guarded as it is awake.

Michiyo was sitting in the air reading her book. She was engaged in her own world as usual and did not so much as flinched when something blew past her.She closed the book and stood up.She started to fly always making sure to stay in the shadows."Berry, berries and what else..." She muttered to herself.

She stopped and opened the book again."Berry,berries,icy." She read.

She stared at it for a while trying to make sense of it.Michiyo gave up and started flying again. Her long white hair whipped wildly around her but she made no move to pat it down.Michiyo stood out quite clearly in the darkness because of her white hair, white dress and almost transparent wings.

The sound of quick footsteps filled the hallway. People stopped in the middle of their conversations when they realized who it was. Only a few offered a nod of greetings, which were ignored by the person- for she was in a hurry. Celeste started to walk even faster, her usual emotionless face replaced with an annoyed frown. "Where is Julian?" she thought to herself angrily. Then she heard a familiar laugh mixed with others, and walked full speed towards the sound.

There he was, chatting with two female Guardians. She replaced her frown with her trademark poker face and walked up to them. The chatter immediately ceased.

"W-w-we'll be heading off now..." one of the two females stammered as they quickly turned around and left.

"Aww... You scared them away," Julian joked. Celeste's face darkened.

"Is something wrong...?" he asked warily.

"While you were having such a good time, I was informed of the return of Alicandra. I was ordered to meet her at the gate. Feel free to stay here and socialize." she replied coldly. And with that, she stalked off towards the gate.

Julian gave a small grin and followed after her.

"My lady, we're back." Ciel voice breathed into Alice's ear. A shiver ran down her spin as she awoke- she was laying down on Ciel lap curled up around him, her face dug into his stomach. Ciel hovered over top of her, he had a thin smile that pulled at his lips- clearly amused. Alice rubbed her eye with the palm of her hand, trying to pull herself up into a siting position. Her head whirled as the blood flooded back into her head, "have a nice nap?" He asked kindly.

"Maybe" she said indifferent.

"Good." She could hear the smile on his lips.

Alice ignored this as she looked out the window, they were sitting in front of the castle. Not to far ahead of the carriage was the iron bars that held back demons and souls from entering the premises. It didn't look like much, but Alice new etched into those bars were runes that represented restrain, power and angels guaranteed to burn off any demon or soul's hand if they dare touch it. Behind the gate was rows and rows of forestry that blocked out direct aim to the castle, and above the trees shimmering in the moonlight was the transparent ward that repelled demons and souls just like the runes, the ward stretched like a blanket over the top of the castle, protecting it from direct attack.

Walking around the carriage was Squad Five, with stretchers to carry in her injured subordinates, suddenly Alice lost all interest in the castle before her, all she wanted was to report back to the Director and head to her tower, because she knew for certain the Director would refused to let her go home. Alice got out of the carriage door Ciel was holding for her, his hand was extended to help her down the step, she dismissed it nicely and flowed to the ground was grace, her legs felt weak from sitting for so long, she was happy she was finally able to stand. With a thud she heard the carriage door shut and Ciel reappeared at her side.

"My Lady, Administrator Cyric is at the gate." He mumbled matter of fact, Alice's head jerked up towards the gate were she saw the other Administrator and her Weapon arrive.

When Celeste and Julian arrived at the gate, Duchess Farwick and her Weapon had already arrived. Celeste's mouth twitched as if she wanted to frown, but her face still stayed emotionless. There had been too many uncalculated casualties....

Julian then interrupted her thoughts saying, "Duchess Farwick is as beautiful as ever, is she not?"

"She is indeed very beautiful, but I suggest you keep your comments to yourself," Celeste replied dryly.

"Jealous?" Julian teased.

"Do you want to die?" she said in a monotone.

"If I die by your hand, I wouldn't care," he replied smoothly.

Celeste ignored this, for the Duchess and her Weapon were headed towards them. She had heard many good things about the two. She and Julian had met the two a few times, and each time there had been no conversations. This would be their first.

As the two walked up to them, Celeste said in a flat voice, "Duchess Farwick, Sir Llywellyn, I've been ordered to make sure your report reaches the Director. Please follow me." And without waiting for a reply, she headed toward the Directors headquarters.

"Duchess Farwick, Sir Llywellyn, I've been ordered to make sure your report reaches the Director. Please follow me." Celeste said in a flat voice.

"Miss. Celeste & Mr. Julian, how kind of you to come to fetch us." Ciel said despite Celeste's turned back, Alice followed quietly behind breathing in the clean uncontaminated air. It was so different from Hellebourne where she had gone on her mission, the air always smelt of demon poisoning and toxic flumes. Silence was all that was heard as they entered the castle, Alice could only see the side of Celeste face, admittedly the girl was beyond words. They had never actually spoken, but Alice respected the way she carried herself, she wasn't weak, she almost reminded her of what her mother once was. And her Weapon- Julian was jaw dropping-ly handsome, he looked muscular, she had seem him around the castle flirtatiously staring at the other girls, despite this she was somehow drawn to him, she liked the way he looked at Celeste like a knight looking down at her princess, it was pretty obvious Alice was obsessed with fairy tales.

"Tired?" Ciel asked, he looked sideways at her, Alice looked up at the other pair, she was sure they'd be to much into their own little conversation to hear, Alice shook her head.

"No," she lied. Ciel smirked, it was impossible to lie to Ciel.

"Of course your not." He said, looking way Alice fought the urge to roll her eyes. Always so sly Ciel was.

"Miss. Celeste & Mr. Julian, how kind of you to come to fetch us." Ciel said despite Celeste's turned back.

Julian turned around and said, "Please excuse Celeste's behavior. She's not very good a being polite."

Then with a quick smooth movement, Celeste's hand came flying out smacking Julian in the face. After giving a goofy grin at the Duchess and her Weapon he returned back to his master's side.

"That was unneccesary." Celeste said quietly, "I'm already aware of my behavior." Julian just smiled sadly.

The two behind them seemed to be having a conversation, so she took the oppurtunity to have a good look at the two out of the corner of her eye. Their relationship seemed very close, like all Guardians and Weapons, but a little bit different... As for looks, the Duchess was indeed a beauty and had the airs of a proper Duchess. The butler was dashing, and breath-takingly handsome. A perfect match, perhaps?

Julian then quietly said, "Something's wrong." Celeste heard the conversation behind them stop.

"Something's always wrong," she replied.

"No, seriously...." he said in a worried tone.

"I'll be there during the report between the Duchess and the Director. I'll report in," she said in a monotone, knowing well that the two behind them could hear what they were saying.

Then they arrived at the Directors headquarters. Celeste turned around, her face cold and said, "As a request from the Director, Weapons are to stay outside of the room."

She could see the uneasyness of both Weapons after hearing this. "Come in when you're ready," Celeste said to Alicandra, as she entered the Director's room, paying no attention to Julian's uneasyness

"I'll be there during the report between the Duchess and the Director. I'll report in," she said in a monotone.

"Of course," Alice finally spoke, her voice was indifferent. They traveled through the swirling hallways, decorated with pink and gold wallpaper, there was of course no automatic lighting, but the fairystones that were etched into the walls light brilliantly, it was easy to see your way through the castle once you got to know it. Something felt eerie to Alice, there were no other Guardian's in the hallways beside them, and it was - silent. Deafening even, Alice's stomach flipped uncomfortably as they reached the Director's office.

"As a request from the Director, Weapons are to stay outside of the room." Celeste said her eyes on the Weapons.

Ciel gave a little huff. Then wave emotions off his face. "I'll be outside, My Lady."

"I know." Alice breathed, no really concentrating on Ciel.

Alice walked into the room after Celeste. As expected, the walls were lined in books. The floor was covered by a soft Persian carpet and in front of her was a massive mahogany desk. Director Raziel looked at Alice then to Celeste, expressionless his eyes were guarded and ringed with red. Behind him a massive dragon looking almost transparent, glared with his razor sharp teeth. Alice gulped.

After the door shut behind them, Celeste walked to the front of the desk and kneeled down like a knight would do in front of his Lord.

"Like instructed, I have brought Duchess Farwick." she said quietly.

Celeste could feel her hand twitching, which only happened when she was nervous. She greatly respected the Director, but when she saw him together with his Weapon, it was very overwhelming. Not to mention Julian wasn't here...

"Permission to report after Duchess Farwick?" she asked.

The Director was silent for a while, but then said, "Permission granted. Please stand." She immediately stood up, and walked back to the door as the Duchess walked up to the desk to report in.

Meanwhile, outside the door, Julian was getting more restless. "I never feel this worried when I'm out talking to 'others', but whenever she steps into this room... Ugh..." he said thinking out loud.

[Director POV]

Raziel sat with his elbows on his desk and his hands clasps together, his eyes were wearily and tired, it had been day since he last slept, beside him Azrael breathed down his back giving him the occasional shiver.

"Permission to report after Duchess Farwick?" Celeste asked.

Raziel nodded, granting her permission.

___________

"Director." Alice greeted she put her hand across her chest and bow, as she began her report. "Squad 6 of Investigation, went to Hellebourne as ordered to investigate the random murders of women through out town. We spend four days there and each night we found another murder, on the last night yesterday we finally caught the murder- Sir Isac Fairchild, along with his army of demons. They seem to be feeding off the women Souls that worked at the night bars, we had underestimated his power and lost many lives, I as well as the Lieutenant were injured. Unfortunately Isac Fairchild committed suicide before we could apprehend him. That is all."

"Are you sure he is dead?" Director Raziel asked skeptically.

Alice rose from her bow, and stared squarely at the middle-aged man, his violet colored eyes stared back at her, impenetrable. Raziel was a man of mysteries.

"Yes, he drove a dagger into his chest- I checked his pulse serve of times. Nothing. His pupils had rolled backwards and his heart beat had disappeared." Alice said with raw confidence, he Directors wise eyes bore into hers, she wanted to look away but her prideful Duchess blood prevented her from doing soon.

"I see. Thank you Duchess."

"Of course" Alice stepped back and let Celeste take center stage.

_____________

"I never feel this worried when I'm out talking to 'others', but whenever she steps into this room... Ugh..." Julian said aloud to no one in particular.

Ciel stared at him, "alittle overprotective, are we?" His voice was light jokingly. But in his mind he was as worried as Julian sounded. He had never not been able to listen to Alicandra report in, something was different. Ciel could feel it.

Celeste carefully listened to the Duchess's report. Leave it to the Director to make sure there weren't any loopholes. Once the report was finished, Celeste walked towards the desk once again.

She said, "I believe something is stirring in the Nightworld. Something is not feeling right. The numbers of missions of all squads have greatly increased, and each mission ends up with uncalculated casualties. And today, an unthinkable murder has occured, in my own squad. The death of a Guardian.... caused by his own Weapon. It seems like the Weapon rebelled against the Guardian, in the end killing him. This took place during a mission, and before my subordinates could capture the Weapon and bring him back here, the Weapon self-destructed. According to eye witnesses from my squad, they say it looked like the Weapon was 'possesed'. We brought the remains of the Weapon back, to be inspected. What does the Director think about this?"

- - - - -

Ciel stared at him, "alittle overprotective, are we?" His voice was light jokingly.

Julian laughed.
"Aren't we all?" he said with a light smirk.
"But after what happened today, maybe that's not true...." he added after a while, his face dark

Alice's face showed nothing, no alarm escaped her cold hardened mask. But her stomach said something else. She had felt it, that eerie and unspeakable feeling and had seen it at Hellebourne. Something was strange - to hear a Weapon attacked it's owner, that's just unheard of, the Weapons are bounded and contracted to the owner. It was impossible. But from the look on Celeste face and her voice with that hint of urgency- Alice believed it.

_______

Raziel looked unalarmed, it was almost everyday he heard of murders. He had witnessed worse things, but this had to be the weirdness. He waited patiently for the girl to lay the remains of the Weapon, eager to examine it.

_______

"Aren't we all?" he said with a light smirk.
"But after what happened today, maybe that's not true...." he added after a while, his face darkened.

Ciel noticed but said nothing. He hadn't a clue what Julian meant, but in away he did.

Melody stood waiting outside the main building of the Guardians' castle.
"Where could he be? It's almost time for Squad Two's meeting." she said while looking at her watch.
She felt a tap at her shoulder. She turned around to find Vino's face looking directly at hers.
They stared at each other until Vino finally looked away.
"Didn't you say there was a meeting today?" He said, clearing his throat and covering his blushing face with his hand.
"Yes.." She eyed him suspiciously. "I did."
He looked at her with his straight face. "Well then, why do you keep playing these games? Let's go!" He started walking off without her.
She caught up and pinched his cheek. "You were the one who started it!" She laughed and ran off to meet with her Administrator Celeste Cyric, with her sword, Vino, in her hand.

Celeste carefully took out a small pack, and laid it on the Director's desk. She untied a knot, and the pack spread out like a small blanket with the remains piled up in the middle. She looked at the remains with a cold look on her face. Just thinking about what happened filled her with disgust.

She then took a step back and said, "I'll leave the remains in your care. But I'll have to be excused here, an emergency Squad meeting is to take place. Please excuse me." And with that she stiffly walked out of the room.

Outside Julian and Ciel were both still waiting, looking worried. Celeste walked right past Julian heading towards the Squad 2 meeting room. Julian glanced at her, then nodded a farewell to Ciel, and hurridly walked after her.

When they entered the meeting room, they could see Melody waiting with her Weapon inside. She didn't seem to know about the horrifying event that had taken place that day....

"Excuse me as well." Alice said, and left a few seconds after Celeste. Ciel looked at her as if he was surprise she was still alive. "I want ..." Alice hummed, "food." She finally decided, her stomach grumbled and turned and her lips were parched. "As you wish, My Lady" Ciel said, Alice walked pass him, it took only two strides to catch up to Alice. From he corner of her eye she could see his curious face, Alice shook her head. "I'll tell you once we're in the tower." She said with finality.
