I've been wondering about finding something new that's free. And yes free legal music is hard to find (not that I'm entirely against other methods of obtaining music, BUT I'm trying to find some new stuff that I haven't heard before from artists that are offering free tracks or are new blah blah. I'm not even bored with the stuff I already know but to move forward I want to try out free stuff.

Thing showing the most potential so far is http://www.muzie.co.jp/
problem is its in all Japanese. Google translate helps.
Example (just browsing)
http://www.muzie.co.jp/artist/r001179/ (sounds sort of promising)

But I was wondering if someone knew of something better. I'm just curious. Despite the description not really trying to start a fight. Don't hurt me.

Discuss? Suggestions?

I don't get it? Why would anyone get arrested? I haven't checked the site entirely out but I'm seeing nothing that looks out of place. There are pay sections and stuff on the site

I'm currently looking into it. Here's a doc that has it ranked with other official music sources like Yahoo music.

This post from FFR has links to artists with free tracks. Things that aren't free aren't allowed to be posted there. Since this is FFR I think most songs are dance/trance ish if that's a problem.

Not a true in the slightest.
http://ccmixter.org/
jamendo.com

Both sites I'm not familiar with but they are a part of creative commons stuff.
Now if you were to say that all free music by long time established artists was illegal then maybe...
however, not always:

And I never said I cared, I'm just trying to do something different.
