I don't even live in the US but cannibalism with slightly sexual intents is a habit of mine.

I don't have any sex offenders where I live. I'm assuming you have lots since you're asking the question.

No, there's no sex offenders in Canada. They all migrate down to the US.

Sadly this is pretty much unreliable since it only offers an overview of the registered sex offenders in your area which is pretty much useless since there are still sex offenders who never got caught or remain unreported. In fact, such laws such as Megan's law, and banishment zones only lead to a false sense of security amongst the people, but don't reveal the most common offenders which ironically are to be found in the closest environment of the prey -- such as family members, friends, or any other trusted fellows from your environment -- and in most cases they remain unreported and therefore will never become subjects of Megan's law, nor any areal banishments.
But then there's also the issue that these laws will limit the offenders chances to rehabilitate and start anew which then could lead to stress and other issues which then might increase the likelihood of re-offence. And since most sex offenders will get released from jail one way or the other the current laws and measures just can't be considered as preventive which should be every government's top priority.
So personally, I believe that we should focus on the rehabilitation of the offenders just as much as we do on the preys'. To help them to succeed in life so to avoid that they might become repeat offenders. I know for most this will sound stupid, and eye for an eye is their motto in such grievous situations, however we need to consider the likelihood of death and/or life sentence for sex offenders which is very low.

So you're saying it's useless because there probably is alot more than the people who are registered? But with this you would at least know who has offended before, which is alot less dangerous than not knowing anything at all.

Yes and no, but it gives a false sense of security and awareness because it will raise your focus mainly on these very people who already do get regularly controlled and with this could lead to imprudence when it comes to the fact that everybody could be a potential predator. Plus, like I said, these kind of control by the public will also lead to unnecessary discrimination against the offender which will raise his chances of offending again, these informations being made available to the public by the authorities does also have its side-effects, you see. But of course you didn't read that far...

No, I read and understood the other parts, but I just disagreed with the first thing. People should still be aware of who already has sexually offended.

How about that? Try searching for a female sexoffender in New York. I tried for about 10 minutes. Didn't find any.
