i think a girl in a tux is appropriate or leggings under a dress but jeans are too casual it just has to be something formal and that's pretty much it For my prom, this girl wore a simple floor length dress and paired it with a fedora and a tie |

Nah, just something simple. Simple black dress, maybe? The color doesn't really matter. Most actual tomboys don't really care much about their appearance. I've noticed every tomboy I've known who does care overly about her appearance is just doing the tomboy thing for the image. Not to say that all tomboys just abandon their sense of fashion. They still wear matching clothes. It just doesn't bother them as much when things don't match. I think that many tomboys tend to be very lazy about their appearance and don't care much what other people think about their clothes. If I had to do the stereotype thing to myself, I would probably be close to the tomboy category. Can't say exactly where I'd fall, though ^^. I'm lacking in physical toughness and the threatening aspect that tomboys are supposed to have. Perhaps I'd fall in the hermit category.... If I had it my way, I'd live all alone in the middle of freaking nowhere. Maybe with a few other people, as well. Bah. I've managed to get off subject. Anyway, if I were a tomboy who was going to prom, I would either show up in something ridiculously feminine, just to remind people that I'm female; or I would just wear a simple dress.. I dunno, whatever I could find. I dunno if they'll even let you in with jeans... Seeing as how it IS a formal dance...

Is moving next week, apparently XD. Quite sudden.

I'm super-girly, but I think it's okay to wear jeans. It's your prom! It's a celebration! You should wear whatever you want and whatever you would feel comfortable in. However, it's also a special night, and so it may be nice to wear something other than what you wear everyday. A cute girl version of male formalwear could be fun, or a simple dress, or leggings under a dress, or some Avril Lavigne-type look: all punk-rock girly tomboy.

I'm gonna wear a tux, cuz I don't like dresses. I don't care if people make fun of me for it. Dresses are uncomfortable.

Wow, haven't been on in over a year xD

If you'd just force yourself to wear something against your will, you're better off not going right?
Well at least that's better than embarrassing yourself. Edit: Yes, I think It'd be weird to wear jeans for prom. |

Whips and handcuffs. Let's do it that way baby. <3

I'm neutral.
But I wore something called a lengha to my graduation. I felt hot & uncomfortable, also itchy all through the way. But it was to please my mum & friends, my mum especially wishes I was more girly. |

SO MANY DRAMAS... NO MORE TIME!!

That's up to preference whether ladies brave dresses or not. I hear a school cancelled prom because a girl wanted to wear a tux to prom. She was a lesbian but definitely not a Tomboy. |

Ya like others are saying, jeans are waaaay too casual for prom. While it is a celebration, it's supposed to be a bit more...elegant, I guess you could say. If a dress doesn't suit your taste, what about something like what a businesswoman wears (in terms of pants and jacket). Or even a dress with tights underneath and the right shoes to go with it.

Wear a dress, or a tux. Doesn't really matter. But always, at least attempt to make it formal, while at the same time putting elements of you into the outfit. My friend, who was manlier than me or anyone I ever knew in any way, threw caution to the wind, and ended up going to prom wearing the most beautiful golden orange gown, all the while showing off her bare, biker gang-looking tattooed arms to the public.
