I believe in being abstinent-sigh such a shame that many teens aren't, I know its the right way to enjoy our childhood, and people say you are being immature, when it is the most mature way to follow! any one else agree w/ me?

Abstinence isn't easy. It ain't easy at all. But it's impossible to do it of your own will. Humans are like that. We think we can, but it's at the back of our mind at all times. When you're keeping your eyes on God, He erases the impulse, the dark joy of sinning and temptations. Even when you're sinning, you don't enjoy it. You don't feel addicted. There's no more hook to it.

It's called freeing of strongholds.

Never worry about not abstaining according to the 12 commandments. We are sinners therefore we sin. No other way to that. BUT we CAN look at Jesus, and tell him about it, so he helps us get away from it. For if YOU BY YOUR OWN EFFORTS trying to WORK TO EARN FAVOUR, YOU'LL FALL UNDER THE LAW, AND ALL YOUR BLESSINGS BE FORFEITED. Very important point.

Don't fall under the law. It's the ONLY way we can miss the Grace and Mercy of God under the NEW testament.

(What do you mean people calling it immature?)

I'm a 21 and I've abstained my whole life and you're right, it is hard, but they always say "good things come to those who wait," right?

Seriously, people call it immature? Usually people kind of laugh when I tell them then tell me its a good thing. But as the 40-Year-Old-Virgin said, at least they know I don't have Chlamydia. ^_^

Wow Abstinence. Has to be the hardest temptation that ive ever had. So easy to give in. One of the best things is normally a christian dates a christian so you both have the same belief so you understand each others beliefs but its still hard. Last year i was asked out by two nice girls who werent christian and i had to turn them down. I've prayed a lot on the topic of relationships and then one night i got an answer from God telling me he had the perfect person planned for me but that i had to be patient for she wasnt ready for me. Its not allways easy but i know god has the right person planned for me so if i just have to be patient.

True. abstinence aint easy for evrybody. So many ppl who aren't christian hav done it and it bothers me cuz its not that i want to do it but it saddens me that its wrong to have sex before you get marriedsince they dont know its a sin. I realized more and more teens are doing it and I dont want to b selfish but im glad im still a virgin bcuz i know i am strong to not b tempted by the devil.Even before i was converted into Christianity i NEVER want to do it when i go out with any guy because i think its ridiculious that a person to have sex for each date he/she goes on. Besides God already set up the person who i will end up with and but i know i have to wait. Our body is a temple we should respect it

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

I believe that the whole abstinence thing is a Christian invention. The ancient hebrews consumated before marriage so why shouldn't we? Jesus never said (as far as I know) to abstain from sex before marriage. I think he just happen to not have had sex before a marriage. Basically, abstinence is an interpretation of the 6th commandment and not even jewish people interpret it that way. I don't buy the whole abstinence thing because I don't know how you get "No sex before marriage" from "Thou shall not commit adultery".

^ How can you say that?

Matthew 5:27-30
27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery. 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

If looking at a woman lustfully counts as adultery, how can premaritial sex not? The bible says that if you can't control your passion, then you should marry.

1 Corinthians 7:9
9But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

How can an average guy not look at a woman lustfully? That is asking more than any normal person could give as it goes against our nature.

Perhaps one cannot do that. However, men can still try to avoid looking at a woman lustfully.

Again, it's all interpretation. Notice, that that's all New Testament quotings. Not Old Testament. I take the Old Testament a bit more seriously on the sex issue than the New Testament.

I don't know, I do the job pretty well on a daily basis. I look at a lady, but I don't have any indecent thought about her. I just wonder if she's a nice person or not. Or, if I see a girl i know, i think, "Hey, there's so and so. I wonder how she's doing. Hey, so and so!"

I picture almost every woman (and to be honest a lot of guys as well ehehehehe) as naked when I see them. I think about sex roughly every 12 seconds.
