I'm serious about this, really. Being a VN fan despite have only played two games and a demo I know that they could have some higher potential outside Japan if they didn't have such a bad rep for consisting of primarily hentai games. 'Higurashi no naku koro ni' is one (assuming there wasn't hentai elements in the VN) and so is 'Phoenix Wright' (yes, that's considered a VN). 'Fate/Stay Nights' would probably been just as great even without the hentai elements as well.

Why am I pushing for this? It's because I was facinated by Goosebump's Choose Your Own Scare novels, and this was before I knew what anime was beyond Pokemon. It's amazing. Haven't you read a book and thought what would it have been like if so and so didn't happen? Exactly.

As far as porting goes I would think that they only way they'd sell outside Japan is by having them either on the phone or on a portable game system like Nintendo DS and PSP.

The problem, the industry in general sucks outside Japan. The exception is Phoenix Wright in my opinion.

So I was thinking, what can be done to solve this problem and who's willing to write VNs that don't contain or have minimum elements of hentai?
