Why didn't Kevin Carter just help the child? He could've easily taken the child that last kilometer.

yeah well, he really didnt care about the kid, only the picture, later, thats probably why he killed himself.

yeah take the kid to a place where they only prolong their death...she would have died any way, for darwins sake look at the kid

we talked about this in my english class last semester...

and yes he most likely did kill himself b/c of guilt placed on him by others making it his own, I for one think he had nothing to feel guilty about, he imoratalized that kid who none of you would even know anything about....

How many discovery shows have you seen where they just let an animal die b/c they don't want to interfer b/c that would be cruelty to animals thats some backward ass shit right there...and animals mind you that have a hell of a lot better chance then that kid...

Sad as it is he would have been better off being put to sleep then being feed for a night or two till he died

That would have been the right thing in my opinion, but if you read the wiki article, it says that we was afraid of disease. That was his reasoning, btw.

Helped the kid how what would you have done? do you think that kid really would have survived and lived a happy normal life if he wouldve helped the kid instead of taking the photo?

Ehm, judging by the picture, this kid wasn't crawling any more. Too weak. It was already on the way to "heaven". Other than that, pictures like that always ought to be taken with a grain of salt since the photographers like to make them look more dramatic then they are, or make up things that you can't see on the picture. Like in this pic...you can't see that there'd be a camp 1Km away, and what do we know? Maybe there isn't even one. Looks like an abandoned child to me. And it definitely didn't have a disease. It really was just suffering from a severe famine. Bringing it back to a normal state would have required special care which requires a lot of time investment, which the docs of the red cross and other help organisations just don't have as there are way too many other kids who are in a critical state, too, but not so severe like this kid, of whom they have to take care of.
