Ability to write is everything in the fanfiction world.

OC are really hard to write, from experience. I have to make the character that most people can relate to, as well as adjust to the storyline, especially if the series is ongoing.

But I like the authors that use their OC as a medium to let people see another point of view of each manga or anime world.

I don't like the MarySues and Stus of the OC world, but I don't mind them if they're good.

aaah, so this is OC.
since im playing story-teller based roleplay games, and usually im the story-teller i write alot of OC. they are not bad but sometimes really hard to fit them into the original story. and this is my main problem usually because the main character (the player who i play with) basically an OC. i use time to time already existed novels as a basic of the actual campaign and change the original main character to the player. it give some tough brainstorming time to me, but when i see how the player enjoy the game its totally worth all the time writing the campaign ^__^

off topic:

Kyoko is truly an original character, i love her personality ^__^

Hmmm, OCs are fine as long as they're not the ones of the 'eyes like sparkling amethyst orbs and hair like waves of gold' variety. Those types are usually the ones who dominate the story, rescue the main characters (and look great doing it) and embarrass the characters the author hates while making off with the one the author has an anime crush on.
I know it's possible. I know someone who writes fanfiction and her OC's are usually okay,(her latest character has black hair and green eyes by the way and is described normally). They don't break up canon couples and she gives canon characters the major spotlight. She also makes them fit into the world instead of the other way around. Sadly, this sort of thing is rare.
The problem is that most OCs are wish fulfillment and the good ones usually get buried under sues.

I have no problem with OCs especially from the ones in fanfiction though I don't like the fact that they over power the main character for example, in Naruto fanfiction "Twin headed dragon with 10 tails, stronger than the Kyuubi" and somehow they have the perfect personality and everyone loves them, also the one I commonly read is the one with an 'angelic' voice that can turn Gaara to fall in love with said character is just plain ridiculous, why would he fall in love with just a voice?

No body is perfect. A mary sue ruins the fiction. And mostly the characters I read are orphans and miserable, everyone hates them and even through the story they still don't like them that there is NO ray of sunshine in that characters life. Some OCs that are 10 years old have hourglass figures? Big breasts yet they are thin?

Though mostly the OCs I read in Death Note, some in Naruto and other anime related fanfictions are written with a balance. Though it would be good to make an original story once in a while.
